Diaper Sprayers

DS is just starting out with tasting solid food. I'm fairly certain he's not ingesting enough to change his poop just yet, but I know it's coming soon! So what does everyone here use? Any that I should stay away from? (And how does one spray off a diaper without the poo flinging everywhere? I'm envisioning water splashing off the diaper and flinging tiny particles of poo everywhere.)

Oh, and completely unrelated, but does anyone have hard water and find that they needed to do something beyond the very basic washing routine because of it? I have zero issues right now, but reading online I'm seeing mention of this....so thought I'd ask!

Are you talking about CD's? I use paper (flushable) liners so that catches the poop and I just flush it down the toilet.

I put a disposable liner in, though have had some to rinse and just do it in the laundry sink. I need to get a sprayer, it's a pain to run downstairs, especially as he is pooping infrequently so they are escaping the liner.

I haven't gone out and bought one yet. She's still eating so little it doesn't matter. I should get on that...

I have extremely hard water. We were using Charlie's and we having to add all sorts of things (water softener, Oxyclean, vinegar) to get the dipes clean. It was obnoxious and it was leaving grey streaks (which still haven't come out of some things) on all our clothes. We switched to Rockin' Green Hard Rock. No streaks but now we've got stinky pee issues. I think I might have to go back to adding oxyclean. If you're using a liquid detergent, hard water shouldn't be a problem.

Good grief. Maybe I was more tired than I thought last night. I could have sworn I posted this in the CDing board. Lol

Thanks Erin! Smile

I have a diaper sprayer. I love it! I think mine is Bum Genius. I couldn't CD without it. I take the part that is going to be sprayed and put it down inside the toilet and spray it off. I don't fling poopy water around unless I'm not paying attention and spray it too hard. The squeeze trigger is easy to control and it just takes a little bit to get used to the amount of pressure you need to use to keep from spraying poo everywhere Smile

I soooo need to get one of those too. With DS1 I swished by hand (yuck) and sometimes used liners. I'm not looking foward to the poo change in the upcoming months.

We have hard water and use Charlies soap as well. So far I'm having luck using vinegar in the area soap goes in as well as in the fabric softener loader. Also I add 1-2 drops of tea tree oil and 2 drops lavendar (to mask some of the tea tree oil smell). Then I set the wash to soak and extra rinse. So far so good.
