Names....

Apparently I hate every girl name right now. Names I used to like I no longer like. I looked at 1,000 names today and didn't like a single one. I think I'm just being picky or pregnancy has really gotten to my brain.
Names that were on our list from once upon a time:
Katelynn (or some other spelling derivative)
Annabelle
Autumn
Bailey
Nancy (does anyone else picture a 40 year old soccer mom on prozac?)
Lilly
Willow
Karen

Any suggestions? Any of these names a serial killer or something? lol

Oh good grief. Let's not go into middle names. My original thought was to do something from DH's family since DS's middle name is from my family. But MILs name is Rebecca Monica and SILs name is Cheryle Denise. I don't like Monica or Denise really. Of course I don't like anything.

DH has his favorites and is already trying to call her by these names. *sigh*

How did you pick Aiden? What do you like in a name in general (traditional, unique, certain sounds?)

I personally don't like Nancy much. I think Lilly and Willow sound the best with Aiden.

What does DH like?

I am partial to Claire and Alaina (or Elena/Elaina, etc). Biggrin Other names I liked are Ella, Ellie, Quinn, and Lily. So from your list, I like Katelynn and Lilly. What about just Anna, rather than Annabelle? The only one I really don't care for is Nancy, but it's your baby!

Middle names - I used my middle name for DD1, then we used DH's middle name for Lainey. Now, don't shoot me if I'm wrong, but your DH's name is Chris, right (I could be wrong - sorry!). What about Christine?

He likes Katelynn and Annabelle. I hear Annabelle and think Annabelle Lee (Edgar Allen Poe). Probably doesn't help that Lee is my middle name. lol.
Christine is an interesting thought for a middle name.
Claire is off because it's my best friend's baby's name.

And Aiden was picked because it was the only boy name neither one of us hated. Seriously.

My friend has a DS named Aiden and she went with Addison for her DD.

If Annabelle makes you think Poe immediately, I doubt you'll ever get past that.

Caitlin Christine? CC or Catie for short?

Thanks for thinking through this with me! I don't know what my deal is right now.

DH didn't shoot down Christine so I can put that on a new list of names that I don't immediately hate (which is about as good as I can get right now ha ha).

I really did used to love Annabelle. But Poe is always stuck back there. I think it's good to knock it off the first name list at least.

I've told DH that Karen and Nancy have to go. I just see soccer moms on meds. I'm naming a baby. Not a middle aged woman with issues.

i associate annabelle with a coworker i strongly disliked so it is my least favourite Blum 3 i like Anna though. it helps that we have a lovely person here with that name Wink

Lilly is my favourite from your list.

other names i like are Lila, Elizabeth, Allison. i really like the classic names which seem to be making a comeback. do you have a certain style of names you like? were you planning to keep it A names or don't care?

Part of me fears that if I choose an A name we'll turn into the Duggars and want to keep naming every child with an A name. ROFL

I just told DH that all A names are out b/c of the Duggars and he basically thinks I've lost my mind. What's new? Blum 3

Zoe?

Apparently I'm stuck on "hippy names" according to DH. I can't decide if I like them or not. But I don't hate them.

I really like Lilly and Katelynn from your list. What about Annelise or Analiese instead of Annabelle? I tend to like very feminine and classic names for girls. I don't care much for Karen or Nancy either.

Do you think people will hire a Willow, Zoe, or Autumn one day? I'm trying to decide if it would pass the resume test. These kids of mine have to get a job and get out one day!!! lol

Zoe is cute! And you'd have both ends of the alphabet - A and Z!

I think Willow doesn't work with our last name and she will have that combination for at least 18 years.

Zoe or Autumn I don't think would have a problem. Willow.....I dunno. Try my Dr. test. I always put 'Dr.' in front of the name and see if I can picture a dr with that name! lol

Dr. Willow. More midwife-ish. lol
Okay that's gone. It doesn't flow well enough with my name.

I would like to point out, however, that Autumn does start with an A. You'll have to change the name of your blog to Cooking with Mrs. Duggar.....

Dr. Willow would do fine as a midwife, a naturopath, a chiropractor, an acupuncturist, or maybe a dietitian....lol

I'm not 100% sure but unlike other names I've thrown out tonight it hasn't caused him to put down his xbox remote and ask if I'm on drugs. Lol

Kinda feel like if #3 ever happens that the kid will have to be named from the middle of the alphabet. lol

I bet it is fun having the "name the kid" discussion at your house! Smile At least your DH has input. Mine simply vetoed everything I ever suggested.

