Hey, I sent out like 3 emails and found three books to read for my comps. That was exhausting.
ick to 108.
Yeah, I got my first ticket ever in October. Speeding. I was tring to keep Odin awake and get to the shoe store to get Ryland some shoes. We had 2 exits to go and I was not going to let that kid ruin naptime later by falling asleep so I was going 10 miles over the limit. The ticket was crazy expensive, nearly $400. Then it was due the day after Christmas so after getting the money together (like we had $400 extra at Christmas time) I forgot to mail it and we were in San Diego for the week. I totally got a late fee and ended up having to pay $700 plus traffic school. Ugh. Lesson learned. I never speed anymore, ever. I was more pissed about it than DH was for sure. Who gives out a $300 late fee for something so expensive already???
16 weeks already Jackie
Ok, Archer burps like a grown man. Belches might be a better word.
Odin loves the water too and always is yelling "more water please". He was fully in our pool this weekend & it was only 73 in there which is cold. Im goona wait a year on lessons since he will get the basics just being in our pool all summer.
Ok, Archer burps like a grown man. Belches might be a better word.
And holy moly is that expensive!!!! EEK!
Kole farts like a grown man.
I'm not one of those ticket free drivers. I haven't had a ticket in 7 years, but there for a while I couldn't hardly get into a car without getting a ticket. I got a ticket when I was driving my drunk friend home, in her car, and her license plate light was out. Actually I've only ever had about 5 tickets total, 2 for speeding, one for the license plate light, and 2 no insurance tickets (my dad was supposed to be keeping up with the insurance since the truck was in his name and I was in college), but they were all clumped pretty close together. AND I got one every. single. time. I got pulled over. No warnings for this one. Ever.
Lyla is a total waterbug too. I want to get her swimming lessons at the Y, but don't know what to do with Kole for those times. He is EBF and has never had a bottle, so I don't know that he would take one. We won't take a paci at all.
I set up the kiddy pool again today since it's 101 out there. I had the bright idea to take Kole out there, and then I kept getting on to Lyla about not jumping on the baby and being careful and I think it took all the fun out of it for her. I'll have to figure out a way I can play in there with her, but still tend to Kole without him being in there.
WHAT?! That's ridiculous! Who has $700 lying around. Ugh.
I definitely yelled the F word really loud when I got out of my car to see what had happened and saw what that stupid stanchion had done. Our car (a Jetta) has TERRIBLE rear visibility...you can tell just by looking at the dent that there is no way in the world you could see something that height behind you (especially in the dark). Someone in a big van had parked weirdly at the end of the row, blocking me in, so I had to back up extra far to get out, and...crunch.
Adair just got off her potty (no results) and is now lifting up her dress and sticking her butt in the dog's face, giggling. Is it wrong that I kind of don't want to stop her?
HOLY CRAP that is expensive!!! I havn't ever gotten a speeding ticket. I usually only do 10km over and that is "acceptable" here. Most cops won't bust you for that unless they are being a jerk.
i wish it was 108 here it was only around 20 degrees today. i love love love hot weather!!! plus we bought a little giraffe pool with a slide for Lucas and we need hot weather to try it out He just got over this phase of being terrified of the bathtub so i also want to see how he will do in a little pool as well my dad has an above ground pool we will take him in. He likes water and splashing in it and he loves getting sprayed with the hose when i water the flowers lol.
Anna, what about using one of your DIY ring slings in the kiddie pool? It would keep him up high on you and his face mostly away from the splashing. Not sure how it would go in practice since I haven't done that myself obviously, but it's worth a try.
Anna, if the sling doesn't work what about a bouncy or a swing that you can put off to the side in the shade?
Janice, NO you do not want it to be 108. 108 is "hide inside" weather. Its just plain miserable.
Leigh, I wouldn't stop her. That's funny!
I just posted some pics from last night on FB and since I'm friends with all of you on FB, I'm not going to bother posting them here. Sorry. Lazy.
lol. Totally cute pics!!!
