Probably TMI, but I have tried it (when TTC, because regular kinds can have a bit of a spermicidal effect) and it works great.

The rash is worse this morning. I'm going to make an appt with the doctor. I'd think it was eczema if it hadn't just spread all over her legs and to her arms over the course of two days. Its just weird and it bothering her.
I would. The speed at which it spread IS weird. Even if it's nothing big, if it's bothering her it's worth having it looked at.

Yeah, I really don't know if it was a fluke or not, but it's an interesting experiment anyway!

I wouldn't mind trying it while TTC either. I also wouldn't mind a tropical vag. So for the lubricant, does it specifically say that it is lubricant, or is it the same oil that you can use for other stuff? I have never noticed it in the stores.

Oh, no, you just use the regular stuff. I've never seen it separately marketed that way either (and if it was, it would probably cost three times as much as necessary ) I do recommend putting some in a separate jar if you also plan to cook with it, though.

I agree that it's a good move to get it looked at again!

If it's really already working that well, though, I think I just won parenting.

I think I'll try pushing it to 5:15 and see what happens. She definitely gets the concept, no question.
Woo hoo! Hopefully she'll do great with it moving to 5:15!

It was on Dr Oz. I know b/c my mom texted me once last month telling me that I should eat a spoonful of coconut oil every day b/c Dr Oz says it good for you.

I've read on other forums/boards that people have used regular coconut oil for that. Just your average CO found in the baking aisle. It's what I'm rubbing on my stomach. lol
There are several local CDing mamas who use it as a butt cream because they don't trust buying stuff online. (These same mamas haven't bought any diapers online either which is a very foreign concept to me. lol)

YES! OMG. Someone posted on the local CD group if she could cook and use it on her baby's bum from the same jar. All I could think was "ew no. Let's keep food and body products separate please."

So a friend on FB posted this earlier:
"I really don't understand the push to "trust birth." People, birth is inherently untrustworthy. For centuries, birth was a leading cause of death for both women and infants. Only the advent of modern medicine has made birth safer (never can it be made totally safe), but those who admonish one another to "trust birth" tend to be the ones who shun most of what modern medicine has learned about birth in the last hundred years. And I'm just at a loss as to how that makes any sense whatsoever."
Not even sure where to begin. I think we all recognize how important modern OB care is when needed, but does everyone need it? Definitely not.

Fingers crossed! If she does, I'm pushing it to 5:30 next. Then it can stay there for a while because that's when we really have to get up during the week anyway. If she does well with THAT for a couple of weeks, I may try setting it a little later on the weekend and see if she can handle that.

Or maybe I'm just delusional and she's going to wake up at 4:30am tomorrow morning and come in our room and prove me wrong. Time will tell!

Um, eating a spoonful of coconut oil? We do cook with it sometimes, and I do think it has some properties that are beneficial, but just eating it straight is NUTS. My mom is like that too--swallows pretty much anything she hears (that she likes/fits with her beliefs) without an ounce of critical inquiry. Drives me nuts.

I go back and forth on buying stuff online. Sometimes I think it's the best thing ever, and sometimes I crave having what I want immediately and being able to touch/see it before buying. If I ONLY bought my diapers locally, though, I'd be very poor indeed.

That's very frustrating, because there's just enough truth in it to make it sound reasonable, and yet it's so very, very wrong. I think this article is a pretty good one for that kind of viewpoint, though: The Most Scientific Birth Is Often the Least Technological Birth - Alice Dreger - The Atlantic
