no, no help. I plan on doing it the day/night before. My mom will be around to help the day of, but I don't want to leave it to the last minute I will get very flustered and overwhelmed. I am a really bad cook, that is why I didn't want to do one big meal LOL. I don't know if the cake will be big enough. It's touchy because not everyone eats cake you know? I thought about doing one all fancy and then just baking a sheet cake and slicing that up.

Anna, that's weird that eggs and green beans make her puke! she must not like them:p

I also find that Teagan will eat more for dinner if I give her a little snack while I cook. Its like it primes her for food time. She really likes grapes too! Trader Joe's animal crackers are also good for 10 minutes of happy baby time.

Yay for eating lunch! Every time Teagan eats something I practically freak out in shock. How long after she eats those things does she puke? Is it a little spit up or like full on puking? Might be an intolerance if its every time and pretty severe. Otherwise it might just be a coincidence. We've now found two things that Teagan is allergic to. She breaks out in hives if she eats avocado or raw tomatoes. She's fine with cooked tomatoes but raw brings on the hives. I'm really hoping she grows out of it or that its mild enough that she'll still eat those things. She only gets hives where the item touches her skin and she doesn't seem bothered by it at all. DH's lips itch when he eats avocado but he still eats it. I'm going to wait until she's old enough to tell me if it bothers her to try again.

I'd keep it with that much food then. You want to be able to enjoy his birthday. After all, its not like he's going to care all that much. This one is for us ;).

Janice- what time is the party? that's what I always base my food selection on.

Anna- Yay for Lyla!!!

Erin- a non tomato eater wouldn't survive in our house LOL. I've been living on avocados (homemade guacamole) this summer! Tomatoes and avocados have been staples here this summer. I hope it's just going to be really mild or that it goes away as she gets older.

Clara is eating her first raw apple right now. She's not doing bad but I swear this kid just isn't getting the hang of chewing as quickly as I'd hoped. She's such a choker.

it's going to be 1-4

we still have at least one choking episode every meal. He always gets it out himself, but still. I love tomatoes it would suck not having them around! So far I havn't noticed any allergies with him. He has pretty much had everything

We still eat plenty of avocado and tomato. I just don't give it to her. Its not a bad enough reaction to do something super drastic like keeping those items out of the house.

But it sucks for poor Teagan, those are two really great foods Sad

Janice- that menu sounds perfect for that time frame! It's after lunch and before supper so it should be snack items. Doesn't need to be a ton cause people shouldn't be coming to "eat" but enough to nibble while passing the time.

ya that's what i was kinda thinking. Oh they will eat, even when I tell them I just ate lunch they want to know why I am not eating:p I get asked at least 10 times if I am going to eat something when I go somewhere. i have even been asked after i just finished! LOL

Janice, I'd stick to easy nibble food for that time frame. Smile Don't stress yourself out too much!

Avocados and raw tomatoes I think are easy enough to leave out. Now if she had an issue with cooked tomatoes, I might have an issue. Wink lol. Hopefully she'll grow out of them. So far we haven't had any food reactions that I've noticed.

Lunch today Aiden had spaghetti squash, a whole banana, blueberries, half of my peach , and shredded chicken.

Clearly my motivation is somewhere else today. I submitted a job to the super computer on campus. Just waiting for it to come back. I should be doing something else in the meantime but why?

Jackie,, you better get some coffee in you.. Today you slept in and had a good amount of sleep, you wont know when that will happen again so use that energy!

Erin, I think you would be a sexy mama running in your neon vest on the treadie!! LOL~~

So today was full of appts. First my poor dog of 8 years.. She had some major fleas.. I tried to get rid of them for over a month and eventually caved and bought the stuff you put on her back, well I think I did it wrong and she must of ingested some of it, then she scratched her eye and she didnt eat for like a whole week and probably like like 3lbs which is alot cuz she is a pug.. I called about a week ago to get her in but they didnt have anything until today. She def. scratched her eyeball! I could even see the whole! It was so gross, and he said that hopefully when he eyes starts to feel better seh will start to eat and gain weight.. Fleas are gone thank goodness. Then ds woke up with some weird rash, which I thought was chicken poxs, but hopefully is just hives..

Sounds like a rough day, Lauren. I hope your puppy feels better soon. I saw the rash on FB. Its been so long since I've seen chicken pox. Don't the pox show up over a period of a few days rather than all at once over night?

Lauren- sounds like one of those days! Yogi had a flea on him earlier. He gets frontline every month but fleas have been really bad around here this year.

It is raining in my house and there's nothing I can do to stop it Biggrin There's a praying mantis on my sliding door so if I open the screen to shut the heavy door, it will be in my house. I do okay with bugs outside but not so good when they're in my house. So, basically I'm just letting it rain on my rug with the screen door the only protection cause I'm a big baby and I can't work up the nerve to shut the freaking door and kill a bug! DH is going to be pi$$ed about this one Smile

You better not kill that bug, Christa! They eat other pests that you'd probably want in your house even less.

Okay, got it taken care of. I used all my ingenuity, opened the screen door a crack and used a fly swatter to knock it off the big door and out of the house. It was terrifying, like a scene from Jaws ROFL Or at least if anyone had seen me do they would've thought.

I feel kind of bad now. After me and DH got into it this morning I sent him an e-mail finishing the b!tch session I was having. He just calmly replied, we'll talk about it when I get home. which I know is a crock but he had me flaming mad and I wasn't ready to call it quits on the fight. I actually felt much better after I got it all out though.

It happens each time she eats these foods, and not with any other foods, so I'm confident that it's these particular foods. It's an immedate full on puke once it's in her mouth, she doesn't even swallow before a big load comes back up. I'm convinced it's an issue with either the texture or specific flavor in the eggs and greenbeans themselves, and not an allergy or even an intolerance to the food. I think we'll hold off on giving those to her and maybe try them again in a couple of months.

