Ok so Ronin is too smart for his own good. He can't walk but when we went to the library he whinged to get down and held my hands to walk. We got to the end of the row of shelves which is a different one than we usually go down, looks both ways to the two rooms at the back, one is cds and large print novels the other is the kids books but you can't see too much of the inside of either from where we were. I said which way bubba and he looked again and started going to the kids room. Think we go to the library a bit too much.

"ange84" wrote:

I don't have a will and have no idea who would or could take our kids if we were to die. I don't know anyone who could, my two closest friends probably wouldn't one is not big on kids, the other will likely not be able to, Ronin's Godparents already have 3 of their own and his other Godparent is my brother and right now I wouldn't choose hime because he is still quite immature.

"alwayssmile" wrote:

He does change diapers, but only the ones that are like disposable diapers where he doesn't have to do anything other than velcro (sometimes snap). I was doing diaper laundry today and we were all out of his favorite diapers. lol.

"AnnaRO" wrote:

We don't have a will yet, but we are working on getting that set up. We have decided who would get our kids if we were both to die. I've discussed it with my SIL and she accepted that she and her DH will happily take our kids. This is DH's other sister, not the crazy one that I complain about. This SIL has a parenting style that is very similar to mine and they have the same religious beliefs and the have the financial ability to provide for them. DH's parents are too old, my parents wouldn't provide any structure, my sister is irresponsible and I hate her parenting style, my brother is not at all prepared for that kind of responsibility, and DH's other sister is insane (literally). Really we only have the one option. She also said that she and BIL are going to change their will to make us guardians of their 3 kids in the same event. They had BIL's sister, but they've had a pretty serious falling out. Haha, that was long. Sorry.

Jackie, that diaper is funny! I love it! I take it that means your DH doesn't routinely change diapers? I love that my DH is completely willing to change diapers. He changed at least half the diapers today, including 2 of the 5 poopy ones.

Old picture but how a prefold under a cover should look.

lol i looked at the first picture and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. The second one looked a little off though.

"janijanis" wrote:

oh boy Jackie, that diaper looks a little off!;) at least he tried.

that is what I am afraid of. If they were to agree, we would be leaving him with friends and not family and i am pretty sure both sides of our family would make a stink about it so I guess it would be better if we had a lawyer instead of just writing our "wishes" down somewhere. It's actually kind of sad he wouldn't go to family but honestly, I wouldn't want him with any of them from either side! Well, I would be ok with DH's sister taking him, but I really don't think they would be able to afford it and I wouldn't want to put that stress on them.

I try not to think about it Lauren, I do this all the time where I get myself all worried and then it's not even an issue. I guess I would rather be prepared and expect the worst. Your right, normally depending on the job it would be 8-4, my job is just 24/7 with all the different depts I have to work with. Warehouses, transport etc. When I leave at 4:00 generally my inbox is empty, but there are still people working when we go home and sometimes there are issues if nobody is there to respond.

"alwayssmile" wrote:

There are "extra" snaps on the rise part (allows the cover to fit smaller babies and toddlers both). But still not sure how he got the inside part outside of the cover. . . . lol

I always forget how smart babies are. Lucas surprises me all the time with things he "says"/does

So today is Lucas' first full day at daycare. I cried after DH left with him:( Wth am I going to do all day?

Janice, you are going to wonder what Lucas is doing all day, that's what.

Jackie, I am about to start working on some blinkies for the March '12 board and soon the April '12 board, so I'll be in full blinkie mode! I think making some joint ones is a great idea. I don't want any of the Novemeber mommies to feel less than totally welcome and included. I hadn't even thought about the blinkies though. Smile

DH is still here! They still haven't called him back out and I hope they don't till after the weekend. SIL's wedding is tomorrow so it would be nice to have him there with us.

Anna, I totally have been!

It is quiet. Funny that you spend all your time taking care of your baby and then you have no idea what to do with yourself when they are gone!

I've been under a blanket on the couch watching season 1 of breaking bad and now Dexter:rolleyes: At some point I guess I will get up and clean.

