Anna-By my looking it seems to be the 90th%ile. I have all the charts in Ronin's health record
Anna, I'm so glad Lyla is doing much better and that you had fun on your trip.
He has a huge red spot on his face today it looks like a huge pimple. DH's cousin said it could be related to drooling but it is pretty high on his cheek.
I made acorn squash for him today it's in the freezer:) Not sure when i will give it to him yet, maybe this week.....I am getting more impatient about waiting until 6 months. Now i need to go out and get more I like making baby food!
Making baby food is so fun, I did carrot yesterday. I never realised it was so sweet. The only commercial food I am planning on buying (except for emergencies and possibly travelling) id custards simply because I know they are specially made for babies, and I like them too
ya, I love it!! I couldn't find our ice cube trays except for a sesame street one so all the squash are in the shape of elmo and cookie monster lol. I will have to get some more. The only ones in a jar i plan on buying are meat. Something about grinding up meat and pureeing it makes me want to puke. either that or i will give him tiny pices that are shredded when he is old enough. havn't decided yet. are you adding the water to it now or later? I left it out to add later...
Anna, glad you had fun!
(And Aiden's 17.25" head is 93%....glad to find out Aiden isn't the only big head kid!)
I'm getting soooo impatient when it comes to baby food! I don't necessarily want to feed it to him, but I want to make it! lol. But I'm holding off on making anything till we find out about DH's next step in training.
Speaking of which, here's how that goes (more than any of you probably ever wanted to know )....With the Air Force, during the first 6 months of pilot training everybody flies the exact same plane (the T-6). After that, there are 4 different training airframes they can go to for another 6 months of training (T-38 fighters, T-1 heavy/cargo, helicopters, and T-44 where you WILL fly the C-130 as your career plane). Two of the planes, the T-38 and T-1, would mean us staying here. If he gets helicopters or T-44s, we'll be moving. What he gets depends on his class ranking. He wants T-38, but if he doesn't get it he's asking for T-44. In DHs class there are 28 guys. Of those, 6 should be T-38, 1 helicopter, max of 4 to T-44 and the rest get T-1. If DH gets T-44, we'd have to move to Corpus Christi because that training is done with the Navy. After the next phase of training is completed, he'll graduate, get his wings, find out what plane he'll fly, and then go to training for that particular career plane (anywhere from 3 months to a year). I really can't wait till all of this is over with. lol.
The fruits I added water too, everything else I didn't and will add as I need to.
Luke has such a tiny head! I think it was 15 1/2" at his 4 mo. I know it was 5th %, whatever it was.
I really am supposed to be in bed right now, but I'm kind of freaking out. Yesterday I found a snake in my house!! Ewww, ewww, ewww, EEEEEEEEWWWWWW!!! I thought I was going to have a heart attack! It was little, but still! I killed it b/c I was too scared to try and get it out alive, I thought it might jump on me! Eeeeeewwwwwwwww!!! Did I mention that I am deathly afraid of snakes? Anyways, I'm so paranoid that there are more somewhere. What if it gets me while I'm sleeping? I think I need to call some pest control people ASAP tomorrow morning!!!
Woot, hubby gets to learn how difficult an afternoon can be tomorrow. I have training for work which finishes at 5, but it is an hour or so drive away, so I won't be home until 6/6:30 depending on traffic, so hubby has to pick Ronin up from daycare and get dinner ready. Ohh I hope Ronin has a bad day.
I am also going to say very quietly Ronin has gone down by 8:30ish the last 4 nights, I wonder how long he will sleep tonight seeing as I don't have to pick hubby up. Anyone have any secrets for getting a bub out of a car without waking them, I can get him in fine, but he always wakes up getting out and I only have the capsule for another month so have to try and learn ways of not just taking that out of the car and lugging it up the stairs.
Jackie that is very interesting. What about like an f-15, F-16, or A-10. Does he only fly cargo type planes? My dh currently works on the Reaper, but before he has worked on all 3 types of jets.
