I used to nurse Lyla laying down all the time. It was her preferred nursing position due to my forceful letdown.
I can't nurse Kole laying down side by side. I've tried it a few times and each time the milk starts running out of his nose. Does anyone know why this would happen? He's laying down flat when I nurse him in a cradle hold, so I don't understand why milk would run out of his nose when I'm laying down, but not when I'm sitting up.
Anna I have no idea! Is it bothering him at all? Maybe it's just due to the way his sinuses are connected there? I'd keep trying though in hopes that one day it'll work out.
That used to happen to Teagan sometimes. Everything's connected in there. Its not a problem so long as he's not having trouble breathing. You could also try nursing him with him lying on your chest as you recline. That should help with the forceful let down and keep the milk from coming out his nose.
Archer has had milk coming out of his nose a few times lately during cradle hold. We've mostly been doing a football hold but I started doing cradle now too. Scared me the first time cause it never happened with the other 2.
Anyway, maybe keep practicing the side-lying. Odin could do it right away but I found that Archer had a harder time learning how to and has just become better at it over the last few days. It's like he couldn't keep himself latched on or something the first 3 weeks when I tried. Maybe Kole just needs practice with that position and latch in conjunction with your milk flow? Like you mentioned, he is in a similar position.
