I'm a dork (OT)

I think I have posted about this before. We are getting a kitten. I've wanted to get a kitten for MONTHS now, but since we see adding a pet to our family as a really big step, we wanted to be sure it was the right time, and the right kitten. I think we finally found him/her! I am extremely specific with what I want; that is probably a huge part of the reason that we are currently kitten-less. But tonight, I ran across someone who has just exactly what I have been looking for! I am so excited! We can't even go see him/her until Thursday night because of the current owner, my, and my husband's work schedules, but I'm already excited. It's actually better this way because it gives me time to get kitten supplies.

I know I'm probably partially crazy to get a kitten when I already have three kids and a dog, but I love cats and miss having one! I've almost always had a cat in my life in some way, and for the past while, I haven't. I miss it. Actually, the reason my desires are so excruciatingly specific are because I want a mirror image of my last cat. I don't want to even relive it but, his departure from our family was not anything that it should have ever been and I miss him terribly.

Anyway, I'm excited and wanted to share! I've been sick for so long that it's nice to have a little ray of sunshine Smile Not that my lil princess isn't a beam of light every single day!

Have I mentioned that she can get to the standing position all by herself, from the floor? Yea...that just started happening about a week or so ago. I'm just waiting for her to walk.

I bought a puppy when Clara was 8 months old, so if you're a dork, I'm a dork Wink

I wanna see some pictures of the kitty when you can get them!!!

Let's just ignore the "our kids are almost walking" thing, it makes me sick to think they are old enough to do stuff like that!

It's funny because my dad is a veterinarian and I've worked for him, off and on, for my entire life (and I do mean entire because my mom worked there while she was pregnant and they used to have me chill in my carseat in surgery with him, ha!) so I know all the medical aspects of having a kitten. I know what vx to get, flea and heartworm products to buy, know to deworm, spay/neuter, introduce to my kids and dog slowly, etc. BUT that being said, I haven't had a kitten in *forever*. At least, it feels that way. It's been years and years. So part of me is like, wait, what do I do? LOL

I'm so jealous. I wish DH would let me get a kitten. We have barn cats but that's just not the same, they are pretty wild and he does not want them tamed as then they become leg cats. I tried and tried to get him to let me have a house cat. I had one when DD1 was just a baby and I loved having the cat inside, she was awesome! I was taking night classes at the time and she always knew just when I needed a break and would come in and jump right in the middle of my books and distract me Smile

Awww definitely post pics when you get them!!!!

I love cats. This past April we had to say goodbye to my kitty. He was 18 and I had had him since he was a kitten. Me and DH were both extremely attached to him and it was one of the hardest things I had to do putting him to sleep (he had throat cancer).

Now I would LOVE to have another cat. I miss having a little furry love ball around. And Simon I'm sure would love it. But DH still isnt ready. He claims to like no cats except Rookie (the kitty we lost). I'm hoping to convince him soon. I know no cat can replace Rookie, but it would be good for us and for Simon.

Sorry for threadjacking. I just love kitties!! So post post pics!!! Smile