Veronica, Natalies head was only 15 inches too at her 4mth checkup.. HOLY moly on the snake. I couldnt sleep either. Could you imagine.. EEEKK..Hey but at least you faced your fear!!:)
Wendy!! AHAHAHHAAHAHAH.. That is funny, I hope Ronin is naughty for you dh too!
Im still devastated with my church issues. I could never imagine in a million years that this stuff could happen.
Yesterday I found a snake in my house!! Ewww, ewww, ewww, EEEEEEEEWWWWWW!!!
CRAZY!! I would completely freak out and I don't have an irrational fear of snakes. Around here though, snake equals rattler. It wasn't a rattler was it? How freaky! I agree about getting someone over there to make sure there aren't more hiding somewhere.
Wendy, Maybe if your hubby has Ronin on a rough night he will learn to appreciate all you do. At least for a little while.
Gotta go, baby is ready for a nap, I think.
A snake in your house?!?! Yeah, I'd totally panic. Let's be honest I'd probably run screaming out of the house with baby and cat in tow. So you're very brave in my book Veronica!
Wendy, we can only get Aiden out of the carseat without him waking up if he's completely in a dead sleep. But then the problem is that he will then wake up as soon as we put him down out of our arms. What I've recently started doing is using a carrier (usually my ring sling) to take him in and out of the car (so I have hands free and don't have to make multiple trips). I'm starting to be able to take him out asleep, put him tummy to tummy in the ring sling, and have him fall back asleep there. I usually end up having to let him finish his nap in the sling though - still working on getting him out of it still asleep (though I have seen videos of how to do this!).
Lauren, those are career planes. To get a fighter (F-15, F-16, F-22, A-10, F-35) you have to fly T-38 during pilot training. So out of 28 guys in a class, about 6 get T-38, and of those 6 maybe 3 gets a fighter. DH's dream is to fly an F-15 (E model though) or an A-10. But if he doesn't get T-38 then he has zero chance of flying a fighter. My husband before pilot training was an engineer working on fighters. He loved it, but would rather fly one than deal with the miles of wiring and all the software in one. lol.
Wendy- I got nothing for ya. My kids won't even stay asleep in the car if I stop for more than a few minutes. Sorry! Good luck though.
Veronica- I'd probably be nervous about a snake in the house. We have lots of little garden snakes around here and black snakes in the barn (which we encourage to keep the mice away), but not in my house. My dogs like to kill snakes (which p!sses me off if they get the barn snakes), maybe you should think about getting a dog to keep the house rodent free
Anna- Sounds like you had a good time! I'm so happy you went. Do you feel more confident about your abilities now? I remember the first time I was out of town and alone with DS. I was so nervous about not having DH to help, but after I did it, I felt like I could do anything.
Lauren- I must have missed something. I don't know what church issues you're talking about. I'll go back and try to find it. We have been going through a transition in my church right now. They transferred our priest at the beginning of this year (I cried) and now they can't find anyone willing to come here. We are a huge congregation with a full school attached, pre-k through 12th grade and it has a big enrollment too. Our priest also has to take care of a couple of outlying churches. I heard recently that our priest feels like he's on vacation at his new church cause there's not near as much work as ours takes Our Bishop was brand new and he made this decision to move him. I guess he was in town last weekend for the 8th grade Confirmation and said, he wouldn't have made the same decision had he known then what he knows now. We're just floating along with fill in priests right now.
Christa, our current base church doesn't have a priest either right now. Ours quit because he got into a huge argument with upper ranking base personnel (he refused to do "Sunday school" any other time other than Saturday afternoons which doesn't work for a lot of families). I really wasn't that fond of him. We supposedly hired a new one (it's a government position through the military since it's a base chapel) and was told that he'd take over masses at the beginning of this month, but I have yet to see him or meet him! We still have priests come in from out in town.