DH and I decided on a middle name for our next baby should it be a boy. Drum roll please ...... Carson! Its another reference to an obscure scientist. Teagan Tesla is named after a crazy (and downright awesome!) Serbian physicist, Nikola Tesla. If baby #2 is a boy, he will be Something Carson, named after marine biologist (and conservationist) Rachel Carson. She wrote Silent Spring, basically started the modern conservationist movement, and her work prompted the formation of the EPA. Bonus that we really like the name! Don't know what we'll do if we have another girl Blum 3

ROFL "Hi, I named my son after a TV serial killer." Cause that's normal.

You can do it!!!

Think on the bright side. You're not prepping for an 9 day road trip, followed by a 2 week trip home which includes a birthday party now, and followed by moving. All in less than 2 months. I'm already overwhelmed. Which is why I'm sitting on the couch updating my iPhone to the new iOS 5.

Erin, DH did all the dishes I had let pile up the morning after he got home while I was out getting my toes done, and he's been keeping my kitchen clean. He just started doing laundry today without me ever saying a thing. I love it!

Janice, they had Dexter on some other channel that I get for a little bit and I became obsessed with it for a while. I even got the whole first or second season on Netflix before I cancelled that, but since it's on Showtime only now I don't get to watch it anymore. I like the name Dexter, but after that show, I'm not sure I could name my child that.

Erin, you could do Carson as a middle name for a girl, or you do Rachel for a girl's middle name.

Lauren, Good luck with Natalie's party! I hope that you get everything set up the way you want with the change in date.

Speaking of names and baby-ness, my next appointment is November 1, and my OB said that two weeks after that is when I'll have my BIG u/s. I'm nearly 15 weeks! This is going by a LOT faster than my first pregnancy! Oh!! And I felt movement!!! The night before last I felt the baby move after I went to bed!! Things are getting very exciting!

awww your DH is so sweet. OMG 15 week movement? Yahoo woo hoo!!! how exciting!! I can't wait for your big ultrasound.

we have season 1 of Dexter on dvd and I had only seen an episode here or there so I am watching it all from the beginning. My brother is huge into movies and tv and stuff as well and I am pretty sure he has the rest on dvd so I will just borrow them from him after. we swap tv shows back and forth haha. It's a good show!

Good hubby! Holy moly! How is your pregnancy going so fast? It feels like just yesterday you were posting POAS pics. Big US already?! Are you going to find out the sex this time? Did you feel movement this early with Lyla? You're not helping my baby fever!

Teagan's daycare is closed today for Sukkot (don't ask, I have no idea) so DH is at home with T. He keeps texting me with questions. Its as if he's never watched her before! He's like, "she's screaming at me. What do I do!" Really?

LOL, that is hilarious!! I love it!

I felt movement with Lyla the first time at 17w 2d. This one was 14w 4d. It just makes everything more exciting!

We are stuffed if we have another boy, we have a girls name ready this time, Abigail Jean, but no boys name. We use family names for middle names so I guess we will be breaking out the family trees for some middle name inspiration

DH just left. The called an hour ago and told him to get to New Mexico ASAP, and we have no idea how long he'll be there. I closed the door when he left and immediately started bawling and I can't stop. I feel so pathetic. At least we had 2.5 days before they took him from me. I just really wanted him to be here tomorrow. Ugh. I have to get myself together!

:grouphug: It's okay to cry because it's does suck. Remind yourself later of all the positives of him doing this job.

So my son decided that he wanted to scream for 70 minutes straight this afternoon. No idea why. My head is pounding and where is DH? At the gym playing racquetball not answering his phone. I am not the kind of person who does well with a screaming child for that long. Sad And as suddenly as he started screaming he stopped. WTF kid. :banghead:

Anna, Im a tad bit confused with you dh job.. Does he have any set days off at all?

