How much solid food is baby eating now?

Hi ladies

This is sort of a spin off thread, but I was wondering how much everyone's LOs are eating now. Simon had a bit of a slow down with being sick, but here is what his day normally is.

Breakfast consists of either cereal and/or fruit, maybe about 4 oz worth.
Lunch is about 2 oz of veggies (like sweet potato, etc.)
Afternoon snack, 1-2 mummums.
Dinner about 4 oz of pureed meat/veggies, maybe 5 puffs, a mouthful or 2 of what we are eating if appropriate, and maybe 1-2 oz of juice or water.

It doesnt sound like much to me, but he's still gaining tons so I guess it's doing the trick.

I usually breastfeed right before meals as well (as well as other times, I probably breast feed about 6-8 times in a 24 hour period).

How is your LO doing?

That seems like a lot to me. Teagan does well with solids but consumes very little still. Here's what she eats. I'd say about 1/3 of it ends up on her face/floor.

Breakfast-
Maybe an ounce or two of yogurt or applesauce
Some puffs
Slice of fruit/piece of waffle/pancake

Lunch
2-4 oz of whatever I send with her to daycare, usually 1 fruit and 1 veggie

Dinner
If she's still awake, she gets bites off my plate. She eats probably the equivalent of 1-2 oz.

We BF on demand (maybe 6-8 times per day) and she gets two 3-oz bottles at daycare.

holy crap that is a lot. i stopped giving him food for a week or so when he was sick as well because he was all congested and not interested so we are picking it up again. He usually eats solids only once a day though at lunchtime. i have been too lazy to give him more but i want to start getting him on breakfast. so for lunch i usually give him a mum mum and some kind of fruit or vegtable. he eats quite a bit of it. the whole cookie, and like 5 or 6 ice cubes (small) of fruit/vegtables maybe 3 or 4 ounces? most of the time he will eat the whole thing. He also gets about 4-5 6 oz bottles a day.

Lainey eats 1-2 ounces of fruit or veggies at dinner. I would probably give her some at lunch, too, but the only things she will willingly eat is blueberries or carrots. She BF's probably 8-10 times a day (including nights) as well.

As they get older their weight gain will slow down considerably, so don't worry if he doesn't gain as fast as he did at they start - they can't, or they would be 50 lb 2 year olds! lol
For perspective, my 8 month old weighs 17.5 lbs, and my 4 year old weighs 35, or exactly twice what the baby weighs. So the weight gain goes slower and slower the older they get.

I might be the odd one because Natalie still mostly breastfeeds. She might eat one 2 oz jar of baby food a day.. I try to push the whole jar on her at one time but most of the time she wont eat it all. She straight up refuses and wont open her mouth so it one jar usually lasts 2 days.. I feel like she should be eating more but Im not too worried since she still breastfeeds a ton..

That's a lot more than Aiden! He doesn't get breakfast still. I'm not a morning person. Eventually I'm going to have to get over this I guess. Lunch and dinner is whatever I feel like giving him. Today between lunch and dinner he consumed (I did give him more than this) 1.5 grapes, 1/2 strawberry, 1/4 a homemade banana bread mini muffin, 1 slice of tomato, 1 spinach leaf, and kernel of corn he stole from me.

Oh, and 2 pebbles of dry cat food. The cat food totally got moved today much to the cat's displeasure.

ETA: Aiden signs to BF like 5-6 times during the day. He eats twice in the middle of the night. They're all real feeds too of 5-10 minutes! Smile

Wow, I guess Simon is eating alot!!! It just doesnt seem like it. The LC I saw gave me a resource about starting solids and what it says for a baby our LOs age, it seems like Simon isnt eating much solids. Here, let me find it for you ladies and you can look if you want at the sample "menu".

http://chd.region.waterloo.on.ca/en/childFamilyHealth/resources/TB_Picnic07.pdf

This is for the region I live in, but I would assume it should be fairly similar regardless of where you are.

I may just cut back on his solids then and do more of a blw thing (I spoon feed him mostly and I think he takes in way more this way that maybe he doesnt need).

The resource you gave us is in tablespoons and mLs. If I convert the food portion to oz I get for the 8-9 month column:

Breakfast: 1.5-2.5 oz cereal + 0.5-1 oz fruit (2-3.5 oz total)

Lunch: 1.5-3 oz vegetable + 1-2.5 oz meat + 1-2 oz fruit (3.5-7.5 oz total)

Dinner: 1.5-2.5 oz cereal + 1-2.5 oz vegetable + 1-2.5 oz fruit (3.5-7.5 oz total)

Simon's falling right in there. He eats a big breakfast but a smaller lunch. Teagan does the opposite. Her big meal is lunch.

