    Default Potty stuff - help!

So I want to get a new training potty for Kole. This may sound silly since I bought one to use for Lyla already - This one. I hate it. The negative reviews are absolutely right about it, but the little bucket inside is also small and when I sit Kole on it, I have to scoot him way back for him penis to point into the potty, but if he's pooping I have to scoot him forward and then his penis hangs over the front lip. Not gonna work. I know he'll eventually be standing to pee, but it's a crappy (no pun intended) potty.

I'm thinking either THIS Once Upon A Potty or THIS Pourty one.

Also: Any night PT tips? Lyla takes off her diaper overnight and then pees in the bed. Sometimes when I get her in the morning she will come out of her room and hand me her diaper, other times I have to hunt for in the her room. It's only a matter of time before we end up with a major poop catastrophe. She takes her diaper off herself after naps too. Yesterday I got her after her nap and she handed it to me saying, "Stinky, wooweee!" Luckily, it wasn't.

Yikes!!! I am sooo glad that Adair is not into taking off diapers (it annoys me when it's time for her to actually use the potty, but I will take it at all other times!!) But "stinky, wooowee!" is pretty hilarious

Both of those potties look great. I do like the idea of the one-piece kind. We have a hand me down Bjorn with the insert, and while I certainly wouldn't say I hate it or anything, the insert is always getting knocked around--once it stuck to the back of her legs when she stood up and dumped out on the carpet! That was extra awesome. My only worry is that Adair likes to dump it out into the toilet and flush it herself, and with a one piece that would be a lot harder...I know that's not an issue for Kole at this point, but just maybe something to think about for the future, since I know you don't want to keep re-buying potties!

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking of too. I'm sitting here neglecting my kids to read potty reviews on amazon. I like the idea of maybe a smaller one for now since I'm trying a bit of EC, but I'd like for Lyla to maybe use it too. Maybe we'll keep the one we have in her room for overnight and see if that works. . . But, yeah, definitely don't want to keep buying potties.

I will also take recommendations if anyone has a different suggestion.

I rather like my Baby Bjorn potty. Its the little one piece that's similar to the one's you linked to. I like it because I don't have to worry about T using it while I'm cleaning the insert and T has a harder time walking around with it. I've not had to deal with a tiny penis so I can't say what would happen with one of these.

From what I've heard, little boys don't start standing up to pee for some time. Most likely, he'll be on to a big potty by the time he gets there.

I don't have any advice for the night time diaper business. T doesn't take hers off. What about a onesie? Do they make onesies in her size? Or a jumper? Just something to thwart her efforts. Night time PTing is really something that's physiological and can't really be rushed.

Yes, Aiden is sitting down and will be for awhile. We've been working on him holding his penis down because he wants to watch it as he pees which means it's sticking straight up. He did use the potty once yesterday.
We did have a one piece potty for the floor (which he now refuses to use) and I did like it being one piece. Mine was an IKEA one, so doesn't help you any. And it's not really small enough for baby butts.
My BFF has been trying some EC recently. I just asked her what potty she's been using.
ETA: Apparently she's just holding her 8 month old over the big potty! She has a very tiny bathroom and said she can't figure out where to put one and her DH refuses to let her put it in the nursery.

A onesie (maybe backward so it's harder to unsnap??) is a great idea. They make them up to 2T for sure (Addy still sleeps in them sometimes) and I think they do go even bigger.

They even have onesies that snap at the shoulder--maybe you could just sew the crotch SHUT and pull it on from the bottom up.

I tried holding T over the big potty when she was really little and it did. not. work. She screamed and screamed. It was just not her thing. She preferred the little potty. Worth a try for sure though! Sarasunshine just holds her LOs over the sink. My bathroom sink clogs easily and I'm skeeved out by the thought of using my kitchen sink so I never tried that.

That's a great idea to sew the crotch shut, Leigh!

DS1 still sits down 50% of the time to pee.

The potty I got was a really cheep but great one from a shop you guys don't have over there and it works just fine.

I'm impressed with all these potty trained kids. I leave Tobey nappyless for a couple of hours a night and he usually holds it in but a few nights a go he came up to me crying saying he'd pooped on the floor ("Mummy, MAVIS poo poo. Jus dere!"). So he took me to it and he'd just wee'd He often sits on the potty but nothing comes out and he always has to go to the bathroom with DS1 and report back what he's done

That sounds pretty much like where we are with this too. She's been in the PT classroom for over a month now and although she'll try, she still has yet to go in the potties there (although Teagan goes at school like a champ!) At home she'll mostly hold it, but we don't trust her enough to sit on the couch or in her high chair without a diaper. Running around with NOTHING on the bottom is maybe 95% safe, but we've had some accidents for sure, and will definitely have more.