I'm not going to comment about how many times I've had a traffic run-in or how long ago it was (I'll just say it was a while ago) because I know I will totally jinx myself. *Knocks on wood* I never thought that I was the superstitious type, but it appears from this last statement that I am.
But back on topic - I can't believe that $700 ticket! Yikes!
Erin - cute pictures of the girls! I am jealous that you have so many pg.org friends nearby. And all with cute little girls almost the same age!
Anna, if you can find some lightweight mesh material, it would be easy to make a water sling for Kole. I had one that I got off babysteals, and it was nice to have. I wouldn't go completely handsfree, but it would make it easier to tend to 2.
Lainey didn't take a nap today. I tried really hard, but she just wasn't tired! We even rode in the car a little bit and that didn't put her out. She finally passed out at 6:15. This girl hadn't better be giving up naps already!
Aiden has gone days before without naps (almost all of last week pretty much) and he eventually always jumps back on the nap wagon. Even when he doesn't nap due to whatever reason I do still make him do a down time in the afternoon. Last week that meant watching a movie, reading books, being on my back shopping or at the zoo, etc. I was hoping he'd fall asleep doing one of those activities, but even if he didn't he at least was clam for a bit of time.
Teagan has gone without naps. Never at school but occasionally at home. She always gets back into her rhythm. That's not to say it isn't exhausting for me.
DD1 quit napping at 2 1/2, which is still pretty young for giving them up. And even at that point I had been encouraging her to nap pretty strongly. I'd like to see Lainey keep napping until at least 3!
Blah. One of the wives I did hang out with in Del Rio posted on FB that she doesn't get why there are all these BFing articles recently about NIP since there are bottles and covers. Apparently she forgot how Aiden refused a bottle. She even went out of town with me for a weekend and knows from that that I didn't always use a cover. She moved away when Aiden was 5.5 months old though. I just had to reply. *sigh*
Does anyone know how long you can have pain at your c-section incision site? It's been 5 years since my section, and my scar has been bothering me a lot lately. When I complained about it a few years ago to my OBGYN, they told me to get pregnant and the pain would go away. I got pregnant with Lainey and they were right, the pain went completely away. But obviously I can't keep getting pregnant to keep my scar from hurting.
I've heard that itching and numbness for years is common. I don't have any pain or itchiness though, just a slightly different feeling along it. What kind of pain is it?
Give it to her, Jackie.
Then post a picture of a dog nursing puppies on her wall and say "Awwww! Isn't this so cute! I do wish she'd cover up, though."
It's a deep ache most of the time. It is worse during mid cycle, when I usually get shooting/burning pains on one side or the other, and then it gets worse again during my period, when it also gets extremely sensitive, and sore to the touch. I've also noticed it gets worse when I do abdominal exercises since I've been working out more lately.
Well, this girl isn't exactly ready to be a mom yet anyways - she still doesn't see why locking up a kid in a dog crate isn't a good idea. (Wish I was kidding!) So I don't think most arguments will work with her. I told her that she might change her viewpoint once she's a BFing mom one day.
Well, that sucks. Months ago I had some pulling pain and figured it was from the scar tissue. Wish more moms knew of your potential issue before signing up for an elective!
Ah. You're probably wasting your time trying to present intelligent reasoning to her, then.
In 3 days Aiden and I will hit 19 months of BFing! I didn't think we'd get here at times. lol. He's really only nursing in the mornings (10-20 minutes). He asks sometimes in the afternoon, but after 30 seconds gives up. Tonight before bed he literally licked both nipples and said "all done." I know he's getting nothing right now, but hopefully colostrum comes in soon. I know I had some starting in the 2nd with him.
Jackie, I'm not sure that chick need to be having any kids of her own anytime soon. A dog crate, really?