Ladies you will be proud of me. I cleaned alot today.. I cleaned my kitchen, cleared off all the counters, put crap away, went through all my junk mail(alot of it) and organized our desk. Then I cleaned my dining room and the bookself. I also cleaned my bathroom/toilet/tub/countertops. I also dusted..Gave the dog a bath and did most of the laundry. Tomorrow I have to finish the laundry and do the carpet upstairs. Hopefully dh will finish the with molding he was putting upstairs too. I will still have to clean both kids rooms and then the porch and pick up the outside. And try to keep the dang house clean after all that.. Saturday will be purely cooking any other cleaning I need to do.

But I still have homework/bible study and a 5 mile run I have to do tomorrow..Booo!

Anna- Big huge hugs! Being away from DH must be hard. Not knowing how long he'll be away must be really really hard.

Lauren- Braggart. Wink

Teagan's top left canine popped through today. We have 13 now! The other top canine is days away. She did a fair amount of screaming for DH today. I don't know what was up. He said she kept crawling up to closed doors and crying. He thinks she was trying to find me. Poor thing. Now that I'm home, she's fine.

No. We never know how long he will be gone. When he gets sent home, we don't have any idea how long he will be home. Others in the same job have been gone from home as long as 60 days and been called back out to another job after being home for 3 hours. Those are extreme examples, but they do happen. On average, he will be gone about 20 to 25 days a month. We are only doing this because the money is awesome in the last 4 weeks, DH has already made what would have taken him 3.5 months to earn at his last job. Once he finishes the training process he'll make 5x what he was making before. We just have to make some sacrafices for the next 2 to 3 years.

I wish I had the energy and motivation to do that much in one day, Lauren!

Erin, I bet she was looking for you. She thought you were meanly hiding from her. Poor baby.

My SIL is a moron! She just posted on her FB that she had to see a judge about getting a special waiver of the waiting period for her wedding. In Texas you have to go get your marriage license 3 days before you get married. You might be saying, 'Now Anna, it's reasonable that someone might not know that.' However, this is her 4th, yes FOURTH, marriage and all in the state of Texas! Stupid.

I think she's also exhibiting some passive-aggressive behaviors lately. She called earlier while I was in the bathroom and I called her back right away, as in, within 2 minutes! She didn't answer. She doesn't leave messages when she calls and then later when you talk to her she has a 'tone' when says, "I called you". Like she's accusing you of deliberately avoiding her call or as if she expects a full, detailed explanation of why you didn't answer her phone call.

I know I'm more irritable that usual.

She probably was! DH said that's what Aiden did when I ran to the commissary earlier this week.

I still can't believe how many teeth she has. Aiden's are soooooo slow and take forever to come through!

Lauren, he's working for an oil company in directional drilling. He's not actually on the drilling rig, but does all the reports, analyzing, and surveying for the directional drilling part of it. He's on night shift and works from 6p to 6a, but while he's in training he's also up most of the day with the day guy to learn.

So today is the day that my SIL gets married for the 4th time. It's also the day that JBF sale starts here. It opens at 10am and I think I'm gonna go. There are a few things I could use, so hopefully I'll find them there.

I need your help. I want a new infant carseat for my little Easter Egg because I HATE the one I had for Lyla. Which one did you have and how did you like it?

Skip the first day of the JBF sale. Wait until the last day when everything is 50% off. I've always been disappointed in what I found there when I went on the early days. On 50% off day, the clothes become a really good deal.

We went straight with a convertible seat instead of an infant carrier. Since I babywear, I didn't need (or want) to lug an infant carrier around. It makes me cringe when I see babies in infant carriers perched in grocery carts after I read what happened to the one baby. Also, the convertible seat is safer because I never have to worry about putting it back into the base properly. We have an Evenflow Triumph Advance. It was the highest rated car seat on Consumer Report at the time. I'm happy with it. Its not the prettiest but its a car seat. Its meant to save my baby's life in an accident, not serve as a fashion statement. Its large but all convertible seats are. Its 35 lbs R, 65 lbs F. The next one I buy, I'll try to find one that's rated higher for rear-facing.

