Easter plans

So what are everyones plans for Easter. We have a 5 day weekend here because Easter is so late it coincides with ANZAC day. Hubby will probbaly work the whole time, but hopefully get some nice overtime pay. I am hoping he gets Good Friday off and maybe only have dinner service on ANZAC day as there are strict laws about when places can open. If he gets Good Friday off we might drive up to my Mum's on Thursday night and spend the day up there on Friday before coming home. I haven't heard if my Dad is coming down for a few days, but it is possible, and then my Mum will be down for a few days after Easter as well as she has taken the three days between the Easter/ANZAC long weekend and the May day long weekend off.
I went and bought Ronin's Easter gift today as well, just some cheapy Easter toys, a hopping rabbit and a chirping chicken. Depending on what time hubby works and if my Dad is here or not I may also take him to Easter Sunday service at church.

Usually on Easter we would go to my church but since all the stuff with the pastor happened we most likely will be going to another church in a different town. Then usually afterwards we go to my SIL house for dinner and we hide eggs for the kids over there.

My sister and her fam may be coming up to visit during Easter since it it also Spring break that week too. We might do some eastery festivities with them as well..

No real plans. My family is coming up this weekend as Simon is getting baptized on Sunday. Hopefully we'll make it to church that day though. And I'll hopefully make a nice dinner, and maybe have some chocolate!!!! MMMMMmmmm!

I'm lazy and copied and pasted from my other BB Wink

Nothing planned. We have a really long Easter holiday this year because of the Kate and Will's wedding but apart from spending family time together that's about it

ahhh yes the wedding. too bad we don't have a holiday here because of it;) the country has gone will and kate MAD lol. not sure if it is because it is our ties to England or if it is like that everywhere. i even saw posters you can hang up in your room of the two of them yesterday

It's the same here with Will and Kate madness, it doesn't help that one of the places they are rumoured to possibly have their honeymoon is nearby. I'm loving the extra long weekend we are getting as well (not for the wedding), 5 days off work is going to be great where the only obligation I will have is probably to march on the Monday for ANZAC day.

I'll have a 4 day weekend since I close my school for friday and monday. We do a big big egg hunt/pot luck/raffle thing on a farm with extended family. There are seriously hundreds of eggs and prizes, its crazy. Its been going on since my mom was a kid and still goes on every year now. It is some of the best memories I have from my childhood and its fun to see my kid(s) do it as well.

Strangely....There is LOADS of stuff to buy but as far as I can tell no one really seem that bothered here. They keep reporting that there have hardly been any applications for street parties like there has been for royal events in the past. I'll watch it on TV cos I want to know what Kate wears Smile Most of the coverage here ATM is about protests and things they are trying to stop. It's awful the things people are saying about them, I mean if you like the royals or not it's someone's wedding day and nothing should ever spoil a wedding day!!

anyway...that was off the point Lol

oh wow, it is the opposite here! there are even shows leading up to the wedding. i think they even made a tv movie:rolleyes: LOL. i will probably watch because it will be a major event. or i might check in on it once in awhile as i am sure the tv will be hijacked with it for awhile.

Just a normal weekend for us. We'll go to church as always. Aiden will get an Easter basket with board books and a stuffed animal. I'll probably fix a nice meal.

A day off for a royal wedding, huh? That sounds crazy to me!

I'll be going to dinner at my parents w/ the kids. My sister is out of town and my bff forgot it was Easter and signed up to work that weekend  so it's just us. It's also my dad's bday that day, so we'll have a cake and presents for him too. I want to "hide" some eggs in the yard for Lily to find b/c I think she will enjoy that. And I guess I need to go get stuff for Easter baskets. I would skip them this year, but I made a big deal about doing a basket for Lily the last 2 yrs, so I can't very well stop now. I don't think that would be fair to Luke. Hmmm, I think I need to make a trip to the dollar store tomorrow!

Wendy - what is ANZAC day?

It's a day of remeberance we have here. It commemorates the landing at Gallipoli.

Oh, cool! It sounds kind of like our Memorial Day and Veterans Day. I love long holiday weekends!!!

Unfortunately Easter is not a long weekend for us. Back to work Monday. Oh well!