I've thought about a ring sling, but I don't think I'm very talented at this babywearing thing, no matter how much I want to be more crunchy. I wear him during grocery trips and such just because I can't think of any other way to make it work, but it's so very hot that even that isn't working great. I have tremendous back pain and the ring sling is only good for a few minutes, so I use my mai tai for grocery trips, but it's even thicker than the sling. Even in the ring sling with a single layer of thin cotton fabric we are both drenched in sweat within 5 minutes, in the indoors with air conditioning! And we are barely hitting triple digits here! By July and August it's going to be up to 110.
Kristi, I didn't have many issues with my scar after about 6 months. This time has been much, much worse. In fact, I still have almost constant abdominal pain. I even have a numb spot on my left butt cheek that kinda tingles when I scratch it, very weird. I hope the next time you mention it, they check it out a bit and make sure everything is okay.
I feel for her husband. He was a great babysitter for us and I know he'd love to be a dad right now, but says no because he knows his wife is not emotionally ready yet. He is older than her by a few years.
I wonder if some of your pain is from the fabric and how much is from the c/s still. BWing REALLY works those abdominal muscles and yours aren't there by far yet. Up until pregnancy I found BWing more comfortable with Aiden as a toddler than I did when he was 3/4 months old! It was the c/s and working those muscles. My back bothers me a lot (nothing bad, just irritating) and ring slings used to bother it until I got better with my core muscles. Not everyone can feel comfortable long term in a ring sling, though I have to say that pic you posted in the BWing forum was of great form!
Oh! How wide is the ring sling? A thinner ring sling means less fabric along your back to support the baby. I think that's one reason why I love my wrap conversion - it's SUPER wide and really covers most of my back.
ANd ((hugs)) for having so much pain still form the c/s.
Mine is 26 inches wide and I try to make sure it covers my back well to help spread the weight a bit. I think it'll get better over time with the abdominal pain, but I don't know about this back pain. And it's not my sciatic lower back issue. This is mid-back and it's a sore, burning pain. I do remember a chiropractor showed me something at that location on an x-ray about 6 years ago, but at the time it was my lower back bothering me so I ignored him. I guess I should have paid more attention.
I took a pic of Kole in floaty thing in the kiddie pool today and texted it to the IL's. It didn't take 10 minutes for SIL to text me asking where her picture was! I guess SIL and MIL just talk on the phone constantly.
Ugh, I have that midback sore, burning pain--have for years. It gets worse when I do things like wash dishes--anything that has my arms extended without support for any length of time. It got so bad when I was BFing that I was lying in bed at night near tears, so I went to the chiro and she did make it WAY better but it's slowly crept back and DH hates me spending money on chiros (I justified it despite him when pregnant/newly pp but I don't really feel like arguing about it when it's not that bad) I honestly think a lot of it has to do with the muscles trying to make up for no core strength, which would really make sense for you with the c/s. There are some good stretches for it, though--I can try to find a link later...need to go cook my dinner now. I'm starving and DH usually feeds me!
Thats super cheap for swimming lessons, they are around $10 a lesson here for a half hour. Because I have to work Ronin won;t be able to start until he is 3 because they only run lessons for 3 and up on a Saturday morning. Not sure if I will take him though at the price of them.
I am not commenting on tckets, it's been ages and if I say anythign abour how long Murphy's law says I will get one tomorrow. I do have to drive like a grandma on the work run because I go through a school zone which is heavily patroled by speed cameras, I see the police there at least once a week
I just saw a picture of Ronin's third or fourth cosuin who shares his birthday (I know how slack they have never met, it's just never worked out for a number reasons and is likely to never work out for other reasons) but my aunt had said they actually look a little alike. Seeing the photo from tonight I totally agree, even down to hair colour.
Oh the poop this morning. :puke2: Kid woke up and had a poop explosion (he's in disposables overnight right now). Only I didn't notice immediately and sat him down after getting him out. As he walked poop fell down his pj pants and onto the floor. EW. EW. EW. EW. Really glad that DH is on an 8-8pm today rather than his usual 6-6pm. It was a two person job between the clothes, bath time, the floor, etc. It was in his armpits!!!! How?!?!
I saw them! So cute!!
ETA: It didn't quote you Erin--this is for you!