I'm not taking any chances. They can "bite", well, I don't think it's actually biting as it is something sharp on their legs that gets you. Either way, it didn't get me, phew!

Clara gags at eggs, no matter how they're cooked she just can't stomach them. She might eat a nibble or two while making a terrible face but the rest she just chucks across the room while acting completely appalled that you would feed her crap like that. I keep trying (I wouldn't if she was reacting like Lyla though, def don't blame you there) but she keeps having the same reaction. It's quite comical, well, all of it except cleaning up the egg mess.

I don't have bug issues. Some spiders creep me out a little, and giant flying cockroaches get me running out of the room, but generally I'm pretty good about them. DH captures and looks up every bug he doesn't recognize before it's killed. That way if it's a bug that eats other yucky bugs or does something good we just let it go. We have these white lizards that come up on the outside screen of our kitchen window at night. We've named them. And in the evening we turn the kitchen light on to attract moths and other bugs to the window so they have plenty of snacks. They are like pets for us now.

I don't know but this one had the deadly look in its eye like that shark on Jaws just before it rams the boat! I'm pretty sure it was going to try to eat me whole. ROFL No, really, I'm a big baby when it comes to insects or *GASP* spiders in my house. Every spider in my house may as well be 5 inches in circumference and deadly. I'm not even good with spiders outside. Monday night DH and I were hauling that hay back and forth. Here I am in my cute gauchos, designer sunglasses and flip flops tossing around two log chains and hooking them to the tractor bucket while climbing around against hay bales and driving the truck with the hay rack on back being all bad a$$. That is until I am walking on the hay rack and a spider jumps down in front of me. I let out a high pitched scream and jumped up in the air and off that wagon as fast as I could, all the while listening to DH laugh his behind off at me.

This is the kind of afternoon I've needed for quite some time. It's about 70 degrees outside and raining (MUCH needed), just a steady rain, no blowing, no storm. I'm laying in the living room with the windows open, on the couch with a cozy blanket on and with my computer chatting it up while both little kids sleep and the pup plays on the floor. Man, if this could go on for about 2 more hours, I'd be a changed woman by the time DH gets home Smile

Earwigs are another nasty one that we have all of the time. I almost freaked out when I saw one come out of the sink. EW. I love lizards too! Reptiles are ok, bugs NO

Christa, I'm sorry that your DH is being a stupid head right now. I'm sure he'll come around to your way of thinking again soon.

DH finished the bathroom. I just have to go in there and take the after pics, but I want to clean up all the dust from the construction first. Nothing really changed except the color of the tile and the sink and tub. The real work was in the digging up part of the foundation to correct the plumbing and then re-pouring the concrete. I still think it looks dramatically better though.

I need to get off my a$$ and clean something, this house looks awful! I've just been SOOOOO tired! I HATE IT!

Oh Jackie, how long does it take for you to get your Amazon gift cards once you order them? It seems like they are taking a long time.

ya thank goodness i havn't dealt with cockroaches!! they don't really do anything just scurry around. I'm not even sure if they bite or not. I had to look up why it's called that. Apparently there is an old wives tale that they went in your ears and layed eggs in your brain. LOL I don't think they do that, but that sounds nasty.

Why am I up at six am. Mil came down last night and I think they bought a dog with them, seriously who turns up as a guest at someones house with a dog without checking it,s all good. Hubby wants Ronin to stay home with them today then informs me last night he has training today so it will just be his mum watching Ronin for the morning. I'm sure she will complain behind my back

Wendy, didn't your MIL kind of disown all 3 of you after Ronin was born? I guess all that stuff didn't teach her to respect you any. I really think your hubby should have a talk with her about how she's being ugly to you. I think it's very disrespectful to bring a dog and not even warn you that they are bringing one.

My own MIL and FIL were supposed to start coming into town once a month to watch Lyla for me while I went to my check-ups, but MIL has had 2 more episodes with her heart since mid August and they still don't know what's wrong with her. FIL is 75 years old and the idea that something could happen while they are alone with Lyla freaks me out. The have big signs at my OB's office that say you have to have another adult with you to watch any kids you bring, but I'm thinking if I keep her strapped in a stroller she'll be alright with me. From here on out the appointments are generally short and painless . . . :dontknow:

Yeah she did still doesn't speak with me. If they are up and about before I need to go to work I will just go in extra early to keep the peace. I should get up and make Ronin's lunch, but seriously she and hubby should be able to manage it but I don't trust them to because they didn't last time.

I hope your appointment goes well, I can see why they have that rule but for some people it's just not possible to have another adult there or to not have to bring your child.

Anna, I was going to say what about your SIL but then I realized that probably wasn't a good idea. Do you have any siblings nearby?

they are pretty small, maybe the size of your fingernail? they are pretty common here. My dad actually gets them a lot at his house and he lives in the country.

Yeah, I can't even imagine a situation in which I would allow SIL to be alone with Lyla, much less babysit her. Her grandson has had 2 major choking incidents under her watch just because refused to listen to what his MOM told her about feeding him correctly (because she's ALWAYS right and everone else is wrong). Every single one of my 4 siblings is 5.5 hours away. Sad

If they are that small, I think I may have seen one in my bathroom before, but didn't know what it was. Tiny things? When you see them running around are they bendy and look like tiny baby centipedes?

I was just peeling some lettuce for a salad and found bugs inside:puke2: they were really small, and maybe this is common, but i have never seen it before and it grossed me out. Then I remembered a story I heard where someone was peeling lettuce and there was a big nasty grasshopper inside
