Solution for now..

to my not wanting any more kids but dh wont get a snipped post.. I had an gyn appt.. Since I hate being on birth conrtol with hormones I asked for the diaphram.. Now that was a very interesting and personal appt. She said that no one asks for diaphrams or caps anymore.. She did looked puzzled.. It just makes sense for me to get teh diaphram versus other forms..But because no one uses them it has to be ordered..

I had to get fitted, then while she was in the room I had to take it out and put it back in by myself in front of her.. Gahhh!! That was a little strange.. Then she had to test to see if I put it in there right and she wanted me to feel my stuff so I know what is what down there. I did learn what my cervix feels like and where it is now, which I always wondered..

Just have to tell someone about my weird day!! Smile

That sounds totally awkward! I wondered about the diaphragm when I was researching non-hormonal BC options for while I was BFing. I just went for a BC appointment yesterday, interestingly enough, and my doctor also said that she does like maybe two diaphragms a year. She ended up talking me into trying a brand new very low dose pill, since my other options were the patch or the Paraguard IUD, and I don't want to commit to another IUD until I'm 100% sure we don't want anymore, and she said she doesn't like the patch and kind of hinted that she thinks it might be taken off the market soon. I've only taken it one day so far, so we'll see!

Good luck with that--if it's not TMI, I'd be interested to know how it works for you. I ended up deciding it sounded too messy. Smile

Awkward to say the least! Maybe that's one reason their popularity died? lol

So very awkward. I'm glad I wasn't made to check my strings in front of the MW when I got my IUD. It was so uncomfortable getting that thing in I probably would have smacked her if she'd asked me to.

I'm glad you've found a solution!

Erin, was it painful getting that put in? One of our clients from work say that the patients look a bit uncomfortable. I've never had one, so I was wondering.

Painful? Maybe. Uncomfortable, most definitely. My insertion took waaaay to long. I used my Hypnobabies relaxation techniques to get me through Smile

I did too! I would rate it up there with delivering the placenta.

I definitely got the idea from you. I would also rate it up there with delivering the placenta. Like, annoying (especially because it seems so unnecessary at the moment) but not intolerable. Women should be aware that it will be uncomfortable so that they're prepared but it shouldn't scare them off from getting one put in.

I think if it was any other doctor I would of been tramatized but this lady is well spoken about and a midwife so I wasnt as embarressed..

Really this kinda reminds me of a condom, but instead of him having to do the work, I do and the clean up..lol
