My child, MY BOOBY OBSESSED CLINGY CHILD, may have put herself to sleep tonight with nothing more than a pat on the back. I'm not calling it yet because its only been like 20 minutes but she's in there, I don't hear screaming, and I left her in there awake.
We were playing the usual tooth brushing game. Hey, Teagan, let me brush your teeth or you're going to bed without stories. This has always worked. If she refuses, I pop her up on her bed, turn the lights off, and leave the room. She screams, I come back in, she lets me brush. Not tonight! I said she was going to bed without stories (code for books & booby) and she said OK. I popped her on her bed, turned the light off, patted her, and left. No screaming. I chatted with DH for a bit. Still no screaming. I debated about whether or not it was really important to put a night time diaper on her. I decided it was. I went back in. She groggily looked up at me but let me put her diaper on, pat her ..... and leave the room. It's been 20 minutes and I haven't heard a peep.
Is she alive in there? Should I go check again (because let's face it, the diaper was just an excuse to make sure aliens hadn't abducted her)? Should I rejoice? She I not get too excited?
WTF? My child has NEVER gone to bed without booby. Much less without someone lying there with her until she's thoroughly unconscious.