Hehehehe... totally random... thought I'd share
Anna, did you realize that we're less than 3 hours away from each other? I knew we were close but I just now made that connection. lol. Maybe I'll make a trip there sometime for some real shopping and to see you before I leave hell...I mean Del Rio.
I knew Del Rio was about 3 hours from here. We have a group of friends that goes out there once every summer and rent a houseboat and have a hayday on the lake there for about a week. We never get the invite. San Angelo doesn't have anything that Del Rio doesn't have, but we could meet up in San Antonio for a weekend. I've never gone shopping there, but I hear they have some great outlet stores. . .
If you end up in Corpus Christi though, I will definitely force my company on you. My brother lives there and my parents live 30 minutes from there. So consider yourself warned if you end up there.
Stacy, I love that video. She looks so excited to be making racket in the jumper thingy.
You have more than a Walmart Anna, therefore have real shopping!
oh man, so lucas has been fussing because i think he is now overtired and won't sleep. So i went "ughhhhh go to sleep!!" not really mad, but a little frustrated and he laughed at me!!!! kids lol
Janis, Aiden likes to do that. lol.
Today Aiden has been Mr. Grumpy with me, but as soon as he's with DH he's Mr. Happy. Kid you not. I try to put Aiden down for a nap and he screams for an hour straight with me holding and rocking him. DH goes to put him down for a nap, he babbles to himself for a few minutes and drifts off to sleep. Since DH is done with flying, he did the primary caregiving this afternoon. I went to the commissary, made strawberry cupcakes just because, and made chicken enchiladas for dinner.
I have been lurking but ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so busy the last month or two. Melissa finally got a car so I had to take mine it to have the front wheel checked out (it was making funny noises)...$800 later it drives like a dream and it only took $65 to fill it up vs. close to $100 in the diesel truck!!!
I hope all is well with everyone.
Delaney is sitting up on her own for short periods of time now. She is such a funny kids. She woke me up at 2am last night grunting, trying to poop...but she finally got it out.
Oh and I still haven't had my period this month  I'm totally freaked out about it too......I'm usually 28 days, like clock work. AF was due the 20th  I will DIE if I'm preggo. I'm to afraid to test too.....
AND HOW IS YOUR WEEK GOING?????
Let us know if AF shows or not! (I think I'd be panicking too ) Yay for having a sitting baby!
Oh crap! Test already! I can't stand the not knowing!!! LOL, I'm a crazy POAS addict, in case you can't tell!
Laurene- I would definitely be too afraid not to test if I were in your shoes! Maybe your AF decided that Taryl's AF was having so much fun on vacation, she decided to join her
janijanis- that is too cute about him smiling at you like that! Thank goodness they're cute and funny, it keeps us from beating them
I am so jealous of you girls and your sunshine and warm weather! It's been in the 70's here for almost a week now. I love it. The high for the next (at least) 6 days here, 40 freakin degrees!!! We've been in t-shirts and flip flops for a week, now we have to break out the coats again. :argh: I'm not a happy camper right now. We are soaking up all the sunshine we can today.
Laurene - for some reason I thought you had gotten your tubes tied? Idk why I thought that! KUP if you decide to test!
I've been freaking out about snakes for days now. I refuse to walk barefoot in my house now, and I have to shake out my shoes before I put them on and shake out the bedclothes before going to bed at night. Yuck, yuck, yuck! I hate snakes!
Yesterday a man shot 2 police officers and killed 1 of them, just a few miles away from where I live. He was wanted for a carjacking and kidnapping a few weeks ago, and when the officer stopped him he got out and shot him and his backup. The scary part is that this guy is still on the run. They think he is still in the area, although now on the opposite part of town from where I live. I really hope they catch him soon. It did make me a little nervous last night and I left all the outside lights on and double checked to make sure everything was locked up tight. I hope karma comes back to get the SOB.
OMG Veronica, that is horrible. Totally lock up and stay as safe as you can. Even bring on the snakes as long as it keeps that crazy man away from you guys.
Laurene--Test! test! test! Yay for her sitting! How's the grandbaby? You know we need more pics.