He likes a lot more girl names than boy names. Boy names were awful. I was never in love with Aiden, but I didn't hate it in the least bit, DH liked it, and we ended the argument. lol. I still don't mind his name at all.

I think I may actually like a name! Lol We'll see if I like it in another week or two I guess. But can't' figure out a middle name for it. Oh well. One step at a time.

Ok, you just made me sit here and figure out what the middle of the alphabet is (is this something that should just be "well, duh!" information? If it is, I claim I am just really tired). Any way, the answer is M and N. So that will give you lots of choices if you do decide to go all crazy logical and slightly-Duggerish in your naming decisions. However, since there is technically no one letter that is in the exact middle of the alphabet, I think you could justify your decision to use any letter you chose for #3's name. I doubt anyone will judge you harshly for it. Probably because most of them would have to sit down and actually figure out what the middle of the alphabet is before they judge you. Unless of course, the fact that M and N being the middle of the alphabet is actually common trivia that everyone but me knows, and then I am sure they will judge, judge away because you did not follow the previously established pattern.... Lol

Wow, that was long.....did I mention at some point in there that I am really tired....words are just flowing out of me with reckless abandon at this point................

We never did agree on a boy's name that both of us liked. Good thing we never had to name a boy.

If I'm being entirely honest, I like Alaina's name but I was never in love with it. I just liked it better than anything else we had. I'm fine with it, and I wouldn't change it, but it's just not my favorite name. DD1 got my absolute favorite girl name of all time.

I think someone is tired. LOL!

Okay, I'm off to bed. I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts and suggestions this weekend. I'll be busy, so it maybe be as late as Monday before I'm on.

The boy name we picked out with DD1 was absolutely appalling to me by the time we had to work on names for DD2. It is funny how that stuff changes!

Okay, so I was following this thread on my phone while nursing Kole earlier and couldn't respond. Now it seems I've missed all the action. I was initially going to suggest Ariel, but then all A names got vetoed. Then I thought maybe Melody because it's pretty and feminine, but also works well for an adult, IMO.

I like Katelyn (or some spelling variation of it) and it was on my list, but a little high on the popularity list. Of course Lyla is a nice name. I also like Klaire (Claire) but I know that was taken. My DH and I also had a lot of trouble naming our kids since we don't agree on names at all.

Oh and my sister's name is Nancy. She's 26 years old, so I don't associate it with a middle aged, med dependent woman. I don't particularly love the name, but I don't hate it.

PS - I totally understand the Duggar thing.

If I'd been a teen mom (or even in my early 20's) my daughter would have been named Dinah Raine. It didn't even make the list when I was actually pregnant with a girl. We did end up with the same boy name we had picked out when we were pg with Lyla. It's the only one we could both agree we liked.

I'm kind of partial to Lilly Smile

Other names on my girl list: Amelia (Mia for short), Elaina, Ella, Charlotte, Victoria (Tori).

I really like Zoe a lot! I guess if you're not going with Lilly then it's an acceptable second choice Wink

I was going to throw in Abigail before seeing the A thing. Zoe is super cute! Chloe is another one.

The girl name I had picked out as a 14 year old was Kelly Morgan. Kinda sounds like an adult film star to me now Lol

I love Abigail btew Joy, if our next one is a girl she will be Abigail Jacqui ( I don't love the middle name but conceded as hubby had no say in Ronin's middle names so I let him use his grandmothers name this Tim) if our next one is a boy it is looking like he will be something Robert.

I really liked Willow, to the point I know want it on the list if we have a second girl. Zoe is my current supervisers name and she is lovely and Christine is my Mum's name.

Replying from my phone. It's 7:30 and aiden is still asleep. Oh glorious day!

I figured out the nancy association. I have a 2nd cousin with that name and she was a druggy once upon a time. Now she's a middle aged soccer mom with mental issues. Lol.

Still like Zoe this morning. DH says he could do it but still likes katelyn which seems boring next to Zoe to me now.

Melody is nice and I can't think of any negative associations to it. Lol.

Thanks y'all!
