The princess is busy for a moment and Noah is asleep. So, we've been mega busy again trying to get the things on our house remodel list done before winter. There are a few things that HAVE to be done before it gets into winter so we've been at it nonstop. Clara's a brat and I'm ready for her to be over this "stage". Yep, I said it, she's a whiny little stink pot and causes 90% of the trouble around here. Noah is perfectly perfect and does everything perfectly. DD1 is well, a teenage girl so use your imagination. DS1 is trying to figure out where he fits into our zoo, he's trying to be the "big brother" and take control but Clara is a force you just can't win against, I'm the only one that can outlast her and that's probably because we are the same person in two different bodies LOL. Grady doesn't stand a chance against her and DH can handle her for about 10 minutes and then he tags out. Don't get me wrong, she has her moments but right now they're in between meltdowns and they're few.
We are getting room after room painted because I want the downstairs rooms done before I start Christmas decorating. The walls have holes that need patched so I've been spending my evenings doing that. We got our new front door put in last night finally after a few snags and false starts. My two beautiful Maple trees in the front yard turned a beautiful yellow this fall and then proceeded to drop enough leaves to almost bury my 2 story house. Yeah, that was fun to clean up. We're not even done with it yet. I finally had to suck it up and go buy a leaf blower with power. Everyone had a killer cold last week and all the little kids got over it within a few days but it tried to kill me. Noah even got it but he got over it fairly quickly. We got the playroom repainted this week, I had the paint bought but changed my mind at the last minute and decided to go with Fighting Illini colors. Two walls are Illini orange, one wall is white and the other is Illini blue with a magnetic primer behind it so they can play with little magnetic letters on it. DH and I are taking Noah and going up to Ikea (3.5 hour drive) on Veterans Day to get the furniture for that room. I'm working on getting the living room and laundry rooms done right now. I've been taking out wall anchors from the previous owner and patching walls every night it seems like. I'm pretty efficient with drywall mud if you ever need anything done Add to all of this just general upkeep of a house with 6 people in it and I'm SWAMPED! I'm actually rewashing a load of laundry for the 4th time because I just have NOT had time to get to it yet. And my laundry room is stacked so high with dirty clothes from me doing other stuff and not laundry, to the point that I either HAVE to do laundry today or go shopping for more clothes
Ack, I think that's all. I've missed you guys so much *snif snif*
wow, you sound super busy. I am tired just reading all that Sorry Clara is being such a challenge right now. At least it is just her and not all your kids being difficult. I have no idea how to patch holes, I would love for you to come show me.
Yay!! I'm so glad you updated us. Sorry Clara is in the brat stage. I cannot imagine how busy/tired/crazy you must be. That playroom sounds like it is going to be pretty awesome. I didn't even know there was such a thing as magnetic primer.
Our house has been less active than yours. Not a lot new, Evan is now a fish owner and calls Halloween/Christmas lights weirdos. No idea about that.
That makes me so exhausted just reading that! lol. Have fun at IKEA. You've seen my place space and how much I love their one storage system. And yeah, you know sooooo much more than I do about dry wall and other house things!!!!
My life is Aiden hates sleep. I'm feel more "broken" at this point than I ever did with Aiden. Ready to go into labor NOW, but trying to remind myself that she's got until after Thanksgiving if she needs it.
Wow, exhausting! So sorry Clara's in that stage. I hated that stage. Addy's been much more pleasant lately, although these things seem to come and go like tides so I'm sure we're not so much past it as in a lull. She's a lot like me too (stubborn and independent!), and we do definitely butt heads because of it already . Funny how even when you can see these traps sometimes you can't help but fall into them anyway...
I love patching holes; it's so satisfying Jealous of your new front door! I loathe ours, but that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down on the priority wishlist so it will probably never happen unless we stay in this house for the rest of our lives.
Jackie- just remember it won't last forever, it won't last forever!! You're doing a great job baking what I have no doubt is a BEAUTIFUL little girl, keep going momma, it'll be over before you know it And your kids' rooms have inspired me, we'll see if I actually get it all done but I'm determined to actually have some decorations in my kids' rooms.....eventually I am a terrible decorator and have seriously contemplated hiring someone but on the flip side, I'm extremely picky so not sure if that's the best route. My BFF is an amazing decorator, I wish she wasn't an hour away and busy with her 3 kids, I'd force her to decorate my home.
Stacy- is that just his name for the lights or does he know what weird means? that's too funny by the way. what does he think of the fish? my kids have always wanted a fish but I do NOT need one more thing in this house to try and keep alive, Yogi (the shih tzu) just hangs on by a thread most days
Janice- youtube it if you ever need to figure it out. I watched my stepdad do it a few times and got the hang of it. It's being done out of necessity, I can't get DH motivated to do it so I either HAVE to do it or it's not getting done right now. He's been busy doing the things that I can't (won't) do, like stuffing extra insulation in the creepy closet (it's basically an attic closet just off of my bedroom closet that has a narrow crawl space off of it that I am way too fearful of spiders to ever crawl into) and replacing doors. I've done pretty much any job around the house once or twice, DH is a good electrician, my stepdad can do some plumbing and is also a good builder so I've learned a lot from him and DD1's dads family is in the construction business so I learned a lot watching him over the years. I'm pretty good with tools I try to leave the electric stuff to DH because that stuff scares me and he doesn't trust me anyway.
Leigh- I constantly find myself trying to avoid the confrontation with her but then after a bit I just can't stand it and I fall right back into on of those traps and then I catch myself doing it and scold myself for not being smarter! It's a constant battle of wills around here, sometimes I win some, sometimes I lose some. Mostly I'm just trying to stay sane and not lose my patience with her! She is really pushing it though, ugh, toddlers.....
I vote for going shopping. It's way more fun than doing laundry. I just washed a load for the second time because I left it till it got real stinky. I may be calling you in a month or two to come help me with a bit of drywall then, now that I know you have that talent. I think Lyla and Clara would be a force to be reckoned with if we got them together.
We are waiting on word regarding our offer on a house. It's really big and has a massive back yard. It needs some updating but there's nothing that we can't live with for a little while so we can move in and then work on stuff as we have time and energy and motivation to do so. I'm all giddy and nervous and antsy and eating ice cream. I'm a stress eater, so you can imagine what my diet has been like for about the last 8 months or so. It's not pretty. My dishes are piled up, my counters are covered in clutter, I have boxes all over the place and I'm sitting here on the computer! My MIL and SIL seem convinced that we are falling off the edge of the earth never to be seen again because we are moving 120 miles away.
Anyway, I need to go load a dishwasher and throw some clothes in the dryer and start a diaper load.
I think we should get Lyla and Clara together. We can sit back and drink a few bottles of wine and laugh cause if Lyla is anything like Clara she's not only a force to be reckoned with, she's hilarious as well when she feels like being funny
