I think we may have a name!!! EEEP!

I'm so thrilled! I think we may actually have a name picked out! I was already worried DH was going to be a 'jerk' about it. I think it was easier because I was being less stubborn this time. I got primary say with Lyla's name and DH had the veto power (which he nearly wore out!). This time he got primary say and I have veto power, so basically DH picked the name and I agreed to it. I will say that I did use my veto power on some names he threw out there.

Now this is still somewhat priliminary as DH is reserving the right to change his mind, but he really likes this name A LOT and I like it too. So without further delay the name (so far) is:

Kole Ezra O.

I wasn't too crazy about the Ezra at first, but DH really likes it and since it's a middle name I'm not going to fight him on it.

And I know it goes without saying, but please no FB comments about the sex or name. We are telling DH's parents the sex this Saturday and telling my family at Turkey day next week. We haven't decided if we are going to reveal the name yet.

Yup! Totally going to make a blue cake for Saturday. Dh even suggested that I shape it like a penis. LOL I think I'll just stick to the blue inside. I like the idea that the cake will be sitting there waiting to reveal the news while they all have to wait through lunch! They will be so tortured!!

OMG....how cute to have the cake on the inside blue. You are so smart. BTW - I say don't reveal the name....if you do then you'll be pressed to not chnage your mind and what if you fall out of love with it? Just my opinion.....I'm wayyyyyyyyy secretive in naming my babies...not even my older kids knew when we had the last 2. lol

BTW - I like Ezra Smile

Here are our options when it comes to revealing the name:

A.) We don't reveal the name and spend the rest of the pregnancy persistently getting phone calls and text messages with name suggestions and every occasion where we see SIL will be filled with have names thrown at us non-stop.

B.) We reveal the name and spend the rest of the pregnancy persistently hearing other suggestions about what we SHOULD name our son.

Either way I told DH he's responsible for FIRMLY telling his sister that we have no interest in hearing ANY name suggestions as we will name our own children.

I like it!

Option C. Make up a name to reveal. That way, no one can poop on your real name and they can't bug you about not telling them. When you come out with his real name just say you changed your mind.

I really like that name! The blue cake is a really fun idea! Good luck deciding on if/when to reveal the name to your family

I vote for C, but your made up name should be something really crazy! Mess with them! Cleatus has a nice ring to it...

We actually did this with Lyla. After we decided on Lyla, we told his family we were naming her Agatha. This is actually a name that is common in my family. I have 3 or 4 cousins with this name. And I had a sister who died at 2 days old that was named Agatha. So it was conceivable that we might actually do that.

It didn't help. They were so angry about the name we chose that MIL actually forbid us to name her that! And then after we told them the real name, they didn't even blink before continuing with their onslaught of name suggestions!!

I think what we need to do is decide whether to tell them the name or not and then have DH tell them in no uncertain terms that all discussion on the name is closed and that we will hear no suggestions or comments on the matter.

Part of me wants to tell them that we have a name but we won't be telling them because we don't want them to crap on it. Nothing like a good dose of honesty!

Anna, I say dont tell them. My family totured me for the rest of my pregnancy about our name choice.. It would seriously piss me off.. Then we changed it at the very end, not because of them just because we like Natalie better.

Love that name!! I like the idea of the family being tortured through lunch until they can cut the cake. Good luck in whatever you decide revealing Kole's name. Why can't families understand that their opinion doesn't matter in the name choices?

With Delaney I just threw out some names that I had no real interest in using....it let people talk and critique and didn't hurt my feelings. Also, once we had Delaney (and Miranda too) I never heard one peep from ANYONE that they didnt' like our choices....if they did I would have told them to stick it. LOL

Have fun sharing the news! I think Ezra is really cool.

We didn't like to share our names ideas. We never were 100% anyway, but I just didn't want to deal with people's opinions on it. I just would be very vague and say we had a few ideas, but wouldn't know until we saw her.

Well, they just aren't any fun, are they?!? lol

With Alaina, we just always tossed out the names we liked but we knew we weren't using, telling people we hadn't decided yet (which was true, we didn't decide on a girl name until 2 days before she was born). We learned with DD1 - we shared "the" name and for some reason if the baby's not here yet they think they can comment on the name or try to steer you toward other names.

Option D: Tell them if they want to know anything about the baby's name or have any comments regarding baby names, they must go through me. Biggrin They won't like me.

Oh yeah, BTW, love the name Kole!
