Just curious. Who's napping? Who's not? One or two naps? How long? Is it a battle, easy, or depends on the day?
Aiden is taking 2 naps currently. Sadly, neither nap lasts longer than an hour. Before we left for our family road trip, Aiden was easy most days to put down for a nap. We're trying to get back to that but it probably won't happen since in little over a week DS and I leave to visit family. Half the time Aiden goes right to sleep without a fuss with me putting him down awake, the other half of the time it takes multiple trips to get him to sleep!
Evan usually has one long nap, anywhere from 1.5-2.5 hours. Sometimes, he may take a late afternoon nap, but then it's later to bed on those days. Unless we are in the car in the afternoon, it's just the one. He goes down pretty easy for those naps.
we go by his mood. Most days he has one 2-3 hour nap. When he has 2 naps they are 1.5-2 hours each
Lyla is transitioning to one nap, I think. Some day's she will take 2, but she's had a few lately where she will only take one nap. Since she was about 6 months old it's been extremely rare for her to take a nap that lasts more than an hour. If I get an hour out of her, I call it a good nap.
Some days she will go right to sleep when I put her down, others she will fuss and sometimes even happily play for in there for up to 20 minutes before falling asleep.
An issue that I feel like needs to change is the routine. She requires it to be cool and dark for her to nap, so there is no napping anywhere but home. And we got into this routine of nursing to sleep while rocking in the glider when she was teeny tiny and it has continued. Now she requires that routine (except now with her bottle) in order to go to sleep. I put her down awake, but first she has to finish her bottle while I rock her.
Anna, we do a routine of rocking and reading. Aiden sits in my lap facing out. That change of position really helped him to stop wanting the boob to go to sleep. Took a bit to get him to accept that right away, but we got there fairly easily.
Aiden used to be such a good napper taking 2 two hour naps! Then he started sleeping mostly though the night and that stopped.
Teagan takes one nap that's about 2 hours long. She goes down easy most days. She gets a little tired around 10 and sometimes falls alseep in the car on the way to daycare. A nap that early is not good for anyone so I usually wake her up when we get to daycare. Weekends are interesting. She only took 1 one hour nap this afternoon and then slept for about an hour while we were out this evening. Its now 9:15 and she's still up.
Sometimes Rowan refuses to take any naps at all, preferring to walk around and scream.
When I'm lucky, she'll nap for up to two hours around mid-day. When I'm unlucky, she'll nap for less than 45 minutes.
Odin has been down to one nap since 6 months old. Usually 2-3 hours mid-day while my preschool kids nap. Last week he was crazy and only slept like 30-40 min. all day but I'm thinking it was the 'verge of walking no sleeping thing'. Today he slept for 3.5 hours during his normal time. He is exhausted by noon and NEEDS that nap.
Still nurses to sleep for nap as well.
usually one nap around 2 hours. But he's ill ATM so he's back on 2 naps. And he's always happy to go to sleep
Lainey is trying to transition from two naps to one. But one nap isn't quite enough for her, and two naps seem to be too much, since a lot of times she wants to fall asleep for 2nd nap around 4-5 pm, and I won't let her. If she takes two naps per day, each will last about 1-2 hours. If she takes just one, it lasts anywhere from 2-3 hours, usually 2.
Lucas still takes 2 naps, usually btw 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hrs for each nap. Sometimes my sitter tells me that he didn't nap very well for one of his naps, but for the most part he seems to still really need them both. He usually takes his morning nap at 10 (except yesterday I tried and tried to keep him up until then and he was NOT having it, so he went down at 9:30 since he doesn't apparently understand DST ) and his afternoon nap at 2:30 or 3. He is still really easy to put down for naps and bedtime and goes down w/o a fuss, but he will ONLY sleep in his crib or PNP, maybe the carseat if he is super tired. If we are out and about there is no getting him to nap.
2 naps a day...usually 1.5-2.5 hrs. One around 10am and the other around 3pm. She is a good napper. I just look for her clues that she is tired...rubbing eyes, yawning, crankiness....I just wrap her in her blankie and put her in her crib. She likes her sleep, for sure. (she takes after DH)
I kind of made the transition for him from two to one nap. With two naps he wasnt wanting to go to sleep for the night till like 11. Now he takes one nap about 1.5 hours and will go to bed about 8. Works much better for us. Also still bf to sleep.
Clara's sort of stuck in the middle right now. She tried to go down to one nap but has recently been back to 2 naps. There's a cold bug going around our house and I think she's fighting that which could explain the extra sleeping.
On no preschool days she takes one nap in the afternoon for about 2 hours. On the days when we have to pick up DS from preschool, she'll sleep for about half an hour in the car around 11am and then take a 1.5 hour afternoon nap. On weekends when she's so busy playing with daddy she takes two naps but weekdays I try to get it down to just one nap, unless of course she shows signs she needs it.
She's very easy to put down. She's recently decided she doesn't want us to rock her to sleep *snif snif*. She wants her blankie and her paci and put her in her crib or she will claw your face till you do.
Landon is doing just one nap a day. He was never a good napper - when doing two naps, they were only 30-45 minutes each. When he switched daycares he needed to be down to one nap a day. He still struggles a bit mid-morning and if we're in the car at that time, there's no question, he'll be out. Generally on one nap he'll sleep 1.5-2 hours.
We are on the go so much lately (which is a whole separate thread) that our schedule is sort of messed up, but he still likes to take 2 naps. One around 9:30 and the other around 3:00. Each nap is about 1 hour, maybe more.
Sophie doesn't like to nap w me... but when it comes to DF or daycare, it's a total different story! LOL She naps once most of the time for about an hour to an hour and a half. Some days I get lucky and she'll stay down for two. DF normally gets a good three hour nap in the morning and a an hour in the afternoon... and that seems to be the same w daycare... I try to tell DF its cause he's boring and she'd rather sleep when he's around - LOL - but I think he might wear her out better than I do...
