Scary day yesterday..

Yesterday I was just standing round (we were outside but I run in this heat so it doesn't bother me usually) and all of a sudden I felt my neck start thumping.. then I felt SO sick, like I was gonna vomit. I told my husband I felt like I was gonna puke and he told me to sit down. They had a pool deck right next to me so I went to take a seat. All I remember is turning around thinking, I will sit there.. apparently I went over there and I leaned over the railing. My husband said he ran over to me thinking I was gonna puke but I was out cold. I went to fall over and he caught me and laid me flat on the grass. Took about 30 seconds to fully wake up. I remember hearing him yell at me not to get up and yelling my name but other than that I couldn't see anything and I do not remember anything at all.. other than telling him I was gonna be sick and turning around. My butt, hip and arm are sore. I guess I fell on the pool deck.

I looked up online how many calories I need now that I weigh 184.. way more than I was eating. I have been going at about 1200 calories a day. This morning I had a pretty bad migraine too and that is not typical of me to get them unless there is a hormonal reason (pregnancy, time of the month..stuff like that). So I am going in to see the doctor today. I have also been losing hair like CRAZY! I don't know what the heck is going on with me. It could have been the heat I guess but I was 1 of 6 people out there...I am in the heat 3X's a week exercising hard and I have lived in tx all my life. I am used to the heat. I feel pretty dizzy today too.. and sick almost.

4 more hours I will hear what the dr has to say.

Oh my goodness, that IS scary. It does sound like it could have been a combination of heat and hypoglycemia, though, all things considered. Could you possibly have been dehydrated? I know that can give me migraines.

At any rate, I hope it is nothing serious!

Everything you describe sounds like 'a not enough calories' type situation. You experienced what I've heard anorexics experience because of not eating enough, including the hair loss. I'm glad you are getting checked out though and re-evaluating your caloric intake. I hope you feel better soon. Let us know what the doc says!

I agree with Anna & Leigh. Syncope (passing out) can be caused from low sugar, low food intake, heat and lack of fluids.
I really hope you get better soon though!!

He is testing my blood on Monday since the lab was closed by the time I was done. He said he has no idea what's wrong with me but he said he didn't think my blackout was food/heat related. He said if it was either it would have happened way before now. He said if it happens again I have to see a nerologist.. which was scary to hear. He said my weight loss was "too extereme" he wants me at 3 lbs a month. Ha! Yeah whatever that ain't happening. I will up my calories and keep with my exercise. He told Glenn to make sure I still exercise. Like looked at him and said "she will lose weight as long as she continues to exercise" Wtf! I think he thought I was on some fad diet or something. I tried explaining to him I was very sick before my diet and morbidly obease at 240 and all he said was I should have seen a doctor for it but since my symptoms are gone he didn't think it was worth looking into. Overall I guess my blood work will be the main thing that let's me know what's up. I was not too much a fan of him but whatever. He gave me anxiety Meds because I put that I have issues sleeping on my paper and he asked me a few questions like if I have phobias of things. I most likely do need those Meds but im waiting till I'm done with my weight loss and making sure my thryoid is in order.

Well, I still think from your description it does sound like it could have been food related--just because it didn't happen before now doesn't really sell it to me, but whatever. That said, I did have unexplained seizures/blackouts for about a year ten years ago, and had to see a neurologist. I even had one ON the EEG machine, which is super rare, but helped them definitely diagnose me...they never did figure out what caused it, but I was on meds for a year and a half and then weaned off them over about six months. Have never had another one since. If you do end up having cause for concern in that direction, feel free to PM me and I can tell you more. But--just wanted to put that out there. These things are more common than you'd think, and it can turn out okay.

Have your thyroid checked out as well!

That is scary. Made me think food related too. Hope it's just that and your blood work looks clear. KUP & totally sit down quick if you feel like that again.

Hmmm....Well, weight loss is usually most rapid at first but now that you're at a lower weight it should be slower (it's how the body works *normally*). I don't like the whole "only 3 pounds" but a slower weight loss than you had at first is reasonable. Maybe your body is processing nutrients different due to the weight loss or another underlying problem. I hope you get answers soon that leads you somewhere. Glad you are taking this seriously. I agree on getting your thyroid checked out. Those are typical symptoms. KUP!

That is scary! Please KUP and I agree with the others about having thyroid function tested. Make sure you're eating enough! Weight loss is good, but eating healthy is important, too.

Scary! I immediately thought dehydration and hopefully that's all it is. Its really easy to become dehydrated and you need to drink before you feel sick, not once you feel sick.
