How was everyone's holidays?

Sorry I have not been posting. We've been very busy this last month and we've been at my parents' house the last week and their wireless is in and out and I can no longer post from my phone.

How was everyone's holidays? Have any pics to share?

I didn't realize there were no replies here yet! Mine was nice, considering how my year went.....Eva & I had a blast over our vacation and had really nice family time everywhere.

HOWEVER then with the new year came a total nightmare---found lice on 1/3 and had to spend a week dealing with that, it was awful.

SO, I have been exhausted but ok.

Here are some holiday pics from us:

making cookies:

A couple from Eva's Christmas session:

A few "artistic" shots of mine....

I don't have actual Christmas day pics uploaded yet!! lol I will post some when I get them on the pc!

Love your pictures Amy. Chris made the Christmas cookies with Brandon this year since he put his foot in his mouth when he criticized the fact that I bought pre-made sugar cookie dough, lol. He didn't roll out the dough, he floured the baking sheet and used his hands to smush the dough and then used the cookie cutters. They were thick, uneven, and just flat-out ugly, lol. He won't be doing that again, lol.

I'm glad you had a nice Christmas but the lice sounds awful. I remember having it as a child and I had a ton of thick, curly hair so the treatment was miserable. I am dreading Brandon getting lice because he has the same thick, curly hair.

Our Christmas and New Years was super busy. We had a nice Christmas here at home with my parents. Then we went to have Christmas with the in-laws and then we went up North to have "Christmas" with my family. We were there until the second week of Jan. On New Years Eve we went to a party thrown by some family friends and we dressed in our jammies. It was a nice family party. On New Years Day my grandmother traditionally makes menudo so I ran over there in the morning and then we all went to the last Raiders game of the year. We did a big tailgate and it was so much fun, but it would have been better if they had won.

Chris came home on the 3rd but we stayed until the 8th because it was my nephew's birthday and Brandon was out of school until the 9th. We were gone this weekend for our anniversary. Since CJ is so small I didn't feel comfortable going too far away, so we went to Solvang, which is this quaint little danish village about three hours away. It's right in the middle of the central coast wine valley so we did a lot of wine tasting and stayed in a cute, little B&B. This was our second time there but last time I was pg so I didn't get to have any wine. It was nice to get away just the two of us, but I missed my boys. I need to upload my pictures.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time in the past month.

Yeah this year I tried using 1/2 wheat flour in my sugar cookie dough and it made them totally different lol but still pretty good. It isn't really a good recipe to use wheat flour in though. I used it in other recipes with no noticeable difference though, like the gingerbread!

Yeah I'd never experienced it before so this was an absolute nightmare and I tried NOT to freak out, but you feel so violated, paranoid, and exhausted even after they're gone and you feel like you can't relax the same way anymore :/ at least that's how I felt! I know what you mean because my hair is 10x thicker than most people's I know.

Sooo, I'm way late responding here, but I will anyway Wink

We celebrated christmas with my biological dad, stepmom and brother on the 12/22, they came to our house, we had a casual dinner, opened presents, kids hung out, very easy. On the 23rd I had an EGD done, and unfortunately I did not react well to the meds they used. I had a lot of issues with vomiting and horrible nausea after the vomiting stopped. It lasted about 24 hours. So on the 24th, I had to call in sick to work, and my family went to MIL's for Christmas while I laid in bed. I worked Christmas day, but Santa was awesome and came Christmas night so that I could spend Christmas with my family on Monday.

It was seriously the BEST Christmas we've had yet. It's what I've been begging my DH for for the last few years. I've been so tired of focusing on all of the extended family and their expectations of our time, I just want Christmas to be a day for OUR family. So we got up on Monday morning, had a nice relaxing morning. We opened some presents, had coffee, played with the kids, made a nice breakfast and just spent time together. We were able to let the kids spend as much time as they wanted in their pj's and play with their new stuff all they wanted. In the meantime we made a nice dinner for that night. It was exactly what I wanted out of Christmas. So even though it wasn't fun to be working on Christmas, it set us up perfectly for our day Smile Usually we go to MIL's on the 24th in the evening, rush home late with the kids, get them to bed, Santa does his thing, we get up in the am, rip through presents, rush the kids to get dressed and hurry over to FIL's for brunch for a few hours, then come back home. I love that our families want to be with us, but...it's to much rushing around!

Ugh, Amy, I feel for ya with the lice thing. The kids at our elementary school don't have lockers, only hooks with shelves above, it totally freaks me out to have their coats and snow pants all touching!

Amy....ugh, I hate lice too...my sister had a few bouts with it when we were little. Glad you had good holidays, though, and Eva is just beautiful!!

Lenora....your anniversary getaway sounds wonderful!! DH and I are trying to figure out where to go for our anniv. this year (it's our 10th) and it's hard to come up with something not too far away when you have a LO only a few months old.

Holly....I'm so glad you got to have a nice Christmas with just your family. I know what you mean w/the running around...usually we have to travel to our families 3+ hours away, but this year we got a freebie bc we had just had Allyson, lol.

Our holidays were nice & low-key, we didn't travel bc of Allyson being so little. We sort of felt like we had already had our Christmas when she was born Smile My mom & dad & sister did come down Christmas night and spent a couple of days with us so that was nice.

Austin really enjoyed Santa coming this year, and it was sooo cute to see him get so excited.

Amy - the pics of Eva are just beautiful, you are really talented. Are you doing it professionally? Or just a hobby?

Holly - your Christmas sounds wonderful, and I agree that a relaxed Christmas Day is best. That's what we usually do, but this year we ended up going to my MILs house for the weekend. It was fine, but I would much rather be at home.

Kim - you could try Hot Springs, its not too far away from you. That is where we went for my honeymoon. It was very relaxed, spent most of the time at the B&B, going out to eat, and getting spa treatments. Our room had a sitting room, so the lady would come and leave our breakfast there and we never even had to see her or the other guests. And we had a jacuzzi in the room.

That's a good idea. We have been to HS before but it has been quite a while. I like the idea of the lady leaving the breakfast- we are not really the type of people who like getting up early and socializing with other people over breakfast. LOL I will have to get the name of the place you stayed.
