I put Lyla down for a nap. About 30 minutes in she starts talking under her door - not unusual, so I left her. However, she wouldn't get back in bed and after a bit she started to whine and get cry-ee. I went to check on her. She had removed her diaper and pooped in her bed!!! What on earth is going through this child's head? I guess I should thank my lucky stars she didn't paint the room with it (happened to my sister).

Jackie. I SO feel you. Watching your partner go through that kind of stress is unbearable. We're dealing with that for DH passing his oral exam & getting funding to graduate. Its so hard to have put in sooooo much effort to potentially have it all ripped away. There's little more we as wives can do but to encourage them and do our best to give them the space in which to do what they need to do to succeed. I don't talk to DH about this but I've been thinking of contingency plans should he fail his exam. I don't think its constructive to talk to him about it but we really need to have a plan in place if the **** hits the fan.

Leigh, I'm sure Addy will do great adding a little extra time. Teagan does better when she's not being dropped off or picked up right in the middle of some important transition (like end of nap or moving to another room). Picking her up right after snack seems to be a more natural transition AND keeps her happy until dinner.

Stacy, I can't figure out that app. Maybe it just doesn't work on my phone. I just use the web to lurk and don't post.

Anna, scary!! Good thing he's chubby. More bounce. T hasn't ever fallen off the couch but she's tumbled off her bed 2-3 times. Then there was the time she somehow got our of her crib. SCARY! I'm sure he's fine. Just give him a little extra smoochies.

It didn't seem like he was crying hard enough to cause the puke, but could be. He's got a huge red mark on his head where he landed and he's sound asleep now. It is his usual nap time though. I just looked at him not a full minute before I heard the thunk. Lyla never fell off anything at that age. She took a 3 food tumble off our bed around 10 months and landed on all fours. Also around that time she climbed/fell out of her crib but landed on soft stuff. She didn't start falling ugly until she started walking and climbing.
OMG hugs!! I'd be sick about it too...but I agree that he's probably totally fine. A friend's baby fell off of their bed onto a concrete floor at some young baby age...maybe 6 months? And he was 100% fine. DH was in an infant car seat on a table or counter at 5 months old and flipped it off, landing head first on the floor. He's fine. Babies are made to survive.

Erin, hugs to you too. I totally agree with how you're approaching this. That's one reason I can't imagine working in a grant-funded field. So stressful!!!

Eek!! Bed would be bad enough, but you are right, it could have been worse. How horrible to clean "paint" up!

Finally getting to eat! Yay for food!!

Erin, I hope you don't need to implement the contingency plan, but I agree that it's a good idea to have one. I also completely understand why you wouldn't talk to your DH about it. Seriously, you don't want to have him thinking for even a second that you don't have complete faith in him. Which you do, of course.

Oh my goodness, my eyes are crossing at work. Today is boring work day, and I would rather be on here stalking instead of catching up on lab results entry. Must.....stay.....focused. And being Friday does not help matters.

Anna, Just keep an eye on him (maybe use that nifty new wrap ) and stick with your instincts. Aiden did a lot of falling as a baby. I don't remember how young he was - had to have been before 4 months because it was before he was rolling for transportation - but Aiden fell off the couch a couple of times. I know "they" say you shouldn't ever put a baby on a couch, but we all do it at some point. I've lost count the number of times Aiden has fallen off of chairs, couches, beds, etc. This child climbed onto the kitchen counter and took the small sugar container out of the upper cabinet this morning, but is too afraid to get off of my bed without falling and crying still.

Erin, I'm definitely playing the what-if game and wondering what we'd need to do to make things work if worst comes to worst. But I know I can't talk to DH about this. It would make things worse for him like you said about your DH. Anyways, DH called me and told me that he now has a retain flight next Wednesday. As in fail this and he's done....what done means who knows. OMG I feel like everything is falling apart! Over 2 years of training hell for nothing?!

In good news, Aiden after 3 weeks of pretty much no potty using has been wearing underwear and peeing in the potty most of the day. Where this came from I have no idea, but I like it! He won't sign potty to me, but instead pulls down his underwear and takes off running for the bathroom. lol