Christa--The weather has been like that here too. I'm ready for spring and some warm.
I have a yucky cold, which I can handle, but its ending with one of those horrible coughs. Baby has it too. I hate this stupid cough though because I keep waking Odin up as I nurse him to sleep. Frustrating.
I got DS up this morning and asked him if he wanted to try wearing underwear again today (we've tried a couple times, but not fully committed yet). He said no. This is the first time he has not only not been excited about wearing underwear, but flat out didn't want to. So, I convinced him it would be a great idea. Two puddles on my carpet and one on my tile later, we still have underwear on, my carpet needs cleaned, my tile needs scrubbed and I am tired! I don't like potty training, it's hard and it's frustrating for me and I'm sure he feels the same. Any pointers from the BTDT mommas would be greatly appreciated! My sitter mostly potty trained DD1 for me so really, I'm a newbie to this.
i don't really know either but i have 2 nephews that are a little older then him. does he have any issues with going to the bathroom? (scared, doesn't tell you when he has to go, tells you too late) anything like that? i have heard some people say they put a cheerio in the toilet and have their kid aim for it LOL i guess that makes it a fun activity? or helps him aim.
ETA GIMME YOUR SUNSHINE!!!!! lol Remember that outside posted in Lucas' DITLO thread? this is what i woke up to this morning and it has been going all day. 15+cms so far.
Veronica....I DID get my tubes tied!!!!
Christa - potty training is on THEIR terms...we are FINALLY potty trained and the real thing that convinced her was telling her no school for her if she didn't go. She has been good about going pee for quite so time....then one day she just pooped in the toilet (got a $.50 piece) and that was it. She's only had 1 accident pooing in 3 weeks and that was at my work last Friday and I think it was because she didn't know where the toilet was. When is he 3? Miranda just turned 3 the end of Feb.
Laurene- He'll be 3 in August. I really don't think he's ready yet. Eveyone's been saying something lately about him not being potty trained so I though I'd give it a go, but I just really don't think he's ready. He has no problem sitting on the potty, he's not scared or anything. He just won't tell me when he has to go and he gets frustrated sitting on the potty every hour or half hour when he knows he doesn't have to go. I think I'm going to have to wait until he's better at verbally expressing himself. I was really hopeful, especially after he woke up from his nap dry. I don't think it's that he can't hold it, it's just that he's not sure when he has to go or maybe doesn't get the connection between having to potty and needing to tell me.
janijanis- You win! I'll quick complaining We had 74 degree weather today, it was amazingly beautiful....tomorrow.....there's a chance of snow. blah!!
ETA: on a much happier note, I get my Mac Book Pro Friday!! Yeah, I can't wait to dive into it and play around on it.
Hey ladies! Just checking in. It's getting harder and harder to follow this thread. I think I might have to give up for awhile.
We're going out for Teagan's first camping trip this weekend! It's RV camping but she's gotta start somewhere. My Dad just got an enormous RV and he's swinging through town to take us out on it's maiden voyage. It's still getting below freezing up in the mountains so it'll be nice to have the RV to keep Teagan warm. I'll take loads of pics!
Christa, I'm sooo excited for you about your laptop! The new Pros are wonderful (it's what I'm on right now). :yay:
Erin, camping sounds like a lot of fun! Can't wait to see pics.
Janis, if I could send heat your way I would! It's down right HOT already. Blah.
Christa - GL potty training! I don't have any advice, but I'll be there w/ you soon. I can tell that Lily is getting there, but she's not quite ready yet. She likes to sit on the potty, and will pee in it pretty much every time she does, but she hasn't been able to usually tell me when she needs to go. Plus I just really don't have the patience right now. I think I'll take a few vacation days over the summer and really work on it then. She doesn't turn 3 until November though.
Erin - Have fun camping!
Janis - OMG, all that snow is crazy! I'm so greatful for our beautiful spring weather. And I was complaining b/c the high tomorrow will only be in the 60's!