Anna, I remember you talking about this before. What brand did you use for Lyla and what did you dislike about it (wasn't it that it was a thin covering over plastic?)?
We have a Maxi Cosi Mico. Loved the padding. Only good to 22lbs. DS fits for weight now (but for a couple of months he was at/slightly above 22lbs w/ clothes which is the weight that matters). Not sure about height. So not the longest lasting car seat, but that didn't personally bother me. My Vegas friend bought a Chicco seat. It's rated well by fellow parents. Her only complaint is that the infant insert doesn't do anything for their head bobbing side to side like other car seats, but since her baby isn't born yet she's not sure if it'll be an issue or not.

And definitely check out Albeebaby.com's closeout car seats. Right now they have maxi cosi micos for as low as $99. They have chicco carseats for as low as $130. Not bad!

I used to have more opinions on car seats, but they've escaped me since it's been over a year since I last took a good look at them and researched them.

And now I'm sidetracked on Albeebaby. ROFL

http://www.albeebaby.com/maxi-cosi-foray-travel-system-choco-mint.html
Great fun stroller with car seat for $289. Not that anybody on here is wanting infant travel systems for one kiddo anymore. lol.

OMG! Quinny Zapp for $139! http://www.albeebaby.com/quinny-zapp-stroller-2009-strawberry.html Must be because the new Zapp Extra is out now with a couple of cooler features, but that new stroller has to have the seat taken off to fold it! How annoying!
Remind this baby wearer that she doesn't need a 3rd stroller please. ROFL

Man, double strollers are expensive! If I wasn't already a dedicated babywearer that would seal the deal for me if I was expecting #2! lol.

Anna we had a combi seat. I loved everything about it beside the buckles! I hated buckling her up, it always seemed too tight.

I think it's Just Between Friends. Isn't it like a consignment store or something? We obviously don't have one here. ha ha.

So we learned today that there's zero chance of us staying at temp facilities on base for our 3 month stay at Sheppard AFB (at least according to the unhelpful lady who answered the phone there today). Off to try and find a non-scary short term lease apartment.

Morning, did you know theres a 5 in the morning. Yup I don't lie, there really is because thats when I had to get up btoday, a Saturday mind you. Worked kicked my butt yesterday, it is so chaotic so much stuff is happening all at once, sll the staff are feeling the effects and getting run down.

Today I am off to visit my Grandfather, it's only a 3 hour 1 way drive. My Mum will be here in about an hour to head off anfd the mini over lord just woke up.

Hello ladies!!!

I have heard a myth about 5 in the morning, but I try not to find out if it's true or not. I hope your trip goes well for you.

See I saved you the pain of finding out yourself it exists. OMG coffee doesn't even work this early. The mini overlord woke up and is now nursing away and I haven't got anything ready for him, no nappies, no snacks, no clothes. I know my Mum will help if she gets here and it's not done yet, but I am in my bra and undies so she can't turn up yet and the way Ronin nurses in the morning, especially if it's earlier than usual is latch on and don't let go.

Thank you!!! I do owe you one. I love the mini overlord comment, that is funny!!! I hate it when DS wakes up before I have a chance to do anything to get ready. It makes it a bit stressful sometimes. I'm sure it really is for you today since you have to be such a long trip ahead of you.

He has many names, mini overlord, monster man (or just monster) the little guy/dude. Usually he is the mini overlord in the mornings because he can be very demanding when he first wakes up, monster man is most of the day, but it's said lovingly.

This is why you shouldn't check your emails this early, I just got a remittance advice for some money for an organisation I volunteer with ( I am the contact point for the group from our state office). I freaked out because I thought we owed it to them then re read the email to see why and realised it was because they had owed us. Small heartattack over. I thought we no longer had any money left from our insurance to purchase our contents if we had owed them.

I bet you did have a heart attack!! Nice to know they owe you and not the other way around. Is the mini overlord still nursing?

Nope he went back to sleep so now I will run around to get things ready, but I'll be popping in and out.

Well at least you may be able to get some stuff done before your mom gets there.

At least I will be dressed. On to making snacks now, it's a pain because there is so little that will do well for the day in the car and while we are out, esppecially on a 86 plu degree day
