Humans can be so cruel.

I was driving down the street to go deposit my paycheck. It was busy, because it was lunch time, and there were cars everywhere. All of a sudden I saw a white blur fly to the right, bounce on the asphalt, and roll, hitting the curb. I thought someone threw a bag of trash out, until I saw a little head lift...

Turns out, it was a puppy. No one hit the brakes. No one even cared. But I did. I pulled over and checked her out, and found her to be shocked, but in otherwise good condition. I took her back to work with me (I work for my dad, who is a veterinarian) and had my dad check her out. She was covered with fleas and scabs (probably from the fleas) but was/is in great condition aside from that. My dad is guessing she is a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mixed with who knows what else. She is 6-8 weeks old (probably closer to 8 weeks). She is ADORABLE. I already love her. I left her at work for the night (I know, I'm cruel too) because of all the fleas. I applied Frontline so she should be fine to bring home in the morning. I didn't want to create an infestation here; my Sophie and Luna would definitely not appreciate that! I cleaned her off and brushed her out real good, and she looks awesome now.

I asked my husband and he said we could keep her Smile So now we have a new addition.

Meet Rolie Polie (no, that's not her name, that's just what I am calling her for now. Suggestions?)

Yes, out of the window of a moving car going approximately 35mph. I can't BELIEVE she has no injuries at all.

That's awful! :brucelee:

She is adorable! Good luck deciding on a name. I'm not much help b/c I've never gotten to name a pet before. They've all came w/ names or my mom named it (which she really shouldn't be allowed to after naming a cat Liquor).

Ugh, i effing HATE PEOPLE!!!! I try not to let myself "feel" these types of stories because I get so upset and angry about it, but I am really glad you stopped and saved her:) Did you happen to get the license plate? I would have reported them!!!

Cute puppy!! Its just awful what some people do!!! You should look into reporting this somehow. Maybe someone will realize a friend is missing a puppy and report them or something. I hate people sometimes. ERG!

I wish I would have, but, it was *really* busy AND it wasn't the person directly in front of me, so I would have had to follow them. Even then, I didn't know which car did it, just that it was one of the ones in front of me. I didn't want to leave her and have her run into the road, or just die on the side of the road, since I didn't know her condition. I figured her situation would be grim, but since my dad would be able to see her at no cost (obviously), I wanted to give her whatever chance she had. Turns out, she was/is in excellent condition, considering, so it was a total win for both her and for me.

I thought about putting an ad on craigslist, without including a picture, but with the serious amount of fleas and scabs on her (I mean SERIOUS amount...if she continued with those fleas on her, breeding and feeding, she would likely die) I can't help but feel like she wasn't being taken care of wherever she was...I don't really want to find her owner.

Is that bad of me?

OMGosh, is she cute or what!!!!!!!???!!!!!!
Love love love her:0)
She is very lucky to have been found by you!! What are the chances?!
People are A HOLES! I was walking to my house and a car threw out a kitten out of their moving vehicle! He rolled and then ran up the drive way (itty bitty)...
Ended up braking his jaw and lots of road rash...We got him to the vet ASAP. I was so pissed. Why the heck do people think that this kind of stuff is OK?!!?!
AND who is evil enough to toss a puppy that is that darn cute out the WINDOW?! This is why I am homeschooling! There are some CRAZIES out there!
Again, thank you for saving her!! Good idea leaving her there...a flea infestation would not be cool.
The vet clinics I worked at in the past...you'd be amazed at what kind of abuse we would see!!! I gal brought in a puppy to euthanize it...because he chewed her shoes. I had another puppy! People SUCK. SUCK. SUCK!!

I have worked for my dad for...EVER. I can count the abuse cases on one hand, really, with maybe two fingers. We just don't see them. Maybe because we aren't a low-cost veterinarian, we are right in the middle (price-wise). I don't know. I'm not ignorant to what people are capable of, I just...I have never WITNESSED it, ya know? It really bothered me. Also, no one even put the brakes on. They may as well have thrown her into the street themselves, as far as I'm concerned. How do you see that and just drive on by? There is no way that they completely missed it...

I mean find the owners so they can be charged, and NOT have the puppy back of course!

How cruel that someone would do that. I HATE people who feel the need to harm, hurt or torment the defenseless. There is no worse crime in my mind than hurting something or someone that can't defend him/herself.

That God there are people like you on this earth to combat some of the evil in this world. That is an extremely cute dog and I hope she makes a wonderful addition to your family.

Here are my suggestions:
Liberty
Sadie
Daphnie
Panda

Awwww!!!!! How cute!!!! I'm so glad you found her. I can't believe some of the stuff that goes on, I really just can't. We get dogs dumped by us all the time. It's so sad to see. The cats usually don't have too much trouble finding a barn to call home and someone to feed them but the poor dogs usually end up getting hit before someone figures out they are strays. Thankfully, I've never seen (myself) an actual puppy dumped out here or we'd probably have kept it Smile I've heard of several but they were re--homed.

She is so cute. We had someone throw a cat out of a car window near here this week, it was front page news.

Such a cute little dog. That is great that you are adding her to your family. I don't blame you either for leaving her over night. You are trying to get her better, and your family doesn't need all those fleas at home.

Excited to pick her up today! I think we have a name for her, though we will have to see if it fits her personality.

"Layla"

It's perfect because I told dh if he let me keep her, I'd "owe" him :lovebed: so Layla is the perfect name. Every time I hear the name, I think of the Eric Clapton song...

"...Layla, got me on my knees, Layla..."

My husband loves it, I love it, and we NEVER love the same names (for pets).

ooo, I LOVE the name! My BFF's sister has an Aussie named Layla, I've loved it as a poochie name ever since she named hers that.

Awww, she is too cute!

That is so sad about her getting thrown out of the car. Exactly how I got my first cat when I was 5. They drove right past the house and threw a kitten out of the car. He had also been tortured pretty bad but was able to heal. He was the best cat ever for the next 14 years. I don't even know how someone could just throw an animal out of a moving car without blinking.
