How many bathrooms do you have? Do your kids have their own bathroom separate from you? If they do have their own bathroom, is it decorated nicely for guests or is it decorated in a kid friendly theme? And what is the theme? If you only have one bathroom is it a pain or do you not mind it?
The reason behind the madness:
1) I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with a 2nd bathroom after we move - if I want to find a nice color palate for it or if I want to do something kid fun. A lot of our bathroom stuff is getting old after over 5 years of use (I threw some stuff away before moving), so I think it's time for a change. I already know what I'm doing for our bathroom, but I'm curious what everyone else has done. I'm pretty sure we're going to avoid looking at houses that don't have 2 bathrooms.
2) I'm being nosy.
We techincally have 2 bathrooms, but one is in the granny flat downstairs so it never gets used. We only have one upstairs. I have never lived in a house with 2 bathrooms. It works in this house ebcause the shwer and toilet are in separate rooms and there is a sink in the toilet. Our bathroom isn't decorated, maybe when we redo it eventually.
we have three bathrooms, one on each floor. There is only one upstairs so we share it with Lucas and it is blue and white. If we had two upstairs I would probably do one kid themed
We have 3: one off the master bedroom (master bath), upstairs kids bathroom/guest bathroom, and downstairs guest bathroom (half bath). The kids bathroom is sort of mixed. The shower curtain, towels and rug are adult (blue with brown and tan accents), the soap dispenser and toothbrush holder have a kiddy theme (turtles and fish). It's not very decorated. We moved in 2 years ago, I probably should get on that.
We have 3 bathroom. 1 one the main floor (just a powder room-toilet and sink), and 2 upstairs. 1 is the master ensuite which has only a standup shower, toilet and sink. DH mainly uses this one because I dont like the standup shower. Then there is another bathroom for the rest of the upstairs. It has a full shower/tub, sink and toilet. This is mine and Simon's bathroom, but it's girly me themed! LOL!!! We have a rough in for another full bathroom in the basement so once we finish it there will be 4 in our house.
When we eventually move to a bigger house i want an ensuite for a full tub/shower, or a separate standup shower and jacuzzi tub, because there is no way i could shave my legs in that stand up shower. If me and DH both used the ensuite, I would probably just do a sort of do easily replaceable kid themed stuff like shower curtain, cup, soup holder, maybe some pictures, since they grow so fast and probably wont like the stuff in a year.
I'm going to answer based on both houses because the old house was more what we knew and the new house we're still getting used to and getting ideas about.
We had 2.5 bathrooms. 1 was off the master bedroom, one was the kids/guest bathroom in the hallway and one was a toilet room off the bar in the basement. The kids bathroom was decorated for guests not kids.
We have 3 bathrooms, one on each floor. The upstairs bathroom is "kid sized". It has a small tub (no shower yet) a smallish toilet and shorter sink. It's not decorated for anything yet but I don't really like kid themed bathrooms (they grow too fast) so I will probably never do a kid theme. The main level bathroom will be decorated for company but will likely be used by DH, me and DD1. The lower level bathroom doesn't even have walls yet, there's a toilet, shower with a curtain and a sink just sort of out there. Sounds lovely right
They are right next to each other in the hallway. The half bath is DH's bathroom and the guest bath, the full bath is mostly my bathroom. Neither is or ever will be decorated for kids, though there are lots of bath toys in the tub.
I was thinking about doing something not so little kid-ish, but yet fun.
Guess I"m still on an owl kick.
I like the Target on better, it's cute.
It reminds me of why I'm such a terrible decorator though. I can't stomach paying that much for an entire collection of a matching bathroom set. I'd love to have a nicely decorated home with coordinating colors and themes, but that decorating stuff gets expensive fast and I can't make myself spend $100 on a piece of art to hang on the wall or even $30 for a complete matching bath set. I'm a loser that way.
I'm the same Anna, I can't justify spending tons of money to decorate, I'm cheap. One day I will have a nice home.
