Anyone LOs have fears?

Just curious as I am not sure what age LOs start being scared or fearful of things. DS this week all of a sudden had some worried/scared reactions to things. Like yesterday two lizards went running across the driveway and scared him. I dont like lizards myself but I think he wasnt expecting that to happen and it kinda freaked him out. Any one else or is he being a little scaredy cat?

Izzy gets frightened by random things, sometimes to the point that she hits the deck and shakes on the floor. Last week she got very scared when the garbage truck passed by outside, and she's off and on afraid of bugs. I can't recall off the top of my head what else she has been frightened of lately, because quite often it's something that she is usually ok with, and has an off/odd reaction to.

Last year, we had a heck of a time with fireworks. I'll be interested to see how he reacts this year. Probably the same. It's funny, because he was fine with the loud firetrucks at parades and such. We went to the circus last weekend, and he didn't like the dirt bikes in the sphere. He leaned in on me the whole time, and even looked up at me at one point and said, "Mommy, bye bye."

Other than those, he's scared of the dark. It's just a recent thing...like the last month. It was right on cue with when Carson became afraid of the dark. So at least I was prepared with a night light. Took us a week to figure out what was wrong with Carson! This time it was just 2. Phew!

Dalton gets some pretty strong, and pretty random fears too! The one that bothers me the most, though is the fear of strangers! Women, specifically. We are not terribly social, and its rare to have a "new" person come to the house. He usually clings pretty tight, if not cries the whole time that person(s) is there. Its odd, none of my other babies had the stranger danger thing, but Dalton is pretty much a mamas boy! I think that nursing this long has to have some effect on that!

He also went through a long period of bug fear LOL.. flies really tore him up. He is better now that he can go outside and interact on their turf, but caught off guard he comes unleashed!

Oh good,I mean glad it sounds like its the age. Yeah he didnt like a leaf yesterday and just kept pointing too it and didnt like it. My mom said he got scared of some toys he hasnt seen in a while but was fine with them later in the day. Its just all of a sudden this week.
Joee- tommy is totally a clinger and mamas boy too. He actually will be fine for other ladies but if its a guy thats strike one. Then if he happens to be taller thats strike 2 and 3. We are on the shorter side and he doesnt like that combo. One of our friends he still will never get close to, he is 6'5 so he is a little worried about him. lol.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear this is totally normal, because it's so WEIRD! Adair is normally totally happy and into everything, but sometimes out of the blue she'll startle at something random and freak out. Just yesterday, she heard a faraway train whistle (we had our windows open for the first time in a while) and she FREAKED and started weeping "choo choo...choo choo" and made me hold her all morning. Then, when she got home from school, she remembered and started weeping about it again, just thinking about it! But she normally loves trains...it was truly bizarre.

LOL at the leaf Tommy just didn't like...that's totally something Addy would do out of nowhere.

She is also randomly scared of the baby monitor--the parent unit in our room. If she notices it, she'll point to it and start whine/crying in a freaked out way. So weird.

Madelyn is afraid of airplanes flying in the sky! Not sure why, but she is! Anytime we are outside and there is an airplane flying overhead, she starts crying and running to the nearest adult. Hoping she will get over that fear because we like to picnic at the local municipal airport and watch all the planes!

Charlie is pretty much fearless....BUT DOES THIS SUPRISE ME? NO!!!.....Hes a total mummies boy and can be super clingy towards me IF IM THERE, otherwise hes fine...But this is also getting better as he gets older.....

LIAM on the other hand has soooo many fears its ridiculous!!!.....From a very young baby he has been scared of plants/trees/shrubs etc....they are all good unless there is a chance of them touching him!!! Discovered at a very young age because he would do anything to avoid touching them...even if you are just brushing by one to get to the car etc...NO WAY WILL HE TOUCH IT....he has got better over the years, but still if one brushes him he flinches away from it and will avoid contact by all means, but I can now get him to hold leaves, flowers and touch them on his terms, Ive worked very hard at this....
He has very sensitive ears too we think because loud noises he really hates and gets really uspet if a loud noise starts suddenly....so he now is scared of loud cars, motorbikes (unless it is our or MIL quad bikes which he loves to ride) planes...etc....Oh Helicopters, and we live close to the hospital and the lifeflight helicopter comes right over our house low as its coming into land (as in we can see the men flying it), so he comes running inside until its lands...
He also has this weird fear of noises, like cows mooing???? go figure and Stags roaring....Unforunately we live one street away from the country and there are cows and Deer/Stags....so every mating season when they get nosiy (which is now for the Stags) hes unsettled when they roar etc and they only seem to do it in the evenings when its really quiet, they are sooo loud it sounds like they are in our back yard...
He also has this dream that cows are coming in his windows at night??? Very weird, so at night when it gets dark outside he tells us we have to shut all the curtains so they cant come in.....Its an odd fear, because he has been bought up with cows at the MIL's and it totlly fine with them....
OHHHHH and FANS but not fans that blow cool air around, fan like extractor fans in bathrooms or the hand drying ones in public toilets, heat tranfer kits in houses, and the big units in malls or shops.....so he will see them and freeze and not want to go into those places!!! Very frustrating....But he will go in I just have to tell him its just a fan and its ok its not going to hurt him....But god help me if anything turns on suddenly!!!

So yeah Liams got LOTS of fears!!!.....I hope he gets better with them....

If you ask Halloway what she is afraid of she will promptly answer "Not a darn thing!" In reality she's a bit tepid around flying insects, but that's about it. Her bravery will likely be my death. Wink

LOL Kilah! H cracks me up!
Noel will get worried about anything that can hurt her. ("Hurt? hurt?") Flying bugs, big dogs (she is terrified of my friend's huge dog), the grill tonight, etc. But she doesn't freak out too often. The most scared I've seen her is of the dog.

Alice was very afraid of all animals up until very recently. She was fine if they were 5 or more feet away from her, but man if they came close she screamed! Taking her to a farm with a petting zoo was real fun! She was horrified by baby chicks and gerbils. Anyway, she is fine now with dogs and cats. Haven't tried any petting zoos lately though. Other than that, I don't think she's afraid of anything at the moment.

Lexi isnt afraid of much of anything it seems like, she loves Bugs, animals, anyting outside etc. recently she has developed an aversion to fuzzballs lol our cats are shedding their thicker winter hair so we are constantly vaccumming and stuff and if she sees one she will tell us about it and if we dont take care of it right away she will have a meltdown lol. Last night she was throwing a tantrum on the floor and refused to get up, at the same time DH and both told her there was a fuzzball on the floor, she looked over, saw it and promptly got up and stopped crying lol. i know...bad mommy lol

Ha ha! Love that Lexi being afraid of cat hair got her to end her tantrum. lol

Abram is scared of his bed. Sadly. He has this super cute little tikes train bed, and he loved it for about a month. Then one night he was just screaming like crazy in the middle of the night and was completely unconsolable. Thankfully he was verbal enough to talk about it, but he had some crazy dream (apparently) about a phone ringing in his bed. He went on and on. I showed him there was no phone in his bed, we looked at the phone charging in the kitchen, on and on, and nothing. He loves to climb all over his bed in the day time, but at night, we put his pillow on the floor and he sleeps there, for months now. He has slept in his bed on a few occasions, but they are pretty rare.

I can't think of anything Wyatt is afraid of, other than mommy leaving. lol. Smile

ROFL ditto! Too funny. Adair isn't scared of hair/dirt/litter but does get very concerned about it and want to clean it up. Sometimes we spend a whole trip to the playground picking up tiny pieces of candy wrappers and such and putting them in the trash. Oh well...I can think of worse obsessions than tidiness!
