HELP Chloe is constipated!

Trevor had this same thing going on about the same age too. Like a solid ball of poop in his butt and he couldn't get it out. Chloe had two small pebbles come out and both looked just like dirt they were so dry! Poor baby is crying in pain and shivering! :( I guess I need to take her to the dr if this keeps up? I tired helping her out a little bit with a wet wipe but she did not like that and I was not going to do anything that may hurt her. I don't know what else to do. At least Trevors was right there and I kinda broke it up a little with a wipe so he could pass it. He never had another issue so I left it alone and never took him to see the dr. Chloe's isn't like that. Hopefully it is all over with.. otherwise you would not know any different she is perfectly happy.. :( Just when she poops it hurts her.

Poor thing. I know in the past, if we thought Evan was having trouble, we would give him prune juice. I didn't dilute it at all. I was afraid he would not like the taste, but he drank a sippy full and another partial before he acted like he didn't like it.

Oh, poor girl! As it happens, the lady who wrote my potty training book just posted on Facebook that Coconut Manna (coconut butter) is both delicious and an excellent gentle natural laxative. Will she eat fruit? That helps too...trust me. We have the opposite problem :/

Things like grapes, plums, pears, etc. are best. Bananas have the opposite effect, though.

I'd break out the prune juice and look at her diet to help keep this from being an issue again. :( Poor thing!

Prune juice and/or fruit should help. If it's an immediate issue and she is really hurting, I would go ahead and take her in to get that resolved and go from there. I hope it passes soon.

If you think it's right there in the rectum in a big solid ball, nothing orally is going to help anytime soon. You could try glycerin suppositories. I'm sure any pharmacy would have them. THey are just lubrication. At the hospital, we sometimes have to manually break solid stuff up with our fingers, but Im talkikng about adult bums. LOL! Alot bigger. I dont know if I would recommend that for a 2 year old.

Ronin seemed a bit stopped up a couple of weeks back so I got some medication (he already eats lots of fruit and enjoys prunes as a snack) but the chemist said if that didn't work to go back for suppositories so perhaps thats an option, going to the chemist and seeing what they recommend.

They also make Fiber vitamins that we have used with DS. Typically pears work for my kids.

Make sure she is getting enough water. Too much fiber and not enough water will cause constipation.
Flax seeds are a good natural laxative.

Thanks everyone! I went and got some prune juice and prune baby food. She liked them both.. she got a lot of poop out about a hour afterward. Poor thing. I think she has been drinking too much milk.. she has always had issues with it but never that bad. She is pretty much 100% better today thankfully.
