36 week appt - not much going on

So, I thought all that tightening last week and the fact that it was moving around to my back was some sort of sign that something was going on. Found out last night at my appt that I'm a fingertip dilated  Jeez - I figured a little more, but apparently not. So, I've got a while I guess. My boss is thrilled...me - not so much. Other than that, my doc did say that our little girl is on the smaller side! That is fantastic news! I was starting to think she was huge already because I'm getting fairly uncomfortable. So I was really happy to hear that!

Oh - and also. So, if this little one is lighter, will that have any impact of me dilating do you think? Our first was like 8lbs 9oz...and I was dilated to 4cm and 80% effaced at my last appt. Do you think that had any effect?

At least you're a fingertip! I was still high and closed at my almost 36 week appt.
I don't know that size has much to do with it as much as your body's response to each pregnancy. With DS, I didn't dilate and only effaced 80% before labor started. With DD, I was 3 cm and 90% effaced two days before labor started. They were both very similar in size. I was effaced early with both, but the OB didn't say anything about being effaced this time.
Your body may kick into gear at any time!

Dang for a fingertip! Hopefully next week you will show some more dilation Smile

I don't think baby's weight has anything to do with how much you efface or dilate..like Beth said I think it's more your body's reaction to pregnancy/labor.

I was 100%, 0 station and 3cm for a few weeks before labor with DD and she ended up only being 5lbs, 8oz, so I don't think size has anything to do with it. It's more about positioning.

Glad to hear not much is going on. Smile Too bad for the fingertip, but when babys ready your body will be too! Smile

Ahhh - I gotcha. I really love coming on here with questions with you ladies! Its so nice to have somewhere to get some answers/advice and all that.

Beth - that is true! At least I'm going the right direction!

Anne & Marilyn - thats pretty much exactly what I was thinking when my doc said 'you're about a fingertip' Smile LOL

Sorry for the uncomfyness! You never know, it could happen overnight even only being a fingertip.

Im not sure the size has anything to do with that either. My OB says my baby is on the small side too, and at my 36 week appt i wasnt dilated or effaced at all...but who knows if one really correlates with the other?? But like PP said...it can really happen at any time...you could be completely closed up one day, and in labor the next...

Good luck!