Aiden is no where near eating that many ozs in a day! He is improving in his eating skills each week and having fun with it, so not going to worry about it. I'm sure I'll panic after he's 1. Lol

Nate has a larger meal at breakfast we rotate oatmeal toast or baby pancake with a fruit on the side. Lunch he will get an ounce or two of veggie. He also nurses on demand.

Sophie doesn't get breakfast yet. She only breastfeeds. She'll have lunch and dinner, but it's hit or miss as to whether or not she's sleeping. She's really getting a lot our of table foods, but not a lot as in quantity, just that she doesn't seem to care for my puree's any longer...

Those charts they give you at the doctor always seem like way too much food for a LO to get through in 1 day.

Odin just started solids this month and has really just started taking off this week eating more. We do 3 meals of solids a day and lots of nursing still, roughly 8-10 times a day though it has started spacing a little more.

Breakfast--about 1-2 tbsp of fruit
Lunch--about 1 tbsp fruit/veggie mix
Dinner--about 1 tbsp veggies

I don't know how that works out in oz.? I'm guessing though that if it was a jar of food he might only eat 1 jar in a day or 3 ice cube tray poritons.

Weekdays Ronin has breakfast at daycare when the other kids have morning tea because he was having a tantrum because they were eating and he wasn't. He has cereal with some fruit, weekends he has the same, but I never measure how much, but it's not a huge amount, maybe 2 tablespoons at most.
Lunch is varied but mostly veggies and I give him 4 or 5 cubes which comes to about 2/2.5oz. I have been sending some cut up fruit or some yoghurt for him to have with lunch or at afternoon tea (again tantrums some days when others are eating and not him) and I always keep a rusk or two in his bag just in case for him to chew on while he is teething, but they really don't eat them.
Dinner is a bit of whatever we are having or some veggies most of which he shares with the cats or gets on the floor because I usually give chunks at dinner. There has also been the odd bight where his dinner has consisted of a piece of cheese.

DS gets two meals of solids a day, about 5 oz around lunch and I just upped his dinner portion to 6 oz. He gets bottles the rest of the day, either 4 or 6 oz at a time. I have started cutting up fruits and putting them in his mesh feeder. He really seems to like that. I also got him some puffs and yogurt drops, I just break them into smaller pieces to give to him.

Eleanor eats one small jar (2.5 oz) of veggie, one small jar of fruit, and some oatmeal for dinner. She just stared getting a little cereal and fruit at lunch two days ago. Maybe on small jar? (I can't remember. Daycare writes it down for me.)

Otherwise she nurses 5-6 times a day, as she has been for a few months now. The solids haven't replaced the milk amount yet, and I'm being careful to see that they don't - for now.

To me that doesn't sound like a lot. Tobey eats LOADS. He's done what his brother did and will only BF as a snack as he knows better stuff is coming. If I was to BF on demand I think he would be down to morning and night now but I still feed him after his naps in the day but he's only there for 5mins tops.

Anyway....about 4oz porridge or cereal for breakfast
What ever I'm having for lunch (toast/sandwich/breadsticks etc)
and a 4oz jar of stage 2 food for dinner and some fruit for pud

he would totally eat more if I let him. By now DS1 was no longer having milk in the day as I could not get him to have ANY so he was on fruit snacks morning and afternoon with similar food as Tobey the rest of the time.

Lucas eats about 1 -2 Tbsp of cereal (mixed w/ a little formula) and a 4oz jar of fruit after his morning nap. Then he gets a 4oz jar of veggies and a pack of Mum Mums either early afternoon if he is at the sitter's, or late afternoon if he is home with me. He also takes 4 4-6oz bottles of formula, to which I have started adding a little rice cereal b/c for some reason he all of a sudden at about 6 months started spitting up like crazy. He never had a problem with it before, so I'm not sure why now? But luckily adding cereal has really helped keep him from spitting up so much.

Usually has a 5-6 oz bottle before going to daycare.

Breakfast: Oatmeal cereal and a full stage 2 tub of either a fruit or veggie.

Mid-Morning 6oz bottle

Lunch: Two stage 2 tubs of a fruit & veggie

Bottle anywhere from 4-6 oz

Mesh feeder with a fruit in it while we eat dinner.

Dinner: two stage 2 tubs of a fruit and veggie
