Zoe goes better with Christine than melody though.
I think of you go with something like Katelyn there will be 20 others in her class with that name. Zoe seems more special to me.
I don't care too much if a name is popular or not since well, Aiden is mighty popular (still don't know any other Aiden's though lol). But having one popular named child I do find myself leaning towards something not in the top 20. Zoe was 40 something last year.
(Do you like how I"m on here instead of cleaning when I have to leave in 20 minutes? lol)
I love Zoe!! And Zoe Christine sounds great if you went that route. By the way, you and Kristi were cracking me up while I was catching up on this thread.
Save the cleaning for later.
You guys were crazy last night!
I like Zoe Christine. I can see it as a name of a midwife or a brain surgeon too!
What about Nora, Cassie or Arabelle?
Willow makes me think of a porn star. Just Sayin' I really like Zoe and Lilly. I could see you with a Lilly.
i like Zoe Christine!!! and i think it sounds great with your last name.
I love how honest y'all all are.
Aww and I got hubby on board for Willow as a possible name for a second girl giving us a total so far of a Ron in, Abigail and Willow
That was a fun read! I like unique and slightly "hippy" names. Willow was on my list by it didn't pass my Dr/Supreme Court Justice test. I also steer far away from top 100 names. Teagan is seriously like number 250 and I'm over the moon about that. I know one other Teagan and its a friend who stole her name. I don't care in the slightest because its a friend I never see.
So, given that I like off-the-wall names and Willow is off the list, I prefer Zoe or Autumn. I quite like Zoe Christine and I think it goes well with your last name. A lot of the other names scream middle aged woman or ditz from the south (Sorry! They just do!)
Here is my list from last time. Feel free to mock, vomit, or steal.
I like these:
I like Zoe. Its not a name you hear all the time and its really pretty.
I still like Zoe a lot. My sister gave me a look of WTH when DH slipped out with it in front of her last night. It's a pretty fun name though, so now I'm wondering if my kid can live up to that. I'll keep thinking and debating.
Thanks for the name ideas Erin. I'll run them by DH. lol
DH knocked down every name on my list and others that have been suggested except for Willow and Zoe. lol. My sister apparently likes Willow. But I still think it sounds funny with our last name. Which DH keeps saying she won't have all that long. (Is he trying to marry her off already?! lol) Oh and he's still stuck on Katelyn and Annabelle. WHich I liked two years ago, but not anymore.
when we were trying to come up with a name for Lucas DH shot down every name i gave him. Even when i first mentioned Lucas he paused and said "it's ok" i saw that as progress! lol.
not a fan of willow, i agree with Molly on this one lol
I also agree with Molly about Willow lol
Zoe is the name of my neighbors daughter. I love the name and they call her Zoe bug all the time. It is cute to me. I love the name Amelia.. Call me crazy but I think that name was mentioned in this thread somewhere.. but I know you shot down A names. Honestly I think all the time I wish I would have named Chloe Amelia instead. Amelia is her middle name.. I could still call her Amelia right? lol
i just wanted to throw in my thumbs up vote for zoe. i like willow but i do think its hard to pull off with middle and last names.
Amelia is her middle name.. I could still call her Amelia right? lol
We call Teagan T. Tesla all the time. So yeah!
Oh, Oh, Oh I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE baby name discussions (I still read namecandy regularly even though I'm not naming anyone!) Sad to be joining late but here's my two cents:
Wow, if your husband thinks those are hippy names he needs to spend some more time outside his airplane, lol! You should see my name list!
I love Zoe, but I actually didn't pick it because it's TOO common for me (Adair is a very old name but is not even in the top 1000 and never has been, which is as far as they track on the sites I was searching. Just the way I like it!) In this day and age I think Zoe is totally in the safe zone--not so common that there will be five in her class, but certainly plenty common enough for the resume test, not having to live with spelling or pronunciation headaches, etc. It has personality but isn't crazy or so limiting that she couldn't be pretty much whoever she wanted with that name and make it her own. In other words, a winner
And paired with something very traditional like Christine, I think that should put it squarely in your comfort zone. Good work, lady!
From your original list, ITA with Erin. I personally like Willow and Lilly but not the others.
Im 90% sold on Zoe today. Lol
Let's talk middle names here. As mentioned before I originally thought to do something from DHs side but there are only two girls!!! Rebecca (way common and I'd feel odd using it) Monica and Cherylle Denise. *sigh* Aiden's middle name was super easy for us - Alexander which is my dad's middle name.
I sent this list to DH tonight just to get his reactions. You'll see his favorite first names on there. He's just very, very traditional and well boring with his names. Lol
I like Zoe Christine, Zoe Denise, and maybe Zoey Annabelle. Zoe Belle just sounds like a nickname to me. I just don't like the sound of Zoe Katelyn, especially with your last name. Zoe Willow doesn't flow at all. Zoe Vivienne is too many syllables with your last name for me.
I can't support Vivienne right now, there is a Vivienne I have negative connotations with. I still like Zoe Christine
I was seriously going through old forum threads found through google with name suggestions last night!!! Lol!!
