So I'm still worried about Luke's weight. If you don't remember, he went from the 25th% in weight at 2 months to the 5th% at 4 months. He was 11 lbs 11oz (naked). The ped wasn't too overly worried, but did want me to try and get a few extra calories in him and keep an eye on his weight gain. So I've increased the amount in Luke's bottles at the sitter, and try to bf him more often when I'm w/ him.
He is gaining some, but I'm still worried that it isn't enough. Last Friday I took him to a bf group at our local hospital, ran by a LC. I was able to weigh him, then feed him, then take his weight again to see what he was taking in. He was 12 lbs 8 oz before feeding, but w/ all his clothes on. Then after feeding he was 12 lbs 11 oz. This was feeding both sides, and he only took 3 oz total, which doesn't seem like enough. But it wasn't really our normal feeding time b/c he had just eating about 1 1/2 hrs before, so maybe that had something to do w/ it? Anyways, today I tried to weight him again, but on my home scale and I'm not sure how accurate it is. Again w/ all his clothes on, and this time he is about 12.9 lbs, not quite 13 lbs.
According to the baby growth chart on babycenter.com, this is under the 5th% for his age. Should I be worried about this? Should I take him back to the ped for a weight check? They don't mind, but it will be way too hard for me to get out of work for this. (It would probably count as an attendance occurence, I would get written up for it, my boss is a big B , sorry, going off on a tangent here.) His next check-up isn't until May 4. I'm not sure if I should wait that long. What do you think?
Oh, and I feel like I should add that I don't have any other concerns. He is a generally happy baby and sleeps fairly well at night. He is pretty active, constantly rolls all over the place, won't stay in one place for long and can be across the room in minutes. And he is currently working to get his knees under him like he is trying to crawl. He also loves to play w/ his toys and interract with me and his sister. So I'm not worried about his developmental milestones.
OK, Alexander was in the 25th for weight when he was born. His weight went up, slowly up, but by the time he was 5 months old he was in the 2nd for weight. However, he was in the 25th for height when he was born and was in the 98th at 5 months.
The nurse wanted me to BF him more but he just didn't want to eat and I couldn't really force him. I then started him on solids and he soon chunked up (to the 25th again by the time he was 7 months).
He is still in the 20th for weight and the 98th for height at his 2 year check.
If he's growing in height (which I'm sure you said he was in your other post) then I really wouldn't be worried about him. His weight IS going up even if it's slowly

Since he's hitting all his milestones in a timely manner, I probably wouldn't go through the trouble of getting weighed at the pedi's office. He is growing and is doing well. He's just small. Some babies are just small. Now if I did have other concerns then I'd get him checked out sooner. ((hugs)) mama. He sounds like he's doing just fine.
Its totally hard not to worry about these LO's. You could always check in with your doc. if it will give you peace of mind. Sounds like he is healthy, happy, and growing though so there shoundn't be much worry. You DD was on the small side as well right? Maybe that is just how your babies grow.
The doctor had us worring about Odin's weight gain forever, he had lost weight the 1st 3-4 weeks and wasn't gaining until after about 5-6 weeks. Visits to a specialists and some invasive blood tests showed nothing and yet everyone still worried about his slow gain. He still gains slow and I'm at peace with the fact that that is just how his body works because otherwise he is happy, healthy, and developing well. Today he sits around 13lbs 8oz which is only a small increase from his 9lb 2oz birth weight. We've been all over that stupid chart from 99% at birth to the 20%, 50%, and 5% at times. That chart is just a chart and someone is going to be at the top and others at the bottom so IMO I try not to worry. Harder said than done though.

I just have two thoughts: first, I've taken the boys to be weighed with those special scales before and after BF and they never seem to be able to get much more than 2 oz out of each side. The LC said that they never get as much while nursing in public because they're 'stressed' and don't nurse as well. Kinda makes sense to me...
Second, why don't you just call your pedi and ask? My pedi is awesome and has encouraged me to call with any questions I might have - he knows how difficult it is to get three young kids there for an appt and this sounds like a pretty simple question to me: My son is 5 months old and weighs approx 12 lbs, 8 oz. and seems otherwise healthy. Does this sound okay to you or do you want to see him?
Good luck! I bet he's just fine, but it's hard not to worry.
