We have a cutting board wooden play food set (Melissa & Doug) that I love that was given to us as a gift. There are also a lot of wooden food sets on Etsy.

My Ovulation Chart
I took yesterday off from the play kitchen but busted some out today. No nudey butt pics of Teagan because I did most of it during her nap.
First things first. I painted base blue with left over bathroom paint.
Then I constructed a piece that serves as a back splash and holds the cupboard up. Here it is just balancing there while I was testing the fit. I had to buy wood for this part because we didn't have anything in the scrap pile that would work. $14 Home Depot. The perfectionist in me even caulked all the corners with some caulk that was lying around to make up for the uneven cuts my skill saw produced. We seriously need a table saw.
Then I painted all those pieces to match the base.
I also worked on the doors today. I painted the cabinet doors with paint left over from T's room. I cut plexiglass (Home Depot - $9) and epoxied them into place.
I cut a square in the door that will become the stove door, sanded it, and then puttied the crap out of the other side of it. I discovered that this putty requires 24 hours to set so that's as far as I got with the stove door today.
Erin, that kitchen is insane! I am beyond impressed that you are just putting this thing together, no pattern or anything! I bow to your creativity!
That kitchen looks awesome! I can't wait to see the finish product. I love the coasters as burners!
Wow, that's looking AWESOME! I'm jealous that you're getting to work on it yourself. I would have done a much neater job on ours than DH did (shhhhhh)
Not kitchen-related, but related to the original "how do you keep your kid entertained" part of this thread: I can't tell you how much the answer for us is "water". On our trip, even though we spent the entire morning at the beach and the afternoon in the swimming pool, if there was a period where DH and I wanted to get something done or read a little longer or whatever, all I had to do was put Adair in the shower with it on a light drip and let her have a couple of plastic cups, and she'd sit in there filling them up and pouring them and drinking from them for at least half an hour if not more--often I had to drag her out. She's water crazy!
Also the magnetic fishing game I mentioned in the chat thread. She LOVES that thing, and it's good for fine motor skills!
Erin that is uber creative and awesome!!!! When we were little my grandpa made us a play kitchen set, I'll have to take/ find pics. I also love the rocking cow he made us. What great memories you're creating for Teagan!

now, compare your's to these from the late 80s my grandpa made!
Although these are still standing they may be a bit outdated haha
You know, maybe I could update them a bit somehow...
