    Default Back pain?

Anyone else suffering from a never-ending back ache? I think it has something to do with the 21 lb bag of cuteness I've been toting around. I went to a sports medicine doctor today. He said it's most likely my traps (trapezius muscles) giving me trouble. I'm going in for PT on Friday to learn some exercises/stretches that should help alleviate my pain. I'll share whatever I find out!

Yep. I try to lift her and carry her as little as possible. Thankfully, Clara's just a little bitty thing, but her brother helped me rupture a disc in my back when he was just a little older than her.

I rarely hold Aiden in my arms for very long without the help of a baby carrier. He's just too heavy for my arms and back to handle it. I notice in my arms I stand differently which is definitely partly to blame for my aches and pains. I hope the exercises help!

My back always hurt after my babies.. It usually started when they were getting heavy and they were in the infant carrier.. Sometimes even a whole year after. I agree with Christa. No lifting or take it easy..

Jackie- I can't even carry her in my Mai Tai now for more than 15 minutes. It's that bad. Actually, carrying her in my arms feels better now because I can rest some of her weight on my hip.

The doctor gave me one stretch before I left. It really helps! Find a table in your house that has a lip beneath (like something to grab onto underneath). Bend at the waist so that your torso is parallel with the table. Put your closer arm on the edge of the table and grab the lip with your other arm. Push with the closer arm and pull with the other arm. You should feel a deep stretch in your shoulder and upper back. You can swivel your butt around to change where you feel the stretch.

The PT is going to teach me some exercises to strengthen those muscles. I'm also going to work on strengthening my core muscles. Now if only I could figure out when I'm going to do this ...

I'm with Jackie. When I hold Evan in my arms, my posture is quite a bit different. It doesn't take too long for things to start getting sore.

I'm with ya! Especially with 27 lbs of cuteness over here!! It's my lower back though, on the left side. It's sort of sciatica like as it hurts when I move my left leg. Geez I feel pregnant again!!! I hope it goes away soon because I need to get back to exercising and it makes me nervous for work in a few months where I'm on my feet for 12 hours!!

I'm trying to get in to see my chiropractor soon to see if he can be of any help.
