Today was my 39 week appt and she went over the latest u/s with us. GOOD NEWS!!! Baby boy is still only measuring 44th percentile, and approx 7.5 lbs. Which I guess is sorta on par with the 6lb 1oz estimate from 2 weeks ago. She figures if hes born on Tues (my due date) he'll be around 8 lbs. I said "all right! a small baby" and she looked at me and said "oh no, thats a good average sized baby boy" and I said "yeah, but small compared to my first son!" and she laughed.
His head circumference is on the smaller size (not of concern though) which makes me REALLY happy lol, and his femur measurement was only at 34+ weeks, so maybe he will be shorter than DS was at birth (he was around 22inches). This all seems so TINY to me (I know it isnt) because DS was over the 90th percentile from the day he was born. I guess its all about perspective? Anyway I figure if I pushed out a 9.14 baby a 8ish lb baby should slide out on his own?! lol
Anyway, my BP was good, babys HB was good, he moved away from her cold gel and the wand as soon as she touched him lol. I dont think I gained a single pound this week... lol. I forgot to ask but she barely moved the scale.
and for the BEST part :woohoo: I'm 2cm dilated! lol I know I can stay here for a while, but I NEVER dilated with DS, went in basically closed to my induction. So I'm happy to be making some progress on my own. She said she can feel babys head, but he isnt engaged yet (but that may not happen until active labor she said) and Cervix is still thick - it needs to thin more. She didnt give me a % for that.
She did say she hopes to not see me at my next appt (Tues, my EDD) lol. I said I hope not too... but if we do she will book a NST to monitor baby. So theres my appt.
And now we're going back to the normal birth route! Please send lots of labor vibes my way. I'd love to do this naturally and keep progressing on my own and avoid the induction and/or csec route. At this point that seems like it would only be in an emergency situation.
