Lucas has been super clingy the past couple of weeks. He always wants me, nothing to do with DH and if I leave the room he runs after me calling "ma ma!" when i was off on vacation last week i thought it would be helpful as he would be with me all week. It made things worse! Monday morning he clung to me and cried when I tried to drop him off at daycare. When we got home at night he started crying every time I left the room! he has been better since, but is still crying and clinging to me when I drop him off. My provider assures me he stops a couple of minutes after I leave.
I mentioned it in the chat thread, but they had a new girl start at daycare that was around 11 months and she was having huge anxiety attacks when she got dropped off. So much that she was upsetting the other kids and the animals that lived there. I thought it might be related to that, but it has been a little while now. Part of me wants to comfort and hold him when he is like this because maybe he is going through something and needs that comfort, but another part wonders if he is just going through a whiny phase. When we get home from work I try sitting with him and snuggling him but it doesn't seem to matter.
Teeth? Or just some random toddler phase b/c they like to confuse us?
How odd. I hope it's a quick phase or you can figure out why he's suddenly acting like that.
i don't think it's teeth. he seems to have them all already.
I try not to force DH on him either, but I have said like "how about daddy reads to you instead?" and he freaks out lol. If I tell DH to go and wait for him anyways, Lucas will just come looking for me.
Really, I think it just sounds like a phase. Addy goes through periods like that too, but these days it's more up and down than constant over weeks at a time...but she's also 3 months older and at this age that still makes a surprisingly large difference!
Still, we don't give in on things like trading off who puts her to bed, and she will sometimes cry and freak out but as soon as I'm out of the room and DH starts distracting her with silliness and books, she calms down and accepts it. Kinda like leaving preschool--they make a big show, but as soon as you're actually gone, it's like...oh. Okay!
Sorry you're dealing with it, though. I know how frustrating it can be! Just keep giving him as much attention and snuggles as you can and also being firm about when it's time to be with someone else (you will probably have to be out of sight, though) and he'll move along from this eventually. Hopefully soon!! (But like I said we still get it a fair amount so don't hold your breath, either...)
By the way, Adair was VERY interested in the boy with the pumpkins!
By the way, I have a pretty well validated theory that she is mean to DH because she sees him as competition for my attention and affection. We're trying to work on that idea. She LOVES him...as long as I'm not around. And she will sometimes freak out and get crazy possessive when she sees him give me affection--even put his arm around me ("NO! THAT'S MY MOMMY!")
Canada is a far away from AZ Adair. Although Lucas is pretty darn cute :)
It sounds like a phase to me too Janis. As bad as phases suck. Madison will have days like that where I can't get her off of me. I hope it goes away quickly for you. KUP.
I thought of you this morning...DH came into the kitchen where I was with Addy, and he said "Good morning, sweetie!" to her. She ran and hid her face in my legs and said "NO, Daddy. Don't see me!" but also
That's funny, Leigh.
Janice, I agree with the others. Probably just a phase. Evan still is stuck on DH when he is there. I get my moments, and they come around alot more often than they used to, so it seems to be better than it was. Let's face it, these kids are crazy and they love making us crazy.