Erin--have fun camping! We can't wait to take O this summer when its warm outside.
Christa--I think you may just have to wait. I'm no expert on the whole potty thing but I've done it with DS1 and just finished training 3 boys and 2 girls at preschool, fun. From what I'm noticing is that the boys tend to be turing 3 when they are ready. I've had a 2.5 year old boy that was overly verbal train but it took a little longer and he was able to communicate better. I tried with some of the boys early on (age 2-2.5) and it was a no-go but when they turned 3 it was much easier. The girls seem game around 2-2.5 years. Anyway my boys all need incentive as well. The girls too, but they were less dependent on it and were just happy to be doing it on their own. I make potty charts for all of the kids that start with like 3-5 spaces and then grow to have 5-10 spaces as they get the hang of it. The charts varried a little depending on the kid but basically they get a sticker on their chart for each pee/poo (some for just the attempt at first) and a treat (1 m&m for my preschool kids, DS1 it was a honey treat). Once they fill up their chart they get to pick out of the prize box (DS1 it was a special toy). Now I'm totally not a big one on rewarding expected behavior, goes against everything for me, but seriously this was the only thing that got me through potty training and I'm finding its working really well for the preschool kids I've had the honor to train. Oh, and poo is a whole different thing for boys. Sometimes it takes another couple months after they get the pee thing down. The girls have been cool with it from the beginning but all the boys refuse to poop on the darn toilet and keep going in their pants for a while. Yuck. That has to be the worst part for me. Sorry for the novel.
Joy, it seems like you are definitely the expert at potty training! Thanks for the chart idea, I think I will have to use that with Lily!
Have fun camping Erin
Anyone who wants heat can have some of ours we have enough to share
So Ronin is a little charmer, most people who meet him want to take him home. Today at day care they were telling me one of the preschool girls was playing with him and told the day carer that she wanted to take him home. The day carer explained she would have to ask her Mummy and Daddy about another baby because Ronin has a Mummy and Daddy already, to which the pre school girl replied "I don't want any baby, I want that baby". He already has another of the pre school girls wrapped around his little finger, but she is fine because she has a 4 month old baby sister to go home to.
Veronica....I DID get my tubes tied!!!!
It's probably nothing. I'd test though, 17 years ago my aunt who had her tubes tied had a bouncing baby boy. The peace of mind will be worth it
This is what I'm worried about! I did test and it was negative....it's probably the stress in my life. Still no AF tho.
Joy- I have tried the reward thing with DS and he could care less. Or maybe not care less, but he doesn't seem to get the link between getting a treat or whatever and his actions. I think you're right though, I think he'll be closer to 3. Two of my friends had babies the same time he was born and they have been potty trained for 6 months so everyone has just been asking why Grady isn't. I should know better than to push him though, he's done everything later than those two. I was getting my hopes up about not buying diapers, but *shrug* no biggie.
It's snowing! Snow! Are you kidding me? I was wearing shorts yesterday. This sucks! (yes, janijanis, I'm complaining again ).
We are going to look at 2 houses Friday night. I don't think they are going to work, but I want to get a feel for the size and layout of the houses. We have decided to look at houses below the price we would ask for our house, in the hopes that if we do actually decide to move that we can be mortgage free. I want to see what's out there on the market for that price range and get an idea of whether or not I can live with it. I know it sounds very bratty of me, but it's really hard to go backwards. We have a really nice house now, so we're trying to figure out what is more important to us, having a house that is comparable to ours and having a mortgage or not having a mortgage and getting a house that is not quite as nice.
That totally makes sense about wanting no mortgage and wanting everything in your house. I'd want it all too! Yay for going to go look at houses. Maybe seeing what is out there will help you with your choice to move or not. Ack, snow? That is some major change in weather!
Wendy--That is too cute!
Laurene--How crazy would that be after having your tubes tied! Does having that done do anything to your cycle in the long run or is it business as usual? I've never really thought about if it would effect it or not.