Zoe Annabelle, Zoe Christine, Zoe Bella.
I like Zoe Christine and Zoe Denise best. The others just don't flow to my ear. Mainly I'm thinking that two syllable names with the stress on the second syllable make a nice pair with Zoe. (Although ALL of my middle name possibilities had that same pattern, so maybe I just like that sound for middle names? Ha.) But yeah...there's nice and tidy about those. I think something like Annabelle just becomes a mouthful. Can you imagine shouting that across a playground?
So now my husband says he doesn't want the kid to be named after him with Christine. But he might consider Zoe as a first name if there's a good middle name. WTH dude?! Cause he thinks Willow and Katelyn are way better names. Though he can't decide on how he wants to spell Katelyn.
Really? Your DH has weird taste. I don't see those two names as being in the same style set AT ALL. Katelyn is so 80s to me, and Willow is pretty, I actually like that a lot, but...I don't get why he does!
That said, I don't hate Zoe Katelyn, if it would make him go along...DH and I agreed on the first name through an elaborate system but when it came to the middle I gave him a list of five I liked and just flat out let him pick. I liked them all and honestly would have been happy with any. Maybe that could work for you?
What's driving me nuts is that I only get snippets of comments from him. He will not simply discuss names like we did with Aiden. :banghead:
At least you haven't backed yourself into a corner of having to pick a middle name that is 1) the name of an influential scientist 2) not CRAZY and 3) wicked cool sounding.
How would it look if, after naming my first kid Tesla, I go and name the second one Elizabeth or Jonathan?
I 100% have my second girl middle name. I 70% have my second boy middle name.
The really funny part is that as much as we argued over Aiden's name, we have a middle name for a boy. No first for a boy, but we have middle! But no, we have a girl. And silly me thought that this would be easier than naming Aiden. HA. HA. HA.
We have a maybe middle name for a boy, but hubby isn't open to discussing boys names because he is that sure we are having a girl next. Still working on hubby for Willow for a second girls name though, we are set on Abigail for our first girl, but Willow is now sticking with me strongly, I like Willow Ruby, but the flow isn't working for me. Our maybe boy middle name is Robert, it comes from both sides of the family
Have any long car trips with DH coming up? I've heard that's a GREAT time to make them talk baby names My DH wouldn't discuss really until 32+ weeks, and we didn't decide until a week before on a list of names, but not knowing the gender made it feel less of a worry to not be calling it by name earlier.
Zoe is pretty and I haven't heard it used in awhile! Too bad he won't accept the Zoe Christine idea- that's pretty! I was trying to think of a hybrid of names from his family girl names, but right now I'm not being too clever, but maybe there's something there!
No road trips planned. He isn't allowed to take time off till after this baby is born and even then it's been requested that he only take 3 days. My husband's hours are long and I get that he's tired at night once home but c'mon man! The pregnant lady is going crazier than usual.
I like Zoe Christine the best. How about Zoe Kathleen? It kind of mixes Christine and Katelyn?
i still say Zoe Christine!! we don't have names for any future kids. Well, I do but I don't know if DH is on board
Your DH is silly. We all know Zoe Christine is the perfect name. Naming kids would be much easier if we didn't have to consult the father.
Okay, middle names again. Want it to mean something, so starting off with family names (mostly DH's side since DS's middle is from my side).
Throw out names that are like the following names:
I like Rebecca and Mason.
Well, Denise is the only one that fits my preferred syllabic pattern, but I like Rebecca and Mason better just on their own merits.
I'm not a fan of any of the name other than Rebecca and I'm hesitating on it. Hoping to find another name that's similar to them or uses part of one of the names that I'd like and still honor family. DH's family has no one else (no grandparents or aunts ever mentioned by anyone in that family *sigh*).
Here's a thought that may or may not be helpful...does the middle name HAVE to come from his family since his family does, after all, get the LAST name for both kids? That was my reasoning for choosing a middle name from MY family for Adair (and probably all kids, if we had more) First name = their own. Middle name = honors mom's family. Last name = honors dad's family.
I know there are a million and one ways to name your kids and what's most meaningful to YOU is what's important, but...just a thought
Well, Lee is from my family not DH's. DH keeps telling me that she won't keep Ramberg forever.
Well yeah, but most people move their Last to their Middle when they get married, and drop the middle. (Me, I shoved them all over and dropped the first one. Leigh was originally my middle name. What a shocker--yes, I'm from a southern family! However, I too hate "Lee" and never would have done that if it was spelled that way!)
Just wondering if there was anything else promising in your family tree...if so, I think a case can be made
Another thought/question...any BOY names on DH's side that can be girlified?
My sister is a Rebecca so I'm biased. I like the name but it means my sister to me.
She may just choose to stay a Ramberg. I probably would have kept my last name or done some moving around but Erin Hahn Vaughn just sounds RIDICULOUS and it would confuse the living daylights out of people if I were Hahn & DH were Vaughn. So, I just went the traditional route.
Can I also just hijack a little more to say that I'm quite glad you dropped your first name, Leigh. It would have been wicked confusing in chat.
