How long has Oct/Nov '10 BF'd?

Happy World Breastfeeding Week, ladies!! In addition to participating in the PG.org-wide BFing tally, I'm hoping you will all join in to calculate how long our board has collectively BF'd! We've all done SUCH an awesome job over the past (nearly) 2 years. So, EVERYONE who has even latched a baby to her breast should participate!

Here's how it works, I'll put up my number in months and then the next person puts hers and adds in mine.

Ex: Running total is 100 months

I BF'd DS for 12 months & DD for 13 months. 12+13+100= 125 months!

When the week comes to an end, I'll do the math and figure out how many YEARS we've BF'd! I'm putting in a guess that we've got over 30 years of BFing experience just on this board!!

Well DS is almost 22 months, so I'll just make it 22. I keep thinking he's going to stop, but nope!

I BF'd Lyla for 10.5 months and so far I've BF'd Kole for 3.5 (almost 4) months. I'll round it to and even 14 months. So that makes the total:

91 months.

+6 months for Ryland
+21 months for Odin whose still nursing
+3.5 months for Archer (I'm counting that separate even if it's tandum)

184 months (I'm rounding up)

The fact that there is even 6 or more of us still nursing toddlers, even through pregnancy/new baby/working, is amazing!

do you all count pumping? If so 4 months with DS and 20 months with DD for 24 months = 238

If not, then 20 months with DD = 234

oh and I'm rounding up to 20 months because that's in 4 days! Smile

Uplifting article, Leigh! I'm still shocked that only 6% of births occurred in baby-friendly hospitals. Right there is the reason for such low BFing numbers.

Guess who completely refused to nurse during the Latch On? Yeah, my boob crazy toddler. Once it was over and the nursing babies were counted, she asked for boobs. Argh. I missed work and she missed school so that we could sit in a room across town. I did see a friend though so there was that.

If I hadn't been determined, hadn't all the Oct mommies already posting about BFing, and hadn't brought my own BFing book with me, there's no way I would have left the hospital still confident in BFing with Aiden. *sigh* I'm glad the rates are increasing!

And Erin like I said on FB, Aiden made up for her. They switched places this morning apparently. Lol

I wanted to make a breastfeeding siggie but all my pictures of Simon bfing end up obscene!! LOL! He moves around and grabs the camera too much so they end up being nipple shots and such! Lol

Thanks, Aiden, for making up for Teagan today!! My friend tandem nursed her nearly 3yo & 7mo this morning. Her 3yo didn't latch last year. I was disappointed but I figure there's always next year Wink

Mona, a tactfully placed flower might make for a really sweet siggy pic Smile

I figured my picture wouldn't elicit as many stares and raised eyebrows on FB if it wasn't in color. Though my husband did get a text message from a single guy friend of ours from Del Rio - "dude, did you know your wife posted a picture of her boobs on FB?" My husband apparently told him to enjoy the view. Lol
Maybe you can blur or swirl the area of concern? Or find a really nice tactful picture of a lady in a skimpy bikini to stamp on top. Wink

Oh my goodness, Mel, I never read comments on any article on the internet. It is the quickest way for me to feel depressed and resentful about the tragic state of humanity.

I agree a cute little flower or heart could work. Maybe for the future Wink
