Appointment and u/s

So when we had our anatomy u/s it was brought to our attention that my placenta was covering my cervix. We went back on Monday for another u/s and it has moved but it's still considered low lying. I go back again on the 23rd to have another scan to see if it's moved. Besides that, baby is still a boy and was active as ever. Everything still looks great.

I had my routine appointment today with my OB (the u/s is with perinatologist). I've gained a few lbs but I'm still down 10+ from when I got pg. I'm plus sized so this is good. I had to do the darn glucose test today thought because of the PCOS. :puke2:I thought I was going to :puke2:on the way there after I drank the stuff. Appointment went well. HB was 155 and my BP is still good. He isn't really concerned about the low lying placenta at this point because there is still time for it to move up. Even then it isn't that much of a concern because I will be a repeat c-section and it is posterior.

I asked him at what point we'd schedule the c-section and he said usually 2 months prior. He looked at the calendar and asked how 8/16 sounded. My due date is actually 8/23 (I thought was 8/27). Guess I need to change me ticker to 8/23 instead of 8/27.

Anyway, everything is going great except this darn bronchitis. He did say that I could take Mucinex and gave me a rx for Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep. I'm sleeping like poo because of the coughing so I was really releived to hear I could take something.

Glad your appt went well! And that your doc gave you some meds. Hope that helps.

Do they typically schedule a c-section a week before your due date? Sorry, I'm completely stupid when it comes to c-sections. I would just be so worried they were off on the due date and it would be too early, but I'm super paranoid about that stuff. I'm sure they know what they're doing.

Yes, they usually do c sections a week before due date. Based on my o date, my due date is 8/27. I was charting and doing opk's at the time. So the due date isn't that far off.

Jessica - i'm confused.....are you going for a VBAC? if you are dont let them pressure you into scheduling a c/s ahead of time. just tell your doc that you'll be in on your due date if you've not had the baby by then and you'll schedule it at that appointment. no reason to not give your body its full opportunity. Ask me when it gets closer and i can give you some tips that helped me i think get my VBAC, that i plan on using again.

VCoats - i'm glad you had a good appointment. i'm sorry that sugar drink was so yucky. i'm not looking forward to that at my next appointment either. i do hope that your cervix does what its supposed to.

Glad everything was okay. How was the glucose testing? I go for mine on May 5th. Not looking forward to the fasting the way I have been getting hurngry at night.

I too am plus size and lost a ton of weight which worried the doctor but Lizzie is growing fine and I finally put on 3 pounds between 16 weeks and 20 weeks.

So what does it mean that your placenta is low? sorry, I'm new to all this, lol. Mine is in the front.

I am on pelvic rest until they determine it's not low lying anymore and it's driving me mad!! I guess it means I could have bleeding. I haven't done a tone of reasearch on it because they don't really think it's much of a concern right now. It would be even more of a concern if my placenta was anterior because it might grow into my scar but thankfully it hasn't.

I agree! Do NOT let them pressure you. I would really like to try a VBAC with this one but with my issues and being borderline diabetic with pcos and it being very difficult for a vbac here in OK.

OMG! I am so glad I am not alone in this area. I was almost in tears the other day because of it. All DH would say was think of the benefits later. I wanted to smack across the head with a pillow. Lol.

@VCoates...glad everything is okay with your LO. My perinatologists just informed me that ideally we want to reach 36-37wks for me(because of previous surgery to remove fibroids, I have a weak spot in my uterus that won't/can't withstand contractions if I go longer. So he doesn't want to take any chances of it rupturing) but if we can't 34 wks would be just fine for them to perform my c-section. That worries me a little though.

Glad everything went well! And I am glad that you got some meds. That must be miserable! I had a bout of a virus/bronchitis a few weeks ago and it was horrible to not be able to sleep well. Hope you feel much better soon!
A week before EDD is actually good. Much better than many of my friends experiences with scheduled c/s.
