Surgery Tomorrow

Sorry I've been so MIA, loads or work right now getting my center opened and dealing with current work & family.

Met with the surgeon last week regarding my gall stone attack on the 8th and it was decided that the gallbladder needed to be removed. So tomorrow morning I go in to get it removed. I'm pretty relieved since I've lost 13lbs in the last 10 days (yay & boo) with the super limited about of food that I can eat. Luckily I've still be able to nurse Archer, and Odin, but my milk supply is super low (more than usual) in the early evening and I'm guessing its due to not getting enough calories in me each day. I'm also exhausted more easily and have times where I become aware that I'm not thinking clearly or have no patience for anyone. Its crazy what lack of enough food puts you through! I'll be happy to eat more and a variety of food again in the next week or so and maybe those 13lbs will decide not to come back as well. Biggrin

Anyway the lady surgeon is great and is allowing the baby to stay by my side and nurse until they put me under. Then he can come back in with me during recovery and can nurse again after I pump and dump 1 time. She also ordered some pain meds that she felt were compatible with nursing but I'm still a little unsure if she 100% on target as everyone I've asked has their own (different) opinions. Total relief though as I was worried how it all would effect BFing.

I'll be taking it easy the next 4 days and be able to catch up more here. Yay!

:openarms: I get crazy when my blood sugar is low, so I can only imagine what you must be going through! I'm so glad you'll have it all behind you so soon, too, and it won't interrupt BF or baby time much at all. Wishing you all the best, and KUP of course!

Sorry you have to go through surgery, but at least there's an end to sight with your restrictive diet and you've been able to keep BFing. I hope everything goes really smoothly!
And I have no doubt that your diet is affect your supply. I'm sure the stresses that go along with that aren't helping either! With luck you'll be able to bring it back up to your normal soon after surgery.

Good luck tomorrow! Sounds wonderful about letting Archer nurse before and then once after dumping!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and wishing you an easy surgery. Rest assured that your supply will rebound. Its well established by now and will pick right back up once you get back to eating well.

I'll be thinking of you and wishing you a smooth surgery and recovery. That's great that it will hardly interfere with breastfeeding and I know your supply will increase once you are able to start eating enough again!

Surgery went well. Super sore in my torso from everthing. I forgot how important and used my ab muscles are for everything. Lots of side lying nursing going on for now. So glad my mom is here to help because I can't even carry the baby yet. Staying off my feet so I heal quick. Counting down the days until I start eating 'real' food Smile

Thanks Leigh. Healing up pretty good. Still sore but not as bad as it was. I have one area that isn't healing 'right' so I have to go get that check out. Its up high and pulls a lot when pumping and nursing so i think its just not getting a chance to close. Its also killing me not to be able to pick up Odin. Literally can't get him in and out of bed or up and down the stairs which is a PITA when he isn't cooperating. But food wise feeling soooo much better and my milk is back in much stronger from being able to add more food the last two days.

Now if I could have just asked them to do a little lipo or something while they were in there Smile

Glad you're feeling better! I hope that spot heals up quick. It's been rough this past week not being able to pick up Teagan because of my back. I couldn't imagine if she were just 3 months old. At least with her I can just force her to walk!

Really hope that spot heals up better soon! Very glad to hear that you're already noticing an increase in your milk supply.

Odin, not Archer, pain med lady Wink

But still, that must be a pain! I can't imagine not being able to pick Adair up at all...or even credibly threaten it to make her move faster. Lol Hope the rest of your healing goes quickly...VERY glad you're finally able to eat and really nurse again, at least!

Glad you're feeling better. I can't imagine not being able to pick up Clara right now, I don't carry her often but man, sometimes you just need to be able to pick them up and redirect them or keep them from bolting. I bet you're putting your patience to the test with Odin this week Smile When do you go in about that one spot?
