Happy 4th!

What are you up to today? Will you be venturing out to see fireworks tonight?

We're just hanging out today. I plan to dig out our camping gear and double check we have everything we need for our road trip next week. We haven't decided if we're going to attempt to go see fireworks. We're not sure Teagan will enjoy it and they don't even start until 9:15. And its probably going to rain. Maybe next year.

This will be the first year since we met that DH and I won't be together on the 4th. It's just another day for us this year. I'll be cleaning and packing stuff all day as the kids allow. I will NOT be taking my kids out to the lake after their bedtime to see the fireworks. They are too small and it's too crowded and way more trouble than it's worth IMO. They always do a smaller fireworks display at the baseball field across the street that we can see in our back yard. If Lyla is still up I may take her out there to look at it. You can see the one at the lake from our house too, but you have to get in exactly the right spot to see around buildings and trees. I don't know if we'll do anything this weekend. Our 5 year wedding anniversary is on Saturday.

Base fireworks were last night. Aiden said "woah" and that's about it. Poor kid was exhausted by that point! We had attended DH's squadron event (late, but we made it). Aiden ran around for 3 hours like he lost his mind, but he had a blast at least following the other kids around and giving us heart attacks with his climbing. No plans for today. Just hanging around the house trying to piece together meals since I haven't made it by a grocery store and the commissary is closed today.

No fireworks for us - Rowan is too afraid of loud noises. We can usually see some from our roof, so DH and I will probably go up there after she's in bed.

It looks like I have to go into work for a couple of hours this afternoon. My new boss is crazy! Seems to think I should have my office all set up and arranged already. At least she's flexible on my hours and I can wear whatever I want.

The office? Yes, my lease just started on the 1st, but I really really want to get it set up. Right now I'm impatiently waiting for paint to dry on my filing cabinet so DH can load it into the truck and take it over there.

The fireworks are at 9:15 which is really late for Adair...I think she'd like them but she just went down for her nap an hour early so I'm not foreseeing a late night. We're going to MIL's for a casual dinner, so that'll be our excitement for the day. I've been working on the office project all morning, and DH is doing some much-needed yardwork since it's at least cloudy and not brutally hot out. Now that DD is down, though, I think I'll go buy all the stuff I need for her birthday party. Two days!

Happy early Anniversary, Anna!

Sara, your new boss sounds like a tyrant. Maybe she'd be nicer if you brought wine to work.

I'm totally taking advantage of this cloudy weather! I intended to just clean the junk out of the car but it turned into a full on car detailing. I don't think the car's been this clean since before Teagan was born. The dogs are going to have a perfectly pristine canvas upon which to spread their muck.

I'm mostly just hanging around the house and getting caught up on putting away the clutter that's been building up. I was going to take DD to fireworks tonight, but they won't start til around 10pm here and we wouldn't get home til after 11pm-since both DH and I have to work tomorrow, DD will have to wake up early in the morning for the babysitter so I realized that would be a recipe for a grumpy kid-she's already a mess on babysitter days because she refuses to nap at the sitters since she'd rather play with the other kids. I do plan to take her to a splash park this evening when she wakes up from her nap and we are supposed to go out to eat tonight since I don't want to cook.

YAY for 5 years Anna!

I just ordered pizza for dinner. Have I mentioned how exciting it is to us to have a pizza place that delivers on base? No one would deliver to us in Del Rio!

We spent the day at the county fair. When I was younger I was in 4-H, and my dad has kept our old sheep flock going even though I have been done for 12 years and my brother for 10. So now that DD1 is old enough, she does the sheep lead contest at the fair so that there is a reason for him keeping all those sheep around (plus she loves it). I have to make her a dress out of wool, and then you decorate the sheep in some way, too. It's a really cute contest. Anyway, we were at the fair for that yesterday. Then, we weren't really planning on going to any fireworks, but our friends invited us to watch a town's display from their grandparent's deck, which was going to be a really nice option because I could have taken Lainey inside to watch them so she wouldn't get all the noise. But we didn't get to see any fireworks, since it started thundering and lightning about 15 minutes before they were supposed to start. We did get a fabulous lights and sound display by mother nature on the drive home, though!
