Mommy Adventures

So, this morning as I'm nursing the little fatty, Lyla walks up to me saying 'yucky' and holding out her poop covered hand to me. Which she had stuck down the back of her pants. Luckily, Kole remained content while I cleaned her up.

Then while Kole napped I went outside and gave the dogs another bath to try to get some more skunk smell off of them. Then Lyla told me she was sleepy and I put her down for a nap. As I left her room Kole started stirring and woke up. As soon as he fell back asleep, Lyla woke up. She proceeded to eagerly help me with laundry, meaning she undid all my folding and dragged the clean stuff into the floor.

Then, again as I was nursing Kole, Lyla was grabbing at herself saying poopy. I told her to wait just a minute and I'd help her get cleaned up. The next thing I know she's pulled her pants down and stepped out of them. This time Kole wasn't so happy to be left alone while I cleaned up the floor and had Lyla take a shower.

Then after dinner, which Lyla ate NONE of, she put her Bumbo by the coffee table and plopped herself into it, and hit her chin pretty hard on the edge of the table. This, of course, while I was nursing. These are just some highlights. And since I didn't get to do much all day today because of my mommy adventures, I'm going to try to clean some now before bed.

What are some of your mommy adventures?

Here are my latest mommy adventures:

Yesterday, Rowan was having naked time, and she walked up to me in a weird crouched over position and in a pathetic little voice said "Diaper? Diaper?" Then my friend who was over said something along the lines of "OMG! She's pooping right there!" So, since we were about 6 feet away from her potty chair, I grabbed her and started running, and she pooped and it hit my foot and I accidentally kicked it under the living room chair (which happens to be the chair she likes to hide behind when she poops, so at least it was consistent with her usual practices).

Also yesterday, I heard Rowan say "Knife, cutting," over and over again. Around the fifth time she said it I turned around to see what she was talking about and she was holding our sharpest cutting knife in her hands and pretending to cut the air.

What do you mean you didn't get much done today? You managed two kids all day! I'd say that's something.

I've definitely had those days. Days when all Teagan wants is to be held and/or nursing. Days when there's multiple poops on the floor (Teagan's and the dogs'). Days when I've just finished picking up her toys and I dare to turn around just to turn back and see that hurricane Teagan has hit. Days when the mailman seems like a perfectly suitable babysitter but I can't seem to convince him to delay delivering the rest of his route.

But then she does something ridiculously cute and I forget all about it.

Most of my mommy adventures involve my two not sharing. I do have quite a few where paint is everywhere as I'm running for the washcloth! Olivia looked like Braveheart the other week! LOL

Oh and trips to the Urgent Care or ER - had 5 of those so far, one tummy issue, 2 stitches visits, 1 pneumonia, and now 1 broken bone.
Yesterday's trip for the broken wrist was rough.

OH my! Y'all have me cracking up! Love the stories.

So far today (in the whole 90 minutes he's been up) Aiden has gone digging through the cat pan, flushed the toilet (really hoping nothing was in there but I'm not sure), tried to ride the cat like a horse, fell down 4 stairs, opened the oven door while it was on (I was making toast for breakfast), took several pieces of garbage out the can, and climbed on top of the dining room table and tried to take down a picture on the wall.
And I forgot the change his diaper till 10 minutes ago. lol

Yep, I think we all have those days! The most recent one that sprang to mind while reading the first few was how we went to Target the other day to buy new floaties (and ran into Erin, who called me while I was in the store to tell me they had the floaties ) and after picking some out, I smelled poop. I didn't have a diaper bag with me, having just picked her up from daycare, so I thought oh, well, it'll be good to have some backup emergency diapers at the pool anyway--I'll just buy some. So we went and grabbed some diapers and wipes and headed off to the bathroom. Well, it turned out it wasn't just poop, it was a POOSASTER that had leaked EVERYWHERE and all over the hem of her dress. I ended up strategically folding that up and stuffing it in my purse, and rolling Adair back out into the store in nothing but a sposie to pick out a new outfit. At the register, I told the girl "Sorry, we had an emergency. She's wearing these..." (handed her the tags off the clothes) "...these are open..." (handed her the diapers and wipes) "...and THIS is what I actually came here to buy." (handed her the floaties). ROFL It was so bad it was actually kind of funny even at the time.

What wasn't funny was when I was trying to stealth change Adair in the dark after she'd fallen asleep in the car the other night, and when I took off her bloomers I felt poop chunks fall out and hit my leg in the pitch black room! AAAAAH!!!

These stories are all awesome! I'm trying to think of some specific stories, but they've all blended together in my mind.

Currently my kids are eating their bedtime snacks, and this is the conversation they're having:

Claire (5): "You're Lainey. I'm Claire."
Lainey: "You're Lainey."
C: "No, I'm Claire."
L: "You're Lainey."
C: "You're Lainey."
L: "Why?"
C: "Because I'm 5, and you're 2" (she's not quite 2 but DD1 tells her she is sometimes)
L: "You're 2."
C: "No, YOU'RE 2!"
L: "You're Lainey."
.....and so on.
