Is anyone else's kid chewing food up and then spitting it back out? Lyla has been doing this for a while now. I was hoping it was a short phase and she'd quit it but it just keeps happening! So frustrating. And gross.
Simon only does that with certain foods. Fruit for example, not all, but there are some that I think he likes the flavour but not the texture, like watermelon, apples, etc. Fruit like that. He takes a bit chews/sucks then spits it out. He's ok with smooth fruits like banana, and stuff like grapes, loves pineapple, but for some reason watermelon, apple and pear he spits out. I can only think of it being the texture.
Does Lyla spit out everything or only certain foods?
Lucas does it with food he doesn't like. Or like Mona said, some texture stuff. Like he will eat penne noodles, but if there is cheese on them, or they are slightly hard he hates them. He used to let it just fall out of his mouth, but now he mostly takes it out with his hands and throws it or sometimes hands it to me.
Rowan doesn't spit food out. She gently removes it from her mouth and tries to shove it in mine. Nothing better than getting a faceful of mushy chewed up food.

Oh my goodness, Sara!
Adair does this very rarely, and only when she really hates something. Which is rare because she's in a phase where she pretty much won't try new things unless I describe them in a way that sounds familiar (like telling her Israeli cous cous was "noodle balls") or if I try to keep it away from her/tell her she won't like it.
Aiden does it when he's full but wants to finish tasting the rest of his food. Or for things like hard fruits like apple or pear slices.
Really glad he hasn't repeated the chew and save food in his checks like he was doing last winter.
Lainey likes to take a mouthful of water and slowly let it dribble all down her shirt.
Ugh, Addy went through that phase. Drove me NUTS!
Jackie, !!! Is he a hamster??
She spits out anything and everything. Sometimes she'll eat a few bites and then spit it out, other times she'll chew up and spit out a few mouthfuls and then eat a few bites. It really seems random.
Aiden thinks it's a fun game to swish liquids around in his mouth and let it dribble out. And he LOVES to clean up liquid messes he makes, so in his mind it's a bonus that he gets to clean up after dribbling his drink out everywhere.
