    Default teeth brushing

how is this going for everyone? we were doing ok for awhile, but now he will barely let me get in there. He is excited to "brush his teeth" before bed and he will get on his stool at the sink and ask for his brush, but he just kinda sucks on it. When I try to brush after he is done it is a big fight i would literally have to hold him down.

Simon gets like that when he's teething. Otherwise he loves it. Maybe Lucas is working on his last molars? Sometimes it helps me if I pretend to brush his teddy bear's teeth. LOL!! Or sing.

Lyla loves it. She actually does a half decent job on her own, but I don't let her have the toothbrush until I get a good brushing done on her. She will open her mouth wide and giggle as I brush her teeth and then I let her brush her own after I'm done. Every time she gets near the bathroom she wants to brush her teeth. She's a strange child.

Yes, Adair is the same as Lyla. She will even go in there and climb up on the toilet to brush her teeth in the middle of the day by herself sometimes.

We let her do it first and then do a thorough job after, but maybe switching it like Anna does would work better for you? I also like the pretending to do ________ to the stuffed animals first trick. That has SAVED OUR LIVES on more than one occasion, with everything from eye drops to hair brushing.

I give up on teeth brushing. Mr independant will not and has never allowed me in to do a good brush daily. He clamps his mouth shut. I have tried everything i can think of, telling him we will tickle his teeth, having him brush mine while i brush his then swapping, holding him down and prying his mouth open etc. I get a swipe in when i can but it is a battle everyday

Wendy, I'm glad to see your response, because I was reading the others and starting to feel terribly neglectful - Rowan never brushes her teeth. Ever. She likes to chew on *my* toothbrush, and she likes to sit on the sink and wash her feet while I brush my teeth, but she won't let us brush hers and she won't let us come near her with toothpaste. I'm hoping it's just a phase and after this current set comes in (she has 4 on their way right now) then maybe she'll let us.

Sidenote though - Rowan does love my orthodontist. Calls her the "teeth doctor" and sometimes asks to go. Unfortunately for her, my treatments ended.

Are they his second molars? Rowan is just working on the cuspids now. She's always been slow to get teeth.

This is probably a dumb question, but have you tried fruity kids' toothpaste? I only ask because Adair FREAKS OUT if I put the mint kind in her mouth (it happened a couple of times by accident) but she tolerates the strawberry J/A/S/O/N stuff we got at Sunflower.
