Well hey, yay for at least one good naptime!!!
I can't believe Kole is cruising already! Weren't you just pregnant??????????
LOL about the "whatever" boxes. When we moved out here from New York, we had at least two big ones that I don't even think we taped shut--they were just where we tossed everything that hadn't been packed up yet on moving day. Which was a lot.
Most of my tips are more like what to do with the TMO (the military office we work with for moving). TMO makes things more difficult each move. :p We've always had to keep things in two separate places. Things the military is moving and things we're moving. Since you never know when you might see your stuff that the military moves, it's a bit nerve wrecking making sure you have enough on you but not too much....and that you didn't forget things like a can opener or your hair brush. Or even more important the wine opener. We always end up having boxes marked "paperwork and paper plates" or "bed sheets, tissues, and hand pump." The best part is unpacking what the military moves. A box marked "kitchen" is usually guaranteed to include stuff from the storage room or garage. :p So maybe you can take from this that it doesn't matter what you throw in a box as long as nothing breaks. Ha ha.
That sounds extra fun, Jackie! Although it does make me think that a good packing strategy might be to pay more attention to "Important" vs. "Can be unearthed at some random later date" than to categorizing strictly by room or type. If you can pull out those first few important boxes and have your hands on the wine opener, bedsheets, and pajamas with no fuss, the rest of the unpacking should go much more smoothly :D
YTeah we still have can be unearthed at some random later date boxes. Some have a wardrobe organiser we bought for the wardrobes we had at the time, some clothes which I never bothered digging out because i was 3 months pp at the time and most didn't fit well. I also have lots of uni resources I made and collected in the hopes one day I will teach
The packing of things made me think of a joke my parents friend's did to them while on their honeymoon. They unlabeled every can in the cabinets. Can you imagine? And my Mom is one of those that has a lifetime supply of corn stocked up too.
Killing time while eating lunch!
Packing tips ... I pack my breakables in off-season clothes.
I'm starting to panic about my exam. Just a bit.
We moved a lot when I was growing up. In fact, this is the longest I've ever lived in one house and we've been here 5 years. Growing up this was always the way we moved. I hated it and want to be more organized about it.
Yup, I've done exactly that! I'm also keeping some pillows and sheets out so that we can use those on moving day to pad things like the TV or other things that need some padding.
Don't panic, you got this sh*t! Make it your mantra "I got this sh*t!" Repeat until all panic ceases.
