Advice needed please *updated post 12

Ok so for the last week I'd say my hands have been swelling like crazy starting in the evenings. It's mostly when I go to relax for the night. They swell so bad they hurt and go numb all through the night. I woke up the other night with my hand being numb but realized I couldn't bend my fingers so I turned on the light. My hands were really swollen and I couldn't make a fist. It mostly goes away during the day, but today it didn't. My right hand was noticeably larger then the left and had a blue tint to it.

I know people on here have talked about numb hands and swelling...is this normal? My feet aren't really swollen at all, but my hands, legs, and face are. I'm also having headaches, but have a lot this pregnancy.

When I swell I just feel 'off'. Like kinda dizzy feeling? Like I took a benedryl

Oh sweetie I feel for you! I have Arthritis and the carpal tunnel when preggo, so I know exactly where you are coming from!!!

The numbness part is "normal" for someone with carpal tunnel. With my first pg when I got the carpal tunnel I was about where you are (32ish weeks) and my doc told me to get the brace for the numbness. It truly helps, it lets you sleep and usually the pain is less (if not gone) after a short time of wearing them. I'm finding now I still get some tingly /numbness even with them on - usually if I've slept on my hands.

The size difference and blue tint is worrisome though - I'd definitely talk to you doctor. The only time my hands swell in size is usually when I have an arthritis flareup. In the meantime, if you cant get someone on the weekend, I'd recommend you pick up a brace for your wrist (or 2 if its in both) and wear them whenever you feel numb.
Oh for the not being able to bend thing - try placing your hands in warm water and slowly working on range of motion try just being able to twitch and slowly work up to bending them and then gradually making a fist. I find this helps with my RA flareups.

I get it the odd time in my leg - usually a change in position will help with the numbness there. I dont really have any other advice. Sad I hope you get some relief soon.

If you haven't had your BP checked since this started, I would call your doc to be safe. It doesn't sound "normal", but like Marilyn said, it could just be come CT issues. They will probably ask you to come into L&D to get checked out. I know what is "normal" for me, but I definitely wouldn't say what is normal for someone else!
Hope it goes away!

My bp is what I am most worried about. Esp since I'm having headaches too. I hate it because here I am on a Friday night at 1030pm debating on going in (well calling but you know that always leads to going in.

My mom is a director of nursing and said if I wait till morning she will meet me at her center and check my blood pressure.

Marilyn- If it was CT, would it just show up at night? Today was the first day I had it, but it wasn't all day.

Night time is when its worst. This has been my experience with CT and with arthritis.
When mine started it was always just at night. Only this time around has it become more of the day. I dont remember why, but it is worse at night. The braces help take pressure off the CT vein and make your hand stay in a good position while you sleep.

Do you wake up with your hands under your body or under your head or pillow? that could be another thing making it worse.
I agree that you should get checked soon.

DO you have a 24hr drug store around? We have some here and they have BP monitors so you can check it at any time yourself. If you are really worried about it then I would go check it out.

If not, then call. A sleepless late night getting checked would be better than sleepless/anxious/worried at home. If its nothing, then at least you get peace of mind If its somthing, then you can get it taken care of asap.

Please call or go. The extreme swelling and the headaches are things my Dr. said to go to ER for ASAP if they happen. I know it is a pain and probably nothing but not worth the risk.

I think you need to call or go into an urgent care. The BP monitors in stores aren't calibrated regularly and aren't accurate. With swelling like that and headaches, you need to get your BP checked.

Please let us know how it works out.

I would definitely get your BP cheched out. The swelling with the dizziness doesn't sound "normal". KUP, I hope it's nothing.

I called on call doc this morning and he said he wasn't concerned about any of it unless I'm having severe headaches or seeing spots. Also said since I was in a little over a wk ago that proteins were checked then. said I could come in if I wanted....thanks for nothing lol this is why I hesitate to call all the time. He is the most relaxed doc at my practice, but I think ill still stop today n have my mom chk my bp at her center.

I say (just my opinion)...go and get checked. If something is wrong you will never forgive yourself and if nothing is wrong you just put your mind at ease. KUP!

Definitely can't hurt to have it check by your mom. Hopefully it's nothing like your Doc says!

I agree to get it checked out. My hands(and only my hands) swell when I'm dehydrated. Have you been drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day? If not, it can't hurt you and might help!

I agree, definitely worth getting checked by your mom. Let us know what the result was!
