Mama to Eliza and big sis Paulina
Claire is still in her Britax Marathon. When DD2 outgrows her infant seat, I'm thinking we'll get the Britax that converts to a booster (Frontier, I think?) for Claire (but not as a booster, as the full seat) and then put Lainey in the Marathon. She'll stay rear facing for as long as we can keep her, hopefully until she's at least 2 and maybe beyond. We tried to keep Claire rear facing until 2, but at 20 months she turned into a baby Houdini and no matter how tightly we strapped her down she could get the straps off her shoulders and turn around in her seat (still had the straps around her waist but would twist in the seat). We thought it was safer to turn her forward facing and have the harness strapped properly, and it did fix the problem.
We have the Nautilus (I think that's it anyway) and I really like it. I like that it has the higher weight 5 pt harness and then converts to a booster with the back still attached for proper belt placement (the cost is very reasonable also). We went ahead and switched months ago because Pan had outgrown the baby seat and needed the Britax Roundabout (which we still have rear-facing at 18 months).
As far as positioning both seats we have a van with individual chairs so each kid is directly behind the driver and passenger seats.
