Bedroom door- Open or closed?

Do you sleep with the bedroom door open or closed?

Do you close or keep open LO's door(s) when they're sleeping?

Has it changed since you've become a parent, like now it's open when it used to be closed?

When you and SO started sharing a bed did you have the same preference to the door being open or closed or did someone lose?

I know we have some FTM co-sleepers so for you what do you "think" you will do once LO gets his/her own room?

I really have no idea where this came from, but last night as I was trying to go to sleep I was thinking about having the bedroom door closed and how DH used to sleep with his open. It wasn't ever something we discussed but once we started living together I just automatically started shutting the door (mostly because we were DTD a lot and DD1's bedroom was too close for comfort). I have always slept with the door closed and I've just always closed my kids' doors too.

We keep our door open. Always have. Otherwise the cat will stand at the door complaining, waking us all up.
When Aiden is in his crib asleep, we keep his door closed. This house has no insulation between the walls and with the all tile floor sound carries really far. We could have our door closed too, and I'd still be able to hear Aiden wake up.

(ETA: Yeah, we can hear our duplex neighbors too. We've heard them have sex and their baby crying! Lord knows what they've heard from us.)

This is simple for me Smile

Do you sleep with the bedroom door open or closed? open

Do you close or keep open LO's door(s) when they're sleeping? closed

Has it changed since you've become a parent, like now it's open when it used to be closed? Our door has always been open except when the babies were in our room then it was closed

When you and SO started sharing a bed did you have the same preference to the door being open or closed or did someone lose? yes..both said open

We have cats..so simple as we have the door open so the cats can come into our room and not scratch up the carpet. And I have the kids doors shut so the cats don't go into their rooms Smile The cats don't want to be with the children but they like to go into their room. But at night the cats want to sleep with us anyway Smile

We used to sleep with our door closed to keep the menagerie out. When Teagan is in our room in her crib, I keep the door cracked open so I can hear her when she wakes up. I have to put a dog gate up on the door to keep the menagerie from going in a waking her up. The dogs would go in and walk around (we're too lazy to trim their nails and they make noise) and sniff her and our one cat enjoys screaming at sleeping babies. When I'm in the room with Teagan, the door is closed. When we eventually put her in her own room, I imagine we'll shut the door because she'll likely be old enough to just get up and open it by then .

we sleep with our bedroom door open. i am afraid of the dark and feel really creeped out with my door closed lol.

Lucas has his door closed until we go to bed and then we open it for the night to let some air in. it is closed all day and until we go to bed because the cats are up and we don't let them in there. At night they go in the basement because they harass us.

when dh and i first started living together in an apartment we had to close our door to keep the cats out and i wasn't much of a fan, but it bothers me more in a house then an apartment.

All doors open at our house. DH and I have had it like this since we moved in together. We have one indoor dog, and he sleeps in our room. I guess when DS gets a "big boy bed", the dog could sleep in there if Evan wanted him to.

We used to sleep with the door closed. Now with the kids I have it propped open just a little bit. I typically close theirs as soon as they go to sleep or prop theirs open just slightly like ours.

We close their doors to keep the noise out.

No. I grew up with everyone leaving their bedroom doors open. I feel better having it open, in general. When the girls are old enough to have an opinion they can keep their door open or closed.

When you and SO started sharing a bed did you have the same preference to the door being open or closed or did someone lose?
When DH and I got married, our bedroom didn't have a door. (Goofy house, don't ask.) Now that we have one in our new place, it's open. We've never really talked about it.

We've always slept with our door cracked open because of crying cats. They like to go in and out non-stop all night. Before kids we just used to leave it all the way open but now DS1 gets up and plays loud in the am so its gotta be more closed than open. Both boys sleep with theirs closed when they are in their rooms.

I like my door closed....however, I don't like it when Miranda got her own room and she comes into ours. It's kinda hard to open and it wakes me up every time.

I know we have some FTM co-sleepers so for you what do you "think" you will do once LO gets his/her own room?

