Default My kitchen and dining room progress so far

We're getting there...slowly but surely. Here's the latest on my kitchen/dining room. The cabinets come Thursday and the countertop the middle of next week. Hopefully I can get the plumbers here right after the counter gets in and then get the appliances delivered. DH will be out of town all next week so it's up to me but I'm so desperate to move in to my new kitchen that I think I can handle it

You can't really tell in this picture but the ceiling is the same green color as the window wall. I had no idea how much I hated it and how small it made the room until it got painted white this weekend. I finally feel much better about that room. The green ceiling made it feel short and claustrophobic.

The floor has been replaced and the ceiling painted. My uncle is coming this evening to paint the walls. Woo Hoo!

I can't wait to get the cabinets in and show those to you

ETA: for comparison, here is a picture from when we first got the house.

DH and I are having a disagreement, you guys want to chime in??? See in the middle picture on the right side where the phone cubby is. I want it gone! I'm going to google how to drywall if I must and do it myself. I want it filled in. DH thinks it's sort of endearing to the house because the house is old and it should stay. Mostly, I think he really just doesn't want me to add anything more to his project list I will figure out how to do it myself and he knows it which I think makes him nervous

So, it's adds to the houses charm and we should keep it or it's silly and needs to be taken out?

Is it that little nook on the wall, if so I kinda like it, maybe not for a phone but for something decorative in that spot. But I am weird and like old stuff like that, though I have seen a few more modern houses with nooks built into the wall for decoirative stuff as well.

yes, it's the little nook. in older houses around here anyway, they put that nook in the wall and that's where your *gasp* corded phone went. some even went so far as to have a little notepad station up there by the phone. pretty prehistoric huh

Wendy- I'm not a knick knack fan. My mom loves it and same as you would put something in there. I do not like knick knacky stuff though so...

If you don't have a knick knack to put in that cubby, why keep it?

I was thinking like a vase with flowers or a bowl with those rattan balls, or even a nice family photo in a frame.
