we have a sun/moon one. At specified times you set the moon or sun come on. It's lights up blue for moon, yellow/orange for sun and then is white the middle of the day. The moon stays out for a couple hours and the sun does too. It sort of works for us with Ethan sometimes. We should have been stricter with it though!
yeah. If you don't enforce it won't work. Don't give in - period!
YES!! I have one!!!!
It has a night light on in the night when they are sleeping and it goes off when it's wake up time. We started it with DS1 when he was about 2.5. I was going to get Tobey one for his room for Christmas but they are sharing a room now. Actually DS1 has taught him how to use it so they are silent in bed until it goes off. When Tobey is awake on his own I hear him say "gone dark" when it goes off which makes me laugh.
DS1 took about 3 days to get used to it and he's had a couple of slip ups but he's not wondering round the house at 4am any more. I also had a baby gate on the door because he was so adversed to staying in his room.
I strongly recommend one. It does take a few days of taking them back into their room and explaining the light hasn't gone out but they get the idea eventually
Our rule is that if the sun isn't up, you aren't either.
DD1 was bad about waking up early when she was about 2-3. She was hungry. We started keeping cereal bars in our room. She'd come in and we'd give her a cereal bar, which she would eat and then generally leave us alone until a more decent time. She'd still be in our bed, but she'd lay there quietly or we'd turn the tv in our room on low. When she got a bit older we started the sun rule.
I have the same problem Leigh - DH and I have to be up at 5:30 and the kids at 6am on the days they go to daycare.
We all get up at 6, every day.
