eczema

Anyone have any suggestions how to treat eczema on your babys scalp when they have hair? Lucas has it on his back, arms and shoulders but I just noticed it on his scalp the other day he has scratch marks from itching:( i had noticed him pulling and digging at his head but he wasn't doing it a lot so I didn't think much of it. For his back and shoulders I use baby aveeno and that seems to help, but I am not sure what to use on his head. He gets a bath every other night, sometimes we skip a night and we only use burts bees shampoo on his head, not his body no body wash or bubble bath or anything.

I would try a shampoo with calendula oil. Waleda makes a great one. Its pricey but lasts forever because kids are so tiny. You can also just massage calendula oil onto his scalp. He'll be a little oily on the nights you do it but it should help to clear it up.

I use tea tree (melaluca) champoo on DS. It keeps the scalp eczema away.
Loblaws sells one in their health food department for a decent price. It is in a blue bottle.

Simon has little bumps on his arms and cheeks, but they dont seem itchy. I have no clue what they are/what to do. Maybe I'll try the excema remedies.

ya he has those bumps too and on his back they are like raised dry/scaley patches. Those don't seem to bug him but his head does as I have noticed his scratching/pulling at his hair more and more. I'm going to head to Zehrs after he goes to bed and look

The brand of the shampoo is Tremenda: http://www.treemenda.com/products.html

The bumps you are describing is probably Keratosis Pilaris. I found out about it last year when I suddenly broke with these bumps ans saw a doctor about it. http://www.medicinenet.com/keratosis_pilaris/article.htm

The best thing for Lainey was switching to California Baby products. They have a calendula cream that clears her eczema up right away.

Yes, this for Ryland too (DS1). His gets so bad. This summer the sores on his scalp were all over and bleeding nasty because while he visited his grandparents they didn't get pool/ocean water and sand off his scalp fast enough and used 'other' shampoo. We use the one by California baby as well but only as often as 2x a week on average. Now as a stinky 6 year old we have to shower him daily but usually its a water rinse down and a little body soap use if really needed. I've found less is way more when it comes to using bath product on him so we have to skip it and just do a do scrub with water only.

On another random note we also just found out that DH has a nickle allergy that bothers his skin. He has had it forever but didn't know the cause. Its in belts, clothing, and personal care items. We think that DS1 might also have this and it could explain some of his 'other' breakouts. Sad I didn't even know you could have an allergy to that or that its in soooo many things.
