Yeah, I usually forget I even ordered anything by the time I get my stuff from there. I did get an email a couple of days ago that about half my order had shipped, and was pleasantly surprised.
I got a similar email. I was like, "Wait, I ordered that stuff like 2 weeks ago and its only just now shipped?!" Funny thing though, I'd already received one of the items ...
Amazon has some M&D stuff 50% off today only. Nothing too exciting (at least for me lol).Gold Box Deal of the Day: 50% Off Select Melissa & Doug Toys
Ooh, I love that monster bowling set. I got that for my little nephew a couple of years ago and it was a big hit with everyone on Christmas Day
I'm glad things like zuliliy and amazon aren't as promoted or available here. They did have one yesterday called click frenzy which was a twenty four hour sale @(well it would still be on today actually) but the response made the servers crash even before i could hear about it ( daylight savings so the southern states are an hour ahead)
Well really, aren't you just asking for a server crash with a name like that?
Haha they were overwhelmed with the response, they had stuff up to (ninety percent off. They have started calling it the fail of the year rather than the sale of the year

The M&D shopping cart is $37 on amazon right now. If you haven't yet there's a $5 off of $25 or more Facebook offer from Amazon making this a really great deal.
I'm having a hard time reminding myself that I'm done shopping with this one!
Ahh but there are birthdays next year that you can always buy good deals for and put away.
I started Christmas shopping for next year already. I was in a shop the other day and they had a puzzle for $1.50, it's a bit above Ronin's level now but will be perfect for next year
I figure if I get anything for next year this year it'll be long gone by next year. Hard telling we're I'd store it so I "didn't forget"
We have a big double wardrobe outside the nursery with all the baby things in it and it has a shelf across the top so it goes on that shelf. The other option is the spare room or nursery right now because neither of those are being used.
Leigh, you mention settling on "just one idea." This is an approach that I like. (I realize there will be other small items from family or that you can't resist) But one thing we tend to forget is that Christmas is a time when there is so much excitement in the air that it is wonderful to have a main gift that the little one can focus on. There are plenty of occasions to get the books and toys throughout the year. (Valentine's day etc...) So I'm for trying to keep it simple. Toys are but one aspect of the season: there is family, maybe a tree decorating event, visiting others and sharing with the less fortunate, singing, perhaps church, a special meal, outdoor fun, etc.
The doll house you show is lovely - and expensive, especially with all the little people and pets which are not included. This is what I put into the family gift category. Definitely something that grandparents or uncles might love to contribute to! With care, this is a gift that should delight and last for years, maybe even be passed on to grandchildren! But do think about it carefully. You can always purchase this for a birthday or at some other special time next year.
One thing I'd like to add though, is make sure you have a means of keeping little pieces out of the mouths of younger brothers and sisters AND pets when you make your choices.
I put small stuff on the top of my closet. I have a box up there. It's where I put Aiden's Christmas stuff as I gathered it. It now has stuff for Easter in it. And if anything else comes up where we deem a gift to be appropriate. I can't reach the shelf without a stool, so not like it was getting regular use anyway. lol