I have had 3 speeding tickets and 1 warning. Not in a few years though *knock on wood*
OMG, Jackie! What a mess!
:puke2: Jackie! What, is it in the air??? Addy woke up at 4:53am saying "Poop potty, poop potty please!" so I dragged myself in there and took off her diaper...and got a handful of poop, which also got all over the tail of the onesie she'd been sleeping in...YUCK. Not a 2 person cleanup, and definitely not up to her armpits, but still...not a great way to start the day! Totally feel your pain over here.
And yes, Wendy, smart...yesterday I swear I saw like three speed traps at least! Fortunately I was only going about 5-8 over each time, and 11 is the trigger, but it still gave me a little heart palpitation every time after this conversation!
Oh my gosh Jackie!! Yuck!! I can deal with poop all day long in a diaper, but once it comes out of it a bit I'm like ew
Totally. Although I do have one poop story I actually love...DH was/is SO poop-phobic, it was practically all he could talk about when I was pregnant. He planned to be a good diaper changing daddy, but was completely grossed out by the thought at the same time, and could barely even talk about it without gagging. So of course the very first time he held DD, in those sweet, sweet moments right after birth, she pooped a perfect plop right into his bellybutton! And of course it wasn't nearly as bad as he'd imagined, since he was still in that new-baby haze, so that was a great way to just get over it. Mostly. I will never forget that moment, though, as long as I live!
hahaha!!! Leigh, that is too funny!!!!!!
On a different kind of poop story, Evan finally pooped in his potty last night! Yay!! I saw him squat down in the living room, and I asked if he was pooping. He kind of looked over his shoulder at me and grunted. So I ran him to the bathroom and sat him on his potty and he went. We are not at the point of him telling us he has to poop. It's kind of at the "catch and go with it" phase.
That's great! We're mostly in that phase too...Addy has been asking all the time...AFTER she's already pooped  But you have to start somewhere!
That's what I think too. When he moves up to the next class at daycare, I'm guessing it will be around August, they will focus more on it. We will start working on it harder then too.
Yep, same here! In fact, they told me August I am so looking forward to the day when I don't constantly have songs from "Elmo's Potty Time" stuck in my head...argh. Addy wants to sit on her potty and watch it EVERY MORNING. I didn't let her today (after that 4:53am poopcident) so it doesn't become an expectation. I mean, yeah, it's educational, but...mommy needs some sanity.
Haha! I bet you are looking forward to that day. Every morning would be bad after maybe, oh, one morning.
YAY Evan!!! My hope is to go back to what we were doing last winter before moving with PTing in July after I'm done traveling. Have him sit on it when he first wakes up and after nap. Throw underwear on him when I can and see what he does. If he resists I'll back off. We were doing pretty well with slowly getting into it last winter, but moving put us back to never touching the potty again....though Aiden is fascinated with flushing and so far will only flush if there's poop or pee in it (he'll flush after me and after I dump his poop out of his diaper). We'll see. I'd love to have just one in diapers so I'll have less laundry come november!!!
Hopefully he will get back into the routine, Jackie. I wouldn't want to have two in diapers if I could help it either. That's cute that Aiden likes to flush it on down. Evan tries to flush, but I guess our handles are a little hard to push, he can't do it by himself yet. When we stay in a hotel, or go to my mom's, he loves to flush their toilets.
I've got 2 in cloth & let me tell you it is a lot of diapers. Luckily we a zillion diapers so I only wash every friday. But it takes 2 drying racks and a while to stuff, fold, and deliver diapers to various places in the house. Its a process currently since DS3 uses like a diaper an hour still
Joy, I don't envy your laundry in the least bit!!! I also don't want to buy more diapers other than to replace cheap ones as they fall apart.
Joy, that sounds like a TON of diapers. I don't envy you either. I guess in that case, it would be easier on you to have alot.
The Effect of Feeding Method on Sleep Duration, Maternal Well-being, and Postpartum Depression
I'm gonna post this in the BFing board too.
