Default You'll be proud of me! OT

We are finally updating our cell phone. Its been at least 4 years and the phone keeps turning off. Dh was late for work yesterday because it turned off! We went to Verizon and Im shocked at how much you have to pay for service with a phone that has the wifi. I think they said something like 60 plus 26 for the wifi.. Oh heck no's! So we drove to cricket. Were getting the Muve and Music phone! Basically unlimited texting, calls, plus you can get the internet or whatever you call that. And you can download music, ringtones for free and listen to your phone with earplugs or just by itself.. All for $55 bucks a month. Im a little worried about the quality of service but I dont really call too many people, so Im just hoping it serves its purpose..

Im mostly excited for the music bit so I can run with my phone! THAT IS AWESOME!!

Can you tell Im excited to be in with the times!!

Annnnddddd......welcome to the 21st century LOL!

I have Verizon but in all honesty, it's really the only option for us. Around these boondocks, the cell service is ridiculously crappy and Verizon is the best of the crap.

    Yes, this is us too!

Yay for a new phone! My last verizon one did the same thing and would just shut off over and over. So annoying.

Woo hoo! Glad you got an updated phone!!!

The only reason we've stuck with AT&T is that they have service at every base we've been to. They're the only ones that have 3G (aka internet) service in Del Rio!

    Yay for updated phones!

We don't have smartphones, but I am sure the day will come when they will pretty much be the only option and we'll be forced to pay for data packages for both of us. The last time we updates our phones (a year ago) that was pretty much already true. There were something like 3 non-smart phones to choose from, and all of them were pretty junky. The phone I picked has been just ok, nothing stellar, but DH went with a different model and his is crap. I am sure they are not putting a lot of effort into developing nice features for regular phones. I do covet an iphone, I just don't want to pay for the data package!

I dumped Verizon years ago. They were the company with the best reception in NJ and they stunk when I moved to the SW. We have T-mobile now and they are much better. I got a MyTouch4G a month or so ago because getting a new phone with data actually saved us money! We have this plan where we buy our own phones and we get a break on the cost of service. I guess they save money by not giving us a new phone every 2 years so they pass the savings to us.

Erin, I like that idea of you buying your own phone. I swear phones only last 2 years and so you have to go in and buy another one, and then up your contract to get a discount on the phone.

Im loving my new phone and the service so far. I have been able to get reception in different towns and that is one thing I heard was bad about Cricket but so far so good..

Our plan is only worth it if you don't buy a phone every 2 years, which we don't. We also buy used phones so that saves us even more money.