I think Odin's overall sleep if finally changing fo rthe better. I don't want to jinx it so I'll have to go more into detail once its a regular thing. Either way its been a really good week!
christa, complain away! it's sunny here today and now the roads are slush and puddles Yuck! house shopping is always exciting i hope you find what you are looking for.
Laurene, I'm glad you have an answer!
Erin, have lots of fun camping! i am not a huge fan, but i like rv's lol
Ok Erin, what is this camping you speak of that doesn't involve a camper!?
You never know you might find a nice house in the lower price range. We did, but ti wasn't quite for us (backed onto forest an d cow paddocks, I worried about snakes and I wasn't keen on the pool)but it was cheaper because they wanted a quick sale due to divorce
Laurene that would of been crazy if you were prego but I would of been so excited for you! A true miracle since your tied!
Snow sucks! Stacy and Jani! It snowed here too. We got what you got but thankfully it wasnt as much as your pic. Maybe about 4 inches and it started to melt today!!
So I might be going to Ohio Sunday and Monday.. Anyone live near Huron?
Christa, good luck figuring out what you want!
I got fabric in the mail today for me to make my own wrap. Yeah, as many issues as I had with the Moby, I'm wanting to try it again. But in case I didn't like it, I figured I'd go cheap and just buy fabric. For about $20 I've got enough for two wraps. Just need to cut them down because they're too long. And find someone to sew the cut ends so it doesn't fray (any one know of a way to do this without sewing since well, I don't?).
And find someone to sew the cut ends so it doesn't fray (any one know of a way to do this without sewing since well, I don't?)
You can get fabric glue. My sister secured her patches on her military uniform that way. You can also get this stuff that's like a meshy kind of tape. You can use it to hem the ends, you iron it and it sticks the fabric together.
I have stuff like that and its called 'Wonder Under', love it.
I'm starting to re-like my moby (hated it for a while) since I can wear Odin facing outward and he can intereact with all my preschool kids more. He loves facing out that way even though I'm not sure its an approved carry.
I am in a feral mood right now. Since my Mum threw my wallet out I have had to get a new banl card. When I rang to order one I asked if my savings account could be linked temporarily to my visa debit because thankfully it was next to the computer so not thrown out. They said no. I ordered a card and it takes up to 5 business days so I got it on Monday. The pin number takes 2 business days after the card is what I was told on the phone, it's Friday and still no pin so still no access to my money. I can't go to the bank to get a pin instantly because in my lunch break I have to express and eat myselgf, and frankly feeding my child is a very high priority and the lines at the bank during lunch hours always take forever. Tonight after I screamed at them, really grown up I know, they tell me they can link my card to my visa debit. So freaking angry right now, thank God Ronin is having a nap and didn't have to hear it all, now I have to calm down before he wakes up.
Ok now I am calm (and fed and Ronin is asleep again, so much for a good night of sleep tonight) it looked really bad this afternoon, a work mate has her son at the same daycare as Ronin, guess who were the last two kids there, ours. Yeah it looks fantatstic when the Child Safety staff have the last kids at daycare.
Jackie, I second the fabric glue, easy and works. I still really want to try a moby, but if I get something else my hubby will kill me. A fabric store has all material for $3 so maybe making one would be cost effective enough now, when we priced it when I was pregnant it was going to cost us $80 for the material.
Wendy Im kinda confused as to the daycare thing? So why were those people there?
Awesome! Hopefully walmart has fabric glue. If not, guess that'll have to wait till I'm in San Antonio.
Wendy, ((hugs)). Think about this way - you're getting your money's worth by him being there.
Joy, at this age he'll let you know when he's being over stimulated. I know it's harder on the wearer to have the kid facing out, which is why you don't see older babies and children facing out. If it works for you and he's supported correctly, go for it! I wear Aiden in my ring sling facing out (he looks like a Budda ) for short spurts because he likes it. Though it does hurt my shoulder faster, so he doesn't last long that way.
