pregnancy ?'s

Has anyone had or heard of swelling on the back? I have little pockets of swollen skin folds right above my tailbone. I'm not swelling or retaining water anywhere else except slightly in my hands. Can't find anything on that.

Tell me about back labor. Does it feel like actual contractions...

Anyone have experience with anterior placenta?

No idea about back swelling.

I had evil pit back labor due to Aiden being posterior. I still felt contractions in my stomach, but those were easily ignored compared to the lower back pain. Came and went with contractions - wasn't constant. Felt like stabbing at peak. Laying down made it worse.

My best friend had an anterior placenta. I have read that there is a greater chance of a posterior baby with an anterior placenta because many babies seem to like to face their placenta. My best friend just paid attention to position and had no issues with her birth.

Both my BFF and coworker friend who recently had babies had anterior placentas. All it really seemed to mean was that they felt a lot less movement, and starting later. Both had natural (though slightly complicated for other reasons) births in the end, and neither baby was posterior.

Never experienced or heard of swelling like that in the back.

Back labor forever with Odin. He flipped after/during my water being broken. It was painful for sure but still felt contractions in my belly as well. Like Jackie they didn't seem like anything compared to my back. Counter pressure on my back worked really well during contractions. Like I demanded my MW's and DH put so much pressure that I was brusied for a while after. Could not be on my back or sit for labor or pushing. Hands and knees and side felt much better.

My placenta was anterior with dd. Only effect on me was that it was much later for me to feel movement- first felt it to know what it was after the big U/S and still didn't feel it regularly for some weeks after that. With this pregnancy I have already been feeling occasional flutters for a few weeks. I had no issues with my delivery from it.

No idea on the back swelling, sorry!

Back labor sucks compared to regular labor. DS was back labor the entire time and he was born sunny side up. It does not feel the same as regular contractions. However, you will still know when to go to the hospital because it does build up and get stronger, just like contractions.

Yes, anterior placentas with both DS and DD. I felt movement after 20 weeks with both, I think 24 and 23 weeks or so? There is also a greater chance of placenta previa with an anterior placenta. I experienced that with DD, but it moved up by 24 weeks even though it was totally covering the cervix at 20 weeks.

I had anterior placenta and I dont think it interferes with labor or delivery.. I had Natalie after two c/sections natural and she was anterior..

I don't have any experience with any of the things you mentioned, but I hope you get some answers about the back swelling, especially!