I used to always sleep w/ my door closed. Growing up everyone slept w/ the doors closed, and it used to really bother me and I couldn't really sleep w/ it open. Then I got cats. 'Nuff said. So now, I sleep w/ my door open, but that has everything to do w/ the cats and nothing to do w/ the kids. The kids sleep w/ their doors closed to keep the noise out. (And to keep the kids in!)

With my ex, I really have no idea what he preferred. We always slept w/ the door open, and he never said it bothered him. My BF sleeps w/ his open, so this hasn't been an issue w/ us either.

I grew up the oldest of 5 and I am very picky about my privacy so my door was always closed (shared a room w/ my sisters, but as the oldest I was the boss :p). When I had a roommate after leaving home it was closed AND locked for sure! I even installed a front door lock (keyed lock) so nobody could get in. She would invite all kinds of crazy people she barely knew over at all kinds of unGodly hours.

When I first started dating DH and staying over at his place the door usually stayed open since he lived alone. In the years we've been together/married it's generally stayed open. Now it's just cracked open.

You are going to think I'm weird. When we moved into this house we started closing it. The bedroom is a long rectangular room that is weird to arrange furniture in and so the foot of the bed faces the door and it creeps me out, so I close the door. I also have a slight unease in the dark, but closing the door makes me more comfortable. If there were an intruder they'd be less able to sneak up on me if they had to open the door to get to me and I could be ready for them (.40 Glock in my nightstand).

Lyla's stays closed but not latched mostly to keep the noise out and so she can sleep.

Both my ds and dd1 sleep with their doors shut. I keep them open when they go to bed but when I go to bed I shut them. I also shut my door.. The reasons being is because I dont want ds walking around in the middle of the night, I dont want the light to disturb them, if a fire was to happen hopefully the door would keep it out for a while, and because of noise.. I keep my door shut because of the light.. Me and dh are like vampires. We have to have it pitch black in order to get good sleep..

I kept my door closed as a teenager cause I liked the privacy. When I got married, I think we left the door open, don't really remember. We now keep all the doors to the bedrooms closed because we have a cat and dh doesn't let him go in the bedrooms ever. When dd is old enough to decide, I don't care, but I bet dh won't let her keep the door open if we have any pets since he doesn't like them in the bedrooms.

We always have everyone's doors cracked open. Always. If we are DTD then we will shut it of course, but then open it up before going to sleep.

Do you sleep with the bedroom door open or closed? Closed because Ronin is still in our room and I don't want the cats to get in

Do you close or keep open LO's door(s) when they're sleeping? When Ronin is in his room at night the door is usually open if I am still up and closed if I am in bed so the cats can't get in

Has it changed since you've become a parent, like now it's open when it used to be closed? Used to be open and we had cats sleep at our feet

When you and SO started sharing a bed did you have the same preference to the door being open or closed or did someone lose? I used to sleep with my door open a lot but when hubby and I got together and were staying at our parents places it was doors closed and then when we moved in together back to open

I know we have some FTM co-sleepers so for you what do you "think" you will do once LO gets his/her own room? No idea

Do you sleep with the bedroom door open or closed? Always open, it freaks me out to have it closed! LOL

Do you close or keep open LO's door(s) when they're sleeping? We close them half way; mainly so that there's a better noise blocker incase we are up watching tv still or whatever...

Has it changed since you've become a parent, like now it's open when it used to be closed? Nope!!

When you and SO started sharing a bed did you have the same preference to the door being open or closed or did someone lose? No, DF is a freak about everything being BLACK and SILENT... Like in a cave... not my thing... So I guess he comprimised Blum 3

I am totally laughing, but not at you, but because I have had the exact same thought! I don't have a .40 Glock in my nightstand though. But I do have slugs to my shotgun in my headboard and can get to my shotgun pretty easily.

I sleep with my bedroom door open, because I have a floor fan that I use for white noise. If I didn't have that fan, I'd sleep with it almost completely closed, because the aquarium keeps me awake for some reason.

My kids all sleep with their doors closed and always have.

I have always slept with my door closed, and if I didn't have kids, I would still. I don't feel comfortable doing that because my husband works nights and I'm solely responsible for my babies so I want to be able to jump up and murder someone if they even attempt to get into my house. Hehe. No joke.
