OT: Help w/ Friend (cancer mentioned)

One of my very good friends, who is older...is now battling cancer for the 2nd time:0(
(Breast) She is probably going to get a double mastectomy...and will be out of commission for a while...she has horses (16) and cats...
I am not made of $...but would LOVE to help her...(She lives alone)

I was thinking of freezing meals?! A TON for her....recipe ideas???
and ???
Anyone have any low cost ideas I can do that would help her? I am going to try to feed for her a few nights a week...but it is so hard w/ 3 kids and my ZOO of animals here...I really am limited on time!

Also, please say a BIG prayer for her...she is very sweet...and I know she is stressed about dealing with all of this...

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend. Freezing meals is a great idea. I have had my share of surgery's and always loved when I knew I had something all prepared for me.

Lasagna is fairly simple and freezes well. Just freeze is before baking then all she'll have to do is take it out of the freezer and throw it in the oven.

I'm sorry to hear that she's going through it a second time. I'm assuming it hasn't spread if she's having a mastectomy and still being treated for it, so I will take that as a somewhat good sign. I will keep her in my prayers.

Lasagna...great idea!
Well, They are doing 1-2 more tests to make sure it hasnt spread:0( And another biopsy Friday...I don't know how fast they will do all of this...but it seemed urgent...
Thank you ALL for the prayers. She will appreciate them:0)

Muffins, pancakes, and waffles freeze great. She could then just take out what she needs and put it in a toaster oven or microwave.
Mini meatloaves. Once again, just take out what you need and oven or microwave it.

Yes, soup is a great freezer meal! Pasta dishes freeze well, too.

I think having your kids make her pictures is a nice thing, too...just to cheer her up a little bit.

You could always do the meal ideas, and do the prep for her, but she would probably still have to do the cooking.. Or you could just make extra of your meal and bring them to her after freezing..The might make it easier..

What about using a site like this? Friends of ours have a son with lukemia and with the help of this site we are able to coordinate meals with other friends for them. We would sometimes just double our meal and drive it over to their house before we ate if we knew they were home that night, that way they could get some fresh stuff as well.

Pasta is my favorite frozen meal, it holds up so well in the freezer. I'll have to look through my recipes when I get home to see what I have that freezes well.

Since summer is coming up another idea is to can up some fresh green beans, pears, peaches, applesauce or anything else for her.
