Diaper Rash Woes *Update - Post #10*

Emma has never had a diaper rash before. We switched her to Huggies Little Movers a week or two ago and she has a rash right now that bleeds and has welts! Her little but is SO RAW. She had her 9 month appt and it looked a little better that day so he prescribed some cream and told me to only feed her things we KNOW she isn't allergic to. I have been very careful with her food and dutiful with her cream and it is not going away. I'm starting to think it's the diapers. She has never had this kind before and the rash is all over her tush, close to her legs, and girly parts. I googled it and some other parents have had this happen with these diapers too. Has anyone here had this problem? I put one of her old diapers on her just now (I have some other Huggies diapers that aren't the "little movers" line) and am curious to see if there is a change. I only have 3-4 of those diapers but I would think I'd see an improvement if the diapers are the cause.

If it's not the diapers, I'm blaming the wipes next. I just feel like going and buying my good ol Pampers again; they were out the last time we were there.

My poor baby!

I've heard of babies getting rashes from those diapers.

Rowan got a really bad rash a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that it would be really bad in the morning, but would clear up during the day, and then flare up again in the evenings. It turned out that Dh (who is in charge of diaper changing in the evenings and at night) was putting rash cream on her, which was holding moisture against her skin. When I changed her diaper during the day, I wasn't putting the cream on, and it gave her skin a chance to dry out. When Dh stopped using the rash cream, it went away for good. I should add though, that the rash cream was not the initial cause of the rash, it just kept it around longer.

If you give her plenty of naked time, that should help too (though she'll probably make a mess all over your floors).

I know a lot of people who had that rash problem with the Pampers Dry Max diapers. I've only used the Huggies Snug and Dry, and with no issues at all. It sounds like the rash my mom described me having when I was a baby and allergic to milk.

I guess the problem with these things is that it takes time to narrow down the culprit. Could be diapers, wipes, food allergy. . . so many things.

Yea it's the same kind of rash my boys had when we found out they were allergic to dairy and soy but it's not that. I used the other Huggies diaper and it already is looking better. I do give her naked time so she airs/dries out and then put some of her cream on that the doctor prescribed for her and let that dry and then put the diaper on. It got better when she was at my mom's house, but she was using the diapers in Emma's backpack (which are the other Huggies diapers, not the Little Movers) so I really feel like it's the diapers. We'll see how her lil tush looks after the next diaper change.

I think certain diapers don't mesh with certain booties, because I remember Huggies doing this to my middle boy, but my oldest never had a problem. Owen is in Costco brand and he's never tried any other diapers except Pampers Swaddlers, but I bet there are some out there that would give him a rash too.

I hope it clears up soon, diaper rashes can really cause a lot of fussiness! I would complain too...

funny, Chloe is opposite. She gets rashes from regular huggies diapers. She is fine with little movers.

I'm sure you know it but I thought I would throw out. air is the BEST thing.

leave her diaper less as much as possible
do not use wipes!!!! For real, they hurt broken skin too. (I know from experience with my pregnancy hemi's) just run her butt under warm water.

it should clear up soon. Trevor was the king of diaper rash. I finally figured out it was the pampers and switched to huggies. but only after at least a year of diaper rash.

Ouch! Her rash looks the same if not a touch better. But I'm happy because it was getting worse and seemed to be getting more wide-spread with each diaper change. I've been leaving her to "air out" and making sure she is dry before the diaper goes back on. I am thinking of letting her play in my big bath tub with some toys tomorrow (no water) so if she pees, it's no big deal, and she's contained. Think that would help? Obviously I'd be right there Smile

Owwwww-y!! That sucks Sad I hope her little bum clears quickly!! Sophie's never had a diaper rash (thank goodness & fingers crossed) and we almost always use Huggies Lil Movers... We've also used Pamper w drymax and Fisher Price's new diapers and neither had given her any kind of rash. My only issue w the FP one's are they kinda stick to her back and leave like a tape mark ykwim??

Yay! Her diaper rash is continuing to improve! I really think it was the diapers Smile Now I have a large amount of Huggies Little Movers and nothing to do with them. Of course, we bought the massive box and probably used 1/4 of them. UGH! Wish there was a way to get my money back. Already polled my friends to see if any had Pampers in the same size that they were willing to trade me, but they are either in a diff size or already using the Lil Movers. Boo.

But I'm glad she is FINALLY getting better Smile Now it just looks like a semi-bad diaper rash instead of a horrible bloody reaction to something.

we've always used little movers without a problem, so maybe it was just an allergy?

either way, call KC customer service and at the very least they'll send you a coupon for free snug n drys.

(Too bad we didn't live closer I'd buy those LM off of you!)

Good mommy-sleuthing! Definitely call the company. They need to know about these things when they happen. That doesn't mean they'll necessarily do anything about it but at least they have the info.

Poor girl. I'm glad it is getting better. Sounds like those diapers are a no go for her.

Lurker.... Just putting this out there since even my pedi said it happens.... Is Emma teething? Teething can cause a rash, it does with my DD. The acidity of their spit can cause diaper rashes. I always think its food related but it always coincides with teething. Glad its getting better.

I don't think Emma is teething right now, but who knows. She isn't doing what she usually does when she teethes (haha, usually, she got two teeth at the same time so that's my only history with her and teething.) Her diaper rash is almost completely gone now, it's a faint reminder of what it was. THANK GOODNESS. It seems like it's staying a little red right at the crease where her leg meets her trunk, so this last time I changed her diaper, I didn't put cream (I know some of you advised me not to.) I wanted to see if maybe that is why that part is staying a little red, cuz the rest is like brown, almost skin color Smile but that part is staying red, which makes sense because it would be most likely to stay moist. We'll see after she naps! Poor girl, I bet she is sick of me examining her girly parts.
